You need to unpack your game with UXM first, then patch your game with UXM, that's necessary. Once you finished patching your game, you can replace your files with mods as you like and don't need to repatch them.
Guess white boots would look weird. If you want silver boots or gloves, the Royal Knight Greaves and the Fire Prelate Gauntlets would be suitable, which also in this mod.
