About this mod

A simple mod that mutes most or, optionally, all background music played during exploration or boss fights. Comes in FOUR different flavors!

Permissions and credits
Description:

Ah, the blissful silence! I love the combat music in Elden Ring, but the exploration music is, in my opinion, a little too overbearing and repetitive. It goes against the Souls sound design philosophy to fill your ears with music at all times, it should be used sparingly to underscore special events. Hence, a mod fix this.

Features:

The mod comes in four different flavors, each removing different music:

Lite — removes all exploration background music, except for special areas (Roundtable Hold, Volcano Manor, Divine Towers, Radahn Festival).
No Hub — same as Lite, except Roundtable Hold music is also removed.
Full — removes all exploration background music.
Bosses — removes boss fight music, but keeps everything else.

Note:
Other types of music, such as menu music or sounds made by NPCs and monsters (Nomadic Merchant, Chanting Winged Dame, etc) are unaffected by this mod. Also, keep in mind that some boss-type enemies have non-boss encounters (such as the Ulcerated Tree Spirit in Stormveil Castle), and thus never had any music assigned to them in vanilla game.

Installation:

  • Download and install Mod Engine 2.
  • Choose the flavor of my mod and download it.
  • Extract the archive into the mod directory of Mod Engine 2 (specified in config_eldenring.toml).
  • Make sure Steam is running.
  • Launch the game via launchmod_eldenring.bat.
(or rename modengine2_launcher.exe to start_protected_game.exe and launch it normally).
  • Done.

Compatibility:

This mod was made for App Ver 1.10.1 / Calibrations 1.10.

All mods that modify regulation.bin are incompatible with each other out of the box, but are usually easy to merge. Get your preferred CSV-file of my mod from the download section and follow this guide.

Feedback:

The mod hasn't been thoroughly tested yet. If you find any issues with it, or you have other suggestions, let me know.
