About this mod

Do you want the Van Crane boomerang effect without having to wear the outfit? I got you covered.

A small and surprisingly simple edit to give the player the Van Crane outfit's boomerang effect at all times, regardless of outfit. This mod simply attaches the outfit's effect to the Melee Throw skill itself, so as soon as you unlock the ability to throw your weapons, you'll start snatching them back. As such it's not compatible with any mod that alters the common_skills xml.

There is also an optional version that instead attaches the effect to the Grapple Hook skill instead of the Melee Throw skill for those that need that logical consistency or just more of a sense of progression. After all, how are you snatching it back without the actual rope to do it with? (Granted, the Van Crane outfit does it even if you lack the Grapple Hook too.) You obviously still need the Melee Throw skill to, y'know, actually throw the weapon but yeah. Small warning that it's not as thoroughly tested as the main version, so use at your own risk.

Please note that in some to most to possibly *all* instances depending, you won't always actually SEE the rope like you can with the Van Crane outfit. You will still hear the sound effect though. I have no idea why or how to fix that BUT the boomerang effect still works even when the graphic is missing. Hopefully sometimes (or possibly always) having an invisible, telekinetic mind rope instead isn't a deal breaker for you. (If anyone knows why or how to fix this, please let me know.)

Standard data3 replacement installation. Loose files are also included for those that may want them. Feel free to report any issues. I may not know how to fix them, as this was something I just tried to see if it would work, but I could try.

1/3/24: SHOULD be updated to the newest version using the same common_skills xml from the current build's file. Also updated the file path/structure within the data3 pak for less clutter and possible conflict. Old file path is still available as version 1.1 under optional files though, in case the new path has issues. Both have been tested and are working as far as I can tell. Again the above warning about fixing things though lol
