Anyway the mod is updated now for version 1.16.2 and it still modifies player_variables.scr file and will conflict with other mods that modify that file. The only workaround is to merge those mods.
is there a chance for an update? I wanted to come back after a long time after my save was deleted by mistake and I don't want to keep leveling for a very long time. I really hope for updates to the mod
Sorry but no. I've given up on modding DL2. They keep releasing updates constantly and I don't have the patience to keep updating my mods anymore. The updates don't interest me anymore either.
I highly doubt it because with every update they keep adding new stuff and that means new lines of code into the file that mods change. Using a mod for an older version will not have those new lines of code that the latest version has.
I think I've finally given up on modding this game because they are now frequently updating the game and every time they release updates mod files need to be updated too and I just don't have the patience for that anymore. That and the last time I played it the game fucked up my save file at the very last mission.
It does not unfortunately. I just copied the changes I did to the last version into the new version's files so I didn't change anything new added in that version.

I cannot confirm if this still works for the latest version 1.12 so use it with that version at your own risk.
Please make sure your game files are clean, uninstall all your mods and verify your game files via steam.
