They were from an experiment I made. In DL1 you could use the raw script files in your documents folder where the save file is held. This is no longer the case. Since Nexus removed the ability to delete mod files, its been archived instead. Otherwise nothing is different with them.
First off, I want to thank you for the great mod, it makes the game much more immersive. I don't think time passing faster in games is a bad thing at all, but a 20min night is a little short in my opinion... And I also didn't really enjoy how day was twice as long as night, or the way it passed slower in interiors.
The reason why I'm typing this comment though is because I noticed a very small mistake in your description and I thought you'd like to know. You said "So if you want nights to last 30 minutes real time you do the following math: 30 minutes > seconds = 1800 * 24 = 43200"" and it's not exactly true. 43200 isn't going to make the night/day last 30 minutes, it's going to make every *hour* last 30 minutes.
It actually does. In game weather is tied to in game time, not real time. By default they can last anywhere from 40 min to 1hr 30 min in game time. So by default they only hast for a few minutes in real world time. Increase this by whatever multiplier mod you've decided to use.
I could make a mod similar to this one that increases how long they last, but I've seriously never ran into any of said storms yet (and I've been playing for over 12 hrs so far). Once I get a storm I'll get to testing of changing any values actually does anything.
Yes, please! Much appreciated if you do. The rainy weather looks so good in this game. I'd love for it to rain for like an hour in real time. I'm using 4x.
Damn I have some bad news on this idea for weather. Turns out, none of the changes made to weatherdata.scr (which has the commands to add random weather, the chance of rain after death, and how long storms last in general) never get used in the game itself. Took me a few hours just to realize this so its a huge bummer to see rain, thinking it was working, only to see it pass in the default 40-60 minutes set there.
Again, weather will pass at whatever speed you have modded in, but the longest weather pattern you'll generally see upwards to an hour in game.
For those who wanna know, I'll list the weather patterns below:
There is a chance of a storm, rain or fog after reloading or sleep that lasts 60 minutes (day/night)
There is a 30% chance for the weather to change after death (day/night)
25% random chance of fog between 06:00 - 07:05 (determined at 00:00)
50% random chance of clear weather all day and night (determined at 00:00)
25% random chance of rain between 15:00 - 24:00 (determined at 00:00)
Night storms (the one with howling wind) have a low chance to occurs at predetermined times (22:00, 00:55, 02:10, 03:20). They range from 40minutes to 1hr 30min
Night rain (simple rain) has a low chance to occur at predetermined times (22:00, 01:30, 05:00) and generally last an hour on average
None of these events stack it seems. Only one weather event a day.
That is bad news. Weather is one of the most impactful things to change the experience. And it looks so good in this game! Hopefully a way will be discovered eventually. Thanks for investigating.
Seeing your post now after i modded the file and i added some scenarios and new random triggers and it seems to work. i have seen weather conditions i have not seen before, still could be placebo but im still observing.
Do you think its not working because you did not see any difference from the chances you made and/or also because you can delete the pak file containing the modded file while the game is running (and windows not saying, its in use)?

Also, does this make weather last longer as well? I'd love to have sustained rainfall lasting longer than a brief summer shower.
