I honestly have no idea - I don't use Vortex. AFAIK Mod Engine II is the easiest way to mod Elden Ring, though I don't use it either lol but it's supposed to be very user-friendly from what I've read.
That said, you may want to get familiar with merging mods using DSMapStudio or Yapped.
The tool I used to build this mod, Yapped, is apparently outdated, so DSMapStudio may be better. I still use Yapped 2.1.4 personally though and I haven't had any issue (except one with BuddyParam missing and it was easy to fix). Regardless of the tool you use, it's pretty crucial to learn merging of mods for ER.
Keep in mind too that some mods are built on old versions of the game and MUST be merged with the current game version of "regulation.bin" else the mod won't work at all (mine is like this, I simply haven't updated it.)
Good luck! Modding Elden Ring has a high barrier to entry, but once you pass that it's easypeasy.
If I ever get the PC version of Elden Ring I'll download this just so I can get the Traveler's Set early. It's one of my favorites, but the fact I gotta wait until just before fighting Malenia is a bummer for me.
Agreed! So many fantastic weapons and armors in ER are locked behind low drop rates or specific places in the world, it feels so weird that plain clothing can only be found in a single place in the world lol
Thank you for all the brilliant detailed Yapped instructions! Almost no modder gives that kind of a DIY tutorial. I cant believe you dont have more endorsements---that must have been a lot of work.
Question: All I want to do is give a shopkeeper a full inventory of all somber and normal smithing stones. For the life of me I cant get them to show up. Any tips?
Happy to hear that! Getting the info out there seemed like the best thing I could contribute so more people can have fun with modding Elden Ring :D
As for editing inventories, getting ALL somber/normal smithing stones may be tricky. Merchant inventories are limited to 25 items for the most part, so you'd have to get rid of almost all their other stuff to make room, but it's possible. However, it would be MUCH easier to just remove the Visiblity Flag (set it to zero) for all the smithing stones the Twin Maiden Husk sells. Without the visibility flag, you don't have to give the husks the smithing stone bell bearings to be able to purchase smithing stones: Example of visiblity flag NOT set to zero
But, if you want a different merchant to sell smithing stones you'd have to edit their merchant inventories, which it sounds like you already did. Could you take a screen shot and show what one of your edited items looks like? Example of what I'm asking
Although, if I had to guess it's likely that either your Visiblity Flag is NOT set to zero (meaning some flag in-game needs to trigger before the item is sold by the merchant) or the "equip type" is not set to "3 - Good" but instead set to something the item is not, like "1 - Armor" or "2 - Accessory"
Yeah you can download Yapped and make that edit super easily!
Try it out sometime, editing your game with Yapped takes just a few minutes to download and poke around in. Once you get the hang of it you can make any kind of change like this so you can play Elden Ring the way you want
