Oh, these aren’t a mod to install. They’re pngs/dds images upscaled to 4K of sigils, insignias and tattoos from the game files to be used as profile pics, backgrounds, or in a mod you create, like putting a symbol onto an armor piece or cape. So this is more of a modders resource.
hey man, im a huge fan of your Yakul torrent reskin considering how big a fan I am of princess mononoke. I also looked into your in-depth tutorial on how to create recolors on my own. However, I found trouble when trying to repack everything and I can't seem to figure out the instructions, as im trying to recolor the exiled set to look like ashitaka to complete the look. if you have any more in depth instructions (using gimp), or even if you have time to do the recolor as a request- either would be appreciated. Thanks again
Thank you! What specifically do you have an issue with? Do you mean saving textures in GIMP, or putting the textures back into a compressed dcx file? Both are covered in the tutorial, but I can clarify for you if needed.
Sorry for the late response. I ended up figuring it out but the texture ended up washed out as mentioned in the instuctions, and gimp was hard for me to use/ not knowing how to section off specific pieces to recolor, as well as not knowing which way certain textures were facing. all in all I kind of gave up but I still appreciate the guide and will maybe try and tackle it again, otherwise ill just leave it to the pros and keep using other peoples incredible mods. Thanks again! ( and if you ever have the time/ motivation to do an ashitaka reskin ill be on the lookout!)
No worries! I think I might add in the instructions specifically what compression type to use. I know I said that it's the same as what you do in Photoshop, so you could look at what I said to use there and apply it to GIMP.
Selecting which parts of a texture to color is absolutely the hardest and most time-consuming part. You can often get lucky and the program you're using is able to correctly outline what you want with an Object Finder tool or Magic Wand Tool, which selects parts based on color. But half the time you have to trace/select by hand, and if you're like me, it'll take a while because I can't have a pixel out of place lol
I have a Modders Resource for Elden Ring that has various armors with pre-selected areas, making it easier to recolor them. You mentioned the Exile Set, which I do not have as a modders resource, but some of the other ones could help out. I probably won't be doing the reskin only because I do these mods for myself, and I choose to share them. I'll do requests every once in a while, but it depends on how extensive I'd need to research, and the time spent. I was able to do Yakul because I saw the similarities between him and Torrent; same with my Heide Knight recolor for Night's Cavalry.
As far as knowing where textures line up on the model, what I ended up doing was taking a bunch of screenshots in-game of what I'm working on, and then compare it to the textures to identify the pieces. You could also look at the models in FLVER Editor, which is linked in the tutorial.
Not sure if you'll see this but I'll write it just in case. I recently went through my Recolor Tutorial and edited parts of it that were incorrect, as pointed out by some users on Nexus and Discord. I think the issues you had may be because of that incorrect info. I don't want to go over the details here, but you can look at the posts on the Tutorial mod page to see the discussion I had figuring this out, as well as what was changed in the description page. Apologies for the confusion!

PS Can you make some slutty tattoos? I want to put them on a nude mod.
