This is a nice improvement to the game. Sadly I had to remove it as it was causing the game to crash with the following error:
"A fatal error has occurred and the app must shut down
Critical error: VirtualAlloc(5592420, 16384) failed with error 'Not enough memory resources are available to process this command.'! Sorry but must go to sleep now"
(Having removed the HRT files, it has not crashed once)
To anyone having the out of memory error issue with this HQ Texture pack search for techpowerup Large Address Aware and patch the dungeonsiege.exe with that utility, it takes 2 seconds (Back it up first!) worked for me and its SMOOOOTH now!!! I can now play the Ultima 5 Lazarus Mod with this HQ Texture pack!!! mad respect for both projects and for this guy leading me to this solution with his amazing wiki for Dungeon Siege GenesisFR/DS1TroubleshootingGuide over on github!
Is LOA absolutely required for this? Yes I saw the requirement notice, but sometimes that's flexible. Since one of the files is for LOA specifically (DSLOA_HRT_00.dsres) I'm curious if it might work if that's not installed. Thanks.
Edit: Installed mid-game (without DSLOA_HRT_00.dsres) and it seemed to work.
added this mod to my steam version (i am not new to modding games) followed the install read me step by step and when i load game or start new game i get a pop up saying exception detected this will take a few mintues...then it will say done and crash right away. i added the required Legends of Aranna 1st and threw in the mod monty haul as well for more space. the game worked fine until i added this mod. im not sure what to change or delete to make this work.
I also noticed this mod does not work with Monty's Haul, when I have both high textures and the monty installed, my game keeps saying exception detecting and crashes. When I removed Monty's Haul, this mod works fine. Shame, I'd wanna have bigger inventory too, but better looking graphics win :D
I can't praise this enough. The environment textures were so low resolution before. I play this in 4K, with this mod, the extended view mod and an FOV edit and it's sublime. Thanks for completing it.
I'd be interested to know more about your setup, if you don't mind sharing? I tried it in 1920x1080 and the performance really suffers, plus it's really hard to read text or manage the inventory as it's that much smaller. I've reverted to 1024x768 for now and it's fine to play but looks as old as it is.
Bear in mind I'm running on an i7 9700K, 64GB RAM and a GTX 1080 Ti, driving 3 x Dell Ultrasharp U2417H monitors in a Surround configuration (I play most other games in 5760x1080 and even Doom Eternal is smooth as butter on Ultra settings)

One question, does it not seem to work on characters? Although, their vanilla textures are better than the rest.
Note: I've read the Steam version has another files. In the GOG version works like a charm. I recommend that if a game is on GOG, use that version. And that advise is for most games.
Steam version is fine as long you add the missing expansion using the steam guides, gog's version is actually the worse release of them all. Thank you for sending that picture tho, appreciate it
I know it is on the requirements, and don't say "Optional but Recommended", but Legends of Aranna is mandatory? Cause I'm about to uninstall all and run only DS, don't want the expansions or other campaigns for now. But for sure I want this mod and See Far, so if required, will keep as I am now.
EDIT: Reinstalled DS only, no expansion, and textures works fine, also SeeFar mod. I don't know if still way in late game, but the start is smooth.
