Remember the Ash Lake or the Kiln of the First Flame, which were rare examples of ambient music in Dark Souls 1?
The ambient tracks of Elden Ring are very nice — unfortunately, they play everywhere and continuously for hundreds of hours, and the game has no music frequency setting. After a while, you just want to pierce your eardrums, which is sad.
This mod tries to reproduce the ascetic audio experience of the Dark Souls series. It disables most ambient music, except for a few places — mainly the social hubs (e.g. the Roundtable, the Volcano Manor), and some specific locations where the music is subtle enough (e.g. the Divine Towers, the Abyssal Woods).
All major boss fight themes (boss fights inside their own arena) will play as usual.
Both the base game and its DLC are supported.
LIMITATIONS
The game's audio engine has some restrictions.
Basic combat themes (including field bosses) can NOT be enabled separately from the ambient themes, because they are dynamically linked to them. Disabling the ambient music of a given region (overworld or underworld) will automatically silence its basic combat music as well.
For the same technical reason, the day time and night time variations of each region can not be disabled separately.

INSTALLATION
The music parameters of Elden Ring can only be changed through a modified regulation.bin file. The safest way to use a modded regulation is through Mod Engine. You need to copy this file in your Mod Engine installation. My archive already contains the proper Mod Engine folder structure.
If you really don't want to use Mod Engine, you can replace your original regulation.bin file (back it up first) in the game's folder. You do this at your own risk. Again, never play online with a custom regulation, or your save file will be banned!
For people who know how to use DSMapStudio or Smithbox, a CSV file containing my modifications is included in the archive.
