When adding the effects is the only way to get them to start up in game only by switching the weapon or is there a way to have it always on no matter what?

Awesome guide! I was looking for something like this. What about adding Weapons that uses custom skins from other mods? Reason why I'm asking is, If you could achieve this there would be no need to replace modded gear with existing ones.
Another thing is, your guide is to add your weapons to the crafting menu, but i think adding weapon to drop tables is also possible.
