Elden Ring

So with the latest official update to Elden Ring adding Ray Tracing, many people are reporting crashing issues upon launching the game, loading a save file, or interacting with certain objects.

While a fix will likely come in the form of a 1.09.1 update, (lol. lmao.) currently there are steps that can be taken that have resolved these issues for some users:

1) Disable Ray Tracing. This can be done in-game in the graphics settings, but for users without an RTX enabled graphics card, the option will be grayed out. You can ensure that the setting is turned off by opening %APPDATA%\EldenRing\GraphicsConfig.xml with notepad, and disable RayTracing by modifiying its XML entry like so:

<RaytracingQuality>DISABLE</RaytracingQuality>

(note that this file can also be reached with Unalloyed by using the "SaveData" shortcut, then moving up one directory)

2) Validate your game files on Steam. Right click the game, then click Properties, then under the "Local Files" tab, hit "Verify Integrity of Game Files". The resulting message should read that it validated all 567 files successfully. If you get a number that is any lower than this, it may be wise to validate a second time.

3) Update your graphics card drivers.

4) Try starting a new game, then returning to the title screen and loading your crashing save file.

5) Make sure Seamless Coop is up to date and compatible with the current game version.

6) If none of the above work, try playing with all mods disabled and seeing if your crashing issues are unrelated to 1.09 and instead being caused by some other mod. Replicating a crash using only one mod is very valuable data for mod authors, if you can manage to consistently run into a particular crash, reporting it concisely to the mod author with reproduction steps, a save file, and for Seamless, a crashdump from Elden Ring\Game\SeamlessCoop\crashdumps\reports is much appreciated.
