1. Can you remove X part of Torrent or do color Y?
No. I will no longer be taking requests for new colors or modifications to the models. I have too many mods now and don't want to add unnecessarily to my work load.
2. Will you do 2K versions?
No. The methods I use to make my mods take a long time. I'm someone who is methodical and doesn't like to put less than 100% into my mods. Cutting out 2K versions saves MANY hours of work and a lot of hard drive space. It literally halves the amount I need to do. If it is truly an issue, you are free to downscale the textures in whatever way you see fit, but for personal use only. I do not allow the re-uploading of my mods.
3. Can I use this mod online?
No. No mods, not even simple recolors, can be used while online. You risk a ban otherwise.
4. I can't get the mod to work.
Please double check the installation section in the Description page. I test every single color and variation and they all work on my end. The most common reason is usually failing to extract the files of the mod before installing.
5. How did you make this?
My setup and the tools I used for this mod are listed at the bottom of the Description page.
Garden of Eyes released a fix for Torrent mods causing the game to crash on startup. I don't have control over when other mod authors learn about it and update their mods or if FromSoft will ever officially fix it, so for now, I'll share the fix here so that you can apply it to other Torrent mods that do not work with game version 1.09.1 and up. This is just for other Torrent replacement mods, my mod already has this fix applied to it.
Once downloaded, remember to extract the file. My anti-virus flagged and removed the program and I had to restore it, so just be aware of that if your anti-virus is testy like mine. Don't worry, it is safe to use; Garden of Eyes has made a ton of excellent stuff. All you have to do is drag/drop the file c8000.chrbnd of any Torrent mod to the program ERTorrentFixer. That's it! Install to your game as usual.
I learned about the fix through the Souls Modding Discord, here is an invite if anyone needs it.
Where exactly is it yellow? Do you mean the entirety of his mane and tail, or just certain parts? If you double check my screenshots, the top of the mane is black and the hair on his neck and chest is yellow to match the "skin". This is by design for the mod.
Yeah it was the entire mane, but it was because I also had the Backward Torrent mod, which for some reason made the entire mane yellow. But I wanted to take that mod off anyways because it makes you jump off the horse backwards
Ah, I see. Took a quick look at that mod and it uses the same files as mine, which means they can't be used together anyway. Glad you figured it out, though!
Can't wait to try this out when I get home. You have the closest thing I can find to making Torrent look like Spirit from the Dreamworks movie. Thanks so much for the mod!
Just for more options, I suppose. I don't use Vortex and never will but I know a lot of people do. I don't know exactly how it works, but I figured I'd keep the option there in case it's easier to manage/download/understand for people. If it's not viable for Elden Ring, I can remove the Vortex option.
How did you delete the saddle bags using FLVER Editor? Did you really delete that part of the model vertex-by-vertex or is there a mass-delete option that won't also slice off the lower or upper half of the saddle?
Originally, yes, it's deleted vertex by vertex in FLVER Editor. However, I learned of a much easier way using Blender where you can unwrap the UV maps on the textures, allowing for precise editing/deletion. I'm sure people familiar with Blender already knew that was an option, but I had never really touched it until modding for Elden Ring.
I've tried editing stuff using Blender, but upon importing it back into the game, they'll be missing the bones/animation--like I tried editing some leg armour and while the textures were there once I re-assigned them to the meshes via FLVER Editor, they didn't have an animation and would just hover at the bottom of my character. I don't want to ask too much, but I was hoping I could get some advice on what steps you took to import the models back into the game.
You had the exact issue I did. I had to hunt for the answer. You need a couple more programs: Bloodborne Tools and Noesis. Bloodborne Tools can be hard to find, so here's a Google Drive link for it: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1bPk_OmjSGXImjmlqtoTW7P4h2EeDMrf8?usp=sharing
Process is simple. Drag/drop the flver file onto the Bloodborne_model file. It'll create a sdm and acsii files. Next, open up the sdm file in Noesis to then convert it into an fbx file. Then import that fbx file into Blender; the skeleton, bones, UVs, etc should all display correctly. When you're done doing whatever you need to do in Blender, export it as an fbx file. Then you open up FLVER Editor and import that FBX file. There's another tool called FbxImporter which can make things easier when dealing with double meshes/materials (it's now been implemented into the new FLVEREditor).
Not sure if you're aware but a new version of FLVEREditor is being developed by Pear which will probably become the new standard as the original one hasn't been updated for years. Yes, it still works, but is very old. The new version is available on the Souls Modding Discord and GitHub. I highly recommend you join that server; the invite link is in a previous Stickied comment.
Yeah, I did join that server, so I'm using the new FLVER Editor, but it still doesn't have good actual... model editing capabilities. I heard that Bloodborne Tools was outdated and have been using the Aquatools Souls Model Tool which directly changes the flver files into fbx files. From the sound of it, I'm not sure where I messed up, because it sounds like I did basically everything that you mentioned except for things that were "skipped" because I already had programs that covered a step like the Souls Model Tool and the new FLVER Editor with FbxImporter. So I'm not sure what went wrong, and maybe I just need to try again in case I messed something small but crucial up somewhere.
Yeah Bloodborne Tools is old, and I’m not going to pretend I fully understand why, but it does allow for proper conversion of flver models without messing with skeletons and whatnot. The steps and tools I laid out for you still work as I just did it a couple months ago with my most recent mods.
Hi, I really like your mod, you did a good job, I hope you can fix the compatibility issues with the game version. Do you plan to do other mods in the future to change the skin from Torrent?
Thanks! I don't have the necessary skills needed to change Torrent's model into something new. I'd recommend ApolloHoo's mods as they're doing just that with great success, or the ones that change him to the Night's Cavalry or Kaiden Horse. However, they don't work right now with game version 1.09. It's not the mods at fault but the game version. To my knowledge, the only workaround would cause animations/physics to be disabled and I honestly think that's worse. We just have to cross our fingers that a future update from FromSoft will fix it.
ohh thank you very much I had not seen that there were these mods, they are just perfect, I will try when they work correctly, I would have hoped that FS could add these elements in dlc but it would surprise me a lot if they did. I think we will still have to rely on the community to be able to get the game we want ^^
It's true, the sooner the better, it's a bit frustrating to see all these mods broken because of a simple game version change...
I saw that ApolloHoo had not yet made a mod for the Draconic Tree Sentinel horse,it would be nice if he developed it in the future, we could have all the horses in the game to make cosplays :D
The Garden of Eyes Overhaul mod has the Draconic Tree Sentinel as a skin for Torrent. However the mod is currently only available through their Patreon so you’d have to pay for it. I have no idea if the whole overhaul will ever come to Nexus, but some of the elements from it have made it to Nexus as separate mods (like the Fortnite dances).
Yep, looks like some Torrent mods do not work with 1.09. (like with 1.08). What I've ended up doing is bringing back the 6.0 version of this mod, set it to version 8.0, which works with game version 1.09.
When FromSoft released patch 1.08.1, it fixed the issue. Here's hoping for 1.09.1...
EDIT: The issue wasn't resolved with game updates, however a fix by the community was made and works. See Stickied comment dated April 23rd, 2023.
I'm honestly confused on why it's crashing for people. I just tested my own Torrent mod with a friend. We both are on 1.08, and are both using the exact same mods in Mod Engine 2 Preview 4. As far as I could see, everything was the same between us. And yet, he crashes on startup, but I don't.
He has to remove c8000.chrbnd.dcx from the chr folder for Mod Engine for the game to load. But I load just fine with that file. All the mods are loading properly for me, and Torrent is modified as expected from my mod.
It's so weird, I can't seem to replicate the crashing.
I'm not trying to say my mod is better btw, I'm just legit confused about this problem everyone is having while I try to troubleshoot this crashing issue.
That’s definitely frustrating. For my mod, I was also crashing when I saw people reporting it. I tried what you suggested about verifying files and not using any other mods and the game still crashes with any Torrent mod.
I saw someone mention in the Souls modding Discord that a very old c8000.chrbnd.dcx still works on 1.08, so is there a possibility that the one you’re testing has that? Maybe also try downloading your own mod and test what other people will have? I know for myself I sometimes use personalized versions of my own mods that are slightly different to what I upload.
I'm using the same 7zip files I uploaded for my Torrent mod, I never deleted them. But I'll download the ones from my mod page and try those later, even though they are the same 7zip packs. But yea, the c8000.chrbnd.dcx for my mod are rather old, the original upload was back in April.
I just tried your mod and it also causes my game to crash. I also attempted the White Torrent mod, which edits c8000.chrbnd and was uploaded in April (nor updated since), but it also crashes. Watch, the solution is going to be really simple but we can't see it yet lmao
Hey guys, is it possible it has to do with some graphics options? Maybe HonorKnight26 is supposed to see something which crashes his game (just like mine) and GxREDx has lower/other options active?
I doubt it's graphics or hardware related. But, I run the game at 1080p (1440p while testing mods), Max settings, except Depth of Field and Motion Blur turned off.
As far as hardware, I'm using a GTX 1080 (516.94 Driver), i7 8086k, 16 GB RAM, and the game is installed on an NVMe SSD. I don't have any HDDs, only SSDs.
My specs are listed in the description page. I thought it might’ve been ReShade but uninstalling it didn’t change anything. This is quite the conundrum…
So strange lol. Didn't have time to test further since I've been busy with a commissioned mod. Still bizarre that I was not affected by the Torrent crashing. Glad it's fixed though.
Mod Engine 2 is not crashing the game, it’s specifically any mod that edits Torrent’s model. This mod no longer does that as I reverted to the default model. Until I or someone else figures out why editing Torrent’s model crashes the game, no Torrent mods will work unless they make no changes to his model. The other hope is the next game update.

Also just now tried the White Torrent mod. It's not crashing either.

Game version 1.08.1 has resolved the issue with Torrent mods.
My recommendations.
Use eldenring mod loader only.
For mod like this one, manually drop the file and replace when asked for, important step just click open UXM click patch after that.
Tryed it and no problem at all.
So there are mod you can still install with eldenring mod loader and other that need to be installed manually, save the original file first.
Worked for me am on 1.08 and all the mod i run just perfectly works again and without the use of mod engine this time !
For sure the cheat disabler mod is needed, you can just run elden from steam no problem.
