Darkness Falls introduces comprehensive changes to the gameplay experience in the zombie-infested world, enhancing various aspects including zombie behavior, weather dynamics, character abilities, equipment options, vendor interactions, weapon mechanics, and more. During both day and night, spawn rates are increased, with particularly significant boosts at night. Additionally, more dangerous Volatiles are introduced, making nighttime gameplay more intense. Chase sequences are intensified with the inclusion of multiple zombie types and higher levels. Volatiles now pose a greater threat, with increased numbers and improved speed, making evading them more challenging. Various improvements are made to gameplay mechanics, including enhanced parkour and combat physics, expanded inventory capacity, and increased distances for survivor senses and compass visibility. Additionally, weather effects are diversified with new conditions and scenarios. Players benefit from improved abilities such as increased stamina, better camouflage for stealth, and expanded field of view options. Blocking abilities are also enhanced to counter a wider range of attacks. Special attention is given to equipment, with enhancements to grappling mechanics, glider movement, and inventory management. Inventory management is streamlined with increased capacity, allowing for easier transfer of items between stash and inventory, including special Easter egg items. Players can acquire unique items like a Flying Dog, Hoverboard, and KaDoom Shotgun, adding fun and quirky elements to the gameplay experience. Vendor interactions are enriched with improved rewards and accessibility, making it easier for players to acquire essential items and upgrades. Weapon mechanics are overhauled, with adjustments to durability, mod slots, and damage attributes. New firearms and bows are introduced, offering players a wider arsenal to combat the undead threat.

Before installing:

  • If you use any of my other mods (besides overnight legend and save game vault) please uninstall them before using this mod. 
  • If you use any other mods that alter physics, gore, stash, vendors, or player variables please uninstall them before using this mod.
  • To help avoid conflicts i listed the files used within this mod on the ➡️ DOCS  page.

How to install: 
  • Drop DataX.pak into the following location.
  • Drive:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Dying Light 2\ph\source
  • Start Game.

Troubleshooting:
  • 99% of the time all of my mods work in both SP and MP (online)
    - Please try the steps/methods below in the scenario that select features stop working.

  • Story Agent (vendor) features aren't working?
    - Open steam > Look top left and click "STEAM" > "Go Offline..." > Launch DL2

  • Player Variable features (stamina, glider, grapple, etc) aren't working?
    - Solution 1: Open game > Settings > Disable Community Event Participation
    - Solution 2: Open steam > Look top left and click "STEAM" > "Go Offline..." > Launch DL2

  • Why do i need to go offline in some scenarios?
    - This is because during events, Techland prevents certain files from being modified.
  • How do i find redeemable items? (custom blueprints, easter egg items etc)
    - Open game > Load Save > Stash > Extras > Scroll down

  • How do i buy exotic guns?
    - Go to stash > Extras > Scroll down until you find "weapon blueprints" > Craft weapon parts > spend at firearms vendor.
  • Can i use add-ons on their own?
    - yes, add-ons do not require the installation of the main mod to work.

Zombies: (Optional Add-on)
  • Day time:
    - Spawn rate moderately increased.
    - Increased 'Dark Zone' spawns.
    - Some biters have the ability to charge and climb like virals (with the exception of weak and armored biter types)

  • Night time:
    - Spawn rate significantly increased. 
    - More roaming Volatiles
    - Banshees are more likely to attack you than to run away.

  • Pursuit (chase)
    - Multiple zombie types (Viral, Banshee, Charger, Volatile, Volatile Tyrant)
    - Level 5 (vanilla is 4)
    - More volatiles can chase you at once.
    - Volatiles can get closer to you during chase.
    - Volatiles overall speed increased.

  • General Changes:
    - Zombie event spawns have been increased (special volatiles, bolters etc)
    - Increased Gore
    - Ragdoll Physics
    - City has a higher spawn rate than old town @ street level and during day time. (night time is pretty much equally as f*cked)

    
Proper Dynamic Weather: (Permission granted by DomShadow123)
  • 9 new random weather definitions/conditions (Vanilla: 3)
  • 25 new predefined weather scenarios with preset time and duration (Vanilla: 7)

Character:
  • FoV slider is much more effective and allows for a wider range of options!
  • Improved parkour/combat physics
  • Improved blocking ability (block more attack types like projectiles and charges etc)
  • Improved stamina
  • Improved camo (stealth)
  • Inventory size increased x2
  • Custom stash w/ redeemable items.
  • Increased survivor sense distance

    - Token price = vanilla.
    - Mutation Sample price = -90%

    - All items unlocked @ level 1.

  • Firearms vendor
    - All items unlocked @ level 1.
    - Token price = vanilla.
    - All guns are bought using custom "weapon parts".

Weapons:
  • Weapon Durability changes:
    - weapons will lose durability, but at a very slow pace.
    - vanilla is 0.75 - 1.0. (meaning every hit takes 1 point, or close to it)
    - new modified value is 0.1. (every 10 hits takes 1 point)
  • Max mod slots for all weapons.
  • Adds more variety to gun/bow tiers.
  • Increased gore probabilities.
  • Drop and share Ammo, Guns, Harpoon, Ballista, Hunter Crossbow, Hakon Crossbow, and PK Crossbow.
  • Removed "mod visuals" (the ugly knives etc that they attach to our weapons) (charms are still visible)

Guns (General Info)
  • New custom guns! 
  • Modified damage, recoil, fire rate, reload time, bullet velocity and drop off. 
  • Increased magazine capacities of golden gun variants:

    - Shotgun +4
    - Rifle +10
  • Firearm ammo count:
    - Shotgun=120
    - SMG=700
    - Rifle=500
    - Pistol=300
  • Firearm ammo blueprints! (craft ammo)
    - 3 versions; small, medium large.
  • Ammo blueprint cost:
    - Pistol; 4 bullets per 1 scrap
    - Smg; 5 bullets per 1 scrap
    - Rifle; 3 bullets per 1 scrap
    - Shotgun; 2 shells per 1 scrap

Custom Guns:
  • 2 Ways to obtains these guns
    - Blueprints from stash (produces common rarity only)
    - Purchase from firearms vendor (read more below 'How to build EXOTIC firearms)
  • Glock 18C (full auto pistol) 
  • DMR (semi auto rifle)
  • Benelli M3 (extremely fast fire rate)
  • RAYGUN (you know what this is, and yes, it shoots lasers)

NOTE 1: custom guns do not effect vanilla guns. My custom guns are their own entity.
NOTE 2: crafting guns results in a common tier. purchase from vendor with weapon parts for higher tiers. (read below image)


How to build EXOTIC firearms:
  • Go to your stash and redeem the "Weapons Blueprint".
  • Use this blueprint from within your crafting menu to create "Weapon Parts".
  • Weapon part crafting cost: 10 Scrap + 2 Wires = 1 Weapon Part.
  • Go to the firearms vendor at the fisheye to spend your "Weapon Parts" on legendary and exotic firearms! 

Gun Tier Rebalance:
  • Worn Guns - Increased from Rare to Unique
  • Military Guns - Increased from Unique to Artifact/Legendary
  • Gold Military Guns - Increased from Artifact to Exotic

Bow Tier Rebalance:

  • Bows lvl 1-2 - Common
  • Bows lvl 3-4 - Rare
  • Bows lvl 5-6 - Unique
  • Bows lvl 7-8 - Artifact 
  • Bows lvl 9    - Legendary

Increased the following weapons from Unique to Legendary:
  • PK Crossbow
  • Hakon Crossbow 
  • Hunter Crossbow

Increased the following items to EXOTIC:
  • Ballista
  • Scorpio (Harpoon)
  • The First Pilgrim Crossbow
  • Carnage Manica (accessory)

  • You will not lose your Night Runner Tools when starting a new game plus.
  • Fury Booster (volatile mode for 90 seconds, check stash for craftplan)
