To make things a little simpler for updates to the game I'm going to link the updated bin files separately from the main hair files. Check main mods for the most up to date version of the regulation bin! Also for anyone who does not want to have this mod break with updates method #2 in the description page may work for you
Is there a way to apply short hair using method 2? When I used this method in slot 15, a crash occurred. I can't use the method using bin because I'm using Clever Mode's bin.
this mod needs an update they corruptet my save file i was a little bit mad about it but dont care i will let it now that this mod file Regulation Bin brokes the game and out of this file the mod doesnt show the hair style . so it needs a fix ( dont use it until its patched)
fixed the problem with repair the game , deleting other mods that not compatible with it, delete the old regulation bin before i repaired the game, now it shows the hair on the spots, and so no crashes ( used uxm to patch it after i copyed the datas in the game folder. i will write if i see any other problem again.
im to stupid to figure out how to use mod engine lmao ive always had nexus or vortex whatever you wanna call it do it for me. im to old to figure this s#*! out XD
Sorry I been having this issue that when I start up the game and I try to load a save data with this hair my game instantly crashes I can play with it and everything but as soon as I close the game and save the data and I try to load it just crashes can I get some help?
I'm struggling to make this mod work. I've installed it via the yapped method but while the icons are there, equipping the hairstyle makes the character bald.
if you are seeing the new slot appear bald that prob means there is something wrong with the actual parts file. That or a version mismatch. Double check your on app and calibration version 1.09.1 and 1.09.1. as well as the dcx being in the parts folder and named correctly. (hr_a_0188.partsbnd.dcx)
another user in this thread had a similar issue with the styles being bald. After updating/ reinstalling mod engine they had success. perhaps give that a try?
I see both hairstyles, 33 and 34, long ponytail and realistic long hair in the menu. Once I hover over them my game crashes immediately. Raytracing is disabled, entries in Regulation.bin are all correct. Already reinstalled ModEngine2.
There seems to be another problem. Game probably can't load the models. Redownload and replacing them didn't help either.
Could you please elaborate what the additional files in the ZIP are? They can be only found in the realistic long hair compressed folder.
Edit 01 - 2023-05-06 18:57: The hairstyles are very probably also the reason why my game crashes in the Load Menu for my characters. I'm going to try different options of the hairs to exclude the possibility of a damaged file or anything (even though they worked before).
Edit 02 - 2023-05-06 19:28: Got it! It was the hairstyle variations I downloaded and used.
Using the ponytail variation "Long Bangs - No Ribbon - Earrings" (marked version 1.1, updated to support ER ver 1.09.1) will make the game load it correctly. But using the "Short Bangs - No Ribbon - No Earrings" (marked version 1.1, updated to support ER ver 1.09.1) variation leads to a crash when the game tries to load.
The "standard" realistic long hair variation works, too (marked version 1.7.1, updated to support ER ver 1.09.1). Variation "Shorter Bangs - No Earrings" (marked 1.4.1, updated to support ER ver 1.09.1) crashes when hovered over.
Ok so first off I appreciate you looking into this. It seems I left some extra files on my other hair mod for realistic hair variation "Shorter Bangs - No Earrings. The "GR" and "yabber.xml" files you show in your screenshot are not supposed to be there. I made a mistake while making all the variations it's just an unpacked dcx file. Every download should contain just a "parts" folder and a "regulation.bin". I've deleted the extra ones and reuploaded so the other mod should be fine now. Oh and your screenshot of yapped is correct as well
As for your crashing when hovering. I really don't know. I have a vanilla install of elden ring and mod engine that I use to test mods. I've redownloaded each of my mods from nexus and loaded them into the game with no issues or crashes. One thing both of you in this thread could try is to make sure mod engine is using the correct regulation bin. In the past I've had issues where it conflicts or uses the vanilla bin instead of the modded one in mod engine. To fix this you could make a backup of the vanilla regulation bin located in "steamapps\common\ELDEN RING\Game" and drop my modded one in there as well as in mod engine. Also deleting the vanilla bin and using steam to verify and reinstall it is never a bad idea ( in case it's corrupt)
The thought that it might be my own failure kept bugging me. After checking up and down on my downloaded and extracted files, I came across a renaming error. I accidently used the old versions twice because they got caught up in my longing for tidiness in my files.
So long story short: with the newly downloaded files (again), everything worked as it should have. Hairs are there and flow in the wind. :D
After that I tried to recreate cinnnubadwadferhgr problem. But the only idea I have is either a wrong folder (or folder name) or something going on with the model files themselves.
Do you use any other mods? Can you look into your mod engine 2 folder again? It should look a bit like mine:
glad it's working fine for you now! yea its crazy how just a simple naming mistake can cause so much headache, I've been there sooo many times lol. But for cinnnubadwadferhgr, you may also want to double check names of things. should be "parts" folder in lower case with the "hr_a_0187.partsbnd.dcx" and "hr_a_0188.partsbnd.dcx" also all lower case. the "regulation.bin" outside the parts folder. not sure what else could make the game see the hair as bald
Seems like Miyazaki & his team made it super hard to make changes to the game without having to mess with the Regulation.bin X_X ... As nearly all Mods seem to affect the Reg.bin ... Wish i knew how to actually do that stuff ... lotta kewl ideas for modding this game, including a sizable QoL Overhaul idea ....
i've tried both this and the long hair, unique slot and replacer options, i have ray tracing off, i have mod engine 2 and i have made sure i've copied the right files into the right folder.
specifically i was trying the short bangs no earrings no ribbon.
hoping you can help me troubleshoot this?
edit: i managed to get slots 33 & 34 show up by replacing the regulation.bin file in my elden ring game folder, but the hairstyles are bald. i put the parts folder in the elden ring game folder, the mod loader folder, the mod engine folder, the mod engine mods folder, the character is always bald
sorry your having issues. Have you made sure you are on the right version? there was just an update fairly recently. On your main menu double check that it says version 1.09.1 and 1.09.1 calibrations version. other than what you can do is put my regulation bin back into mod engine. Then delete the vanilla regulation bin from the main install folder and use steam to check files and redownload a fresh one
yep i'm definitely on 1.09.1 (app & calibrations). i deleted the vanilla regulation.bin and verified to download a fresh one, still didnt work unfortunately.
there must have been something i've done that is slightly different to others, do you have a discord so i can share screenshots and we can look further into this?
NEVER MIND! i believe i may have missed a mod engine update? i just redownloaded it and it worked immediately!
thank you very much for responding so quickly, and thank you for the mod it looks great!

do you know the name for hairs 28, 29, 30, 31, and 32?

The most current ModEngine 2 version seems to be the one of August 22nd, 2022 (https://github.com/soulsmods/ModEngine2/releases). Can anyone confirm this?

Probably any special graphics options active?

I would love to play as Erza Scarlet.
Really nice mod btw.
Scrolls down until you see Sliders.
