About this mod
Make vanilla Elex better! Legendaries have unique effects and new models! Revamped rings, amulets, armor, camera and stuff! Compatible with Elex 2 Enhanced by MagusTheMagician.
- Requirements
- Permissions and credits
Basically, a lot of vanilla items are ReDonetm (kek) to be more unique and fun-to-use.
Armors.
These changes allow for new builds and make the faction choice truly matter.
Additionally, you can get the clerics' armor sets from the cleric trader with Elex 2 Overhaul as long as you have the Personal ID card you get from their trainer (Heinrich, I guess).
Future plans: ReDo Defector armor (suggest your ideas), add armors throughout the world (no idea how yet). For outlaws I could do the same MagusTheMagician has done for the clerics. Problem is, I don't really know how to edit the wInfo file as well as have no idea what in-game name the outlaw trader has. Also could get a copyright strike from Magus.
Weapons and Projectiles.
All the legendary weapons now have unique effects for different playstyles! Some give you an HP boost, many can improve your Attack power or Defense power (basically, enemies fall from your attack faster, while you can withstand more attack before falling on your knees). Some weapons have a damage bonus, meaning they basically scale with your stats and perks (mostly perks).
Weapons may require Faction perks, like Morkon and Outlaw. You can get them withought joining a faction. Throughout the world there are amulets, rings, artifacts and quest rewards that give you a faction perk as long as you have them in your inventory. So even an Alb can wield the magic Berserker ButterKnife, infused with flames! Provided they have enough mana...
Most of the projectiles now also apply status effects. Bolts - poison, blasters - electricity, lasers - fire, spears - bleed, shotgun pellets - also bleed :) Have fun evading Reaver shots :)))))
Also a few non-legendary weapons are redone simply because I wanted to, such as the double-crossbow and (perhaps) some shotguns. But only the fully-upgraded versions.
Future plans: the shotguns are a huge mess. I've tried to make the lgd shotgun a close-combat weapon by increasing the spread of bullets. Also some melee weapons have effects or models that don't suit them imo. Might change them.
Amulets and Rings.
All the amulets and about half the rings are ReDonetm to be more useful. Also, some of them are now Faction-related, with new Icon Textures and an increased price.
IMPORTANT: you don't have to equip the Berserker ring to get the Berserker Faction perk. Just keep it in your inventory and you'll be good.
Future plans: finish the rings remake. Give your feedback on other ideas, changes and other stuff.
Uniques, junk and consumables.
There is a lot of unique or quest-related stuff that just sits in your inventory for the rest of the game. Well, know it can give you passive perks as long as you keep it in the inventory. Sometimes you can (EAT!!!) use these items to get permanent bonuses, but it might break the related quest. Don't worry, these quests are not important for the main story.
Some useless junk items have been moved to the "Consumables" category. Using them can give you elexit, threasure and permanent or temporary bonuses.
Also you can now eat raw Troll Hearts. For funsies. And perma-bonuses. EMBRACE YOUR SAVAGE NATURE AND FILL THE HEARTLESS VOID INSIDE YOU!!!!!!! Oh, this also increases your destruction level...
Future plans: make more such items, both ordinary and quest-related. Though I'm running out of ideas since there are only so many stats or perks I can manipulate. Sooo, again, your feedback is necessary.
Camera.
A nice dynamic camera that doesn't make you throw up. Travelling and combat become quite immersive now.
Known bugs.
1. If an item doesn't give you the listed perk just put it in a chest or safe and take it back again. Should fix the problem.
2. Eating quest-related rations or parcels will break the quests, but it's your choice. They are side-quests anyway.
Merging guide.
For Elex 2 Enhanced.
Just unpack both mods, overwrite Magus' files with mine and pack the modpack back. Use elex2resman for that. Then throw the pack in C:\Newer Steam\Steam\steamapps\common\ELEX2\ELEX2DX11\data\packed.
ALWAYS PLAY DIRECT X 11 VERSION, THE DX12 DOES NOT LOAD CUSTOM TEXTURES!!!
For Alb Overhaul - Ranged.
Same as above.
For Elex 2 Enhanced AND Alb Overhaul - Ranged.
Now this is tricky as they both edit the world file. I'd upload the merged file myself but i'm afraid of copyright strikes. Soo, here's what you'll have to do:
1. Unpack these two mods.
2. Find the World.elex2wrl files (in the World folders) and convert them into World.elex2wrldoc files using elex2resman.
3. Open the files with something other than a basic Notepad. I use Notepad++. We'll be changing Elex 2 Enhanced file.
4. First go the vanilla themplates, then go the newly added modded templates. You need to find the border between these two groups. It ends with "IGN_Depot_Story_SiloVFX_Off". Now you have to make it look like this:
..........vanilla stuff.......
"IGN_Depot_Story_SiloVFX_Off",
"MOD_Elexetor_Armor",
"MOD_AUTOGENERATED_BONEYARD",
"MOD_Elexetor_Magic",
"Magus_Car",
"Magus_Chest_Magic",
"Magus_Chest_Show",
"Magus_Chest_Sunglasses",
.........magus stuff...........
Just copy-paste Philerenz's three lines between vanilla and MagusTheMagician's lines. Works for me. Don't forget the commas!5. Pack this amalgamation back and store somewhere.
6. Open Elex 2 Enhanced modpack.
7. Add Alb Overhaul and overwrite everything.
8. Add the amalgamation in the World folder and overwrite.
9. Add Elex ReDone and overwrite.
10. Pack this shit, send it to the "packed" directory and start playing already!!!
