I just listened to your demo video and it's a vast improvement. Like you took the sounds from Analog to Digital, like what EAX was supposed to do. Too bad the game doesn't recognize my onboard audio as having EAX ability.
A must-have mod, well done. Now if only you can get your other mod (1.25 Mod) working properly.
Better Sounds now has an optional download that provides a fix for EAX - allowing it to be re-enabled if the files are correctly deposited in the installation directory. Not my creation, but a license has been provided.
I have a question on how to solve the problem of disappearing sounds in DS. I mean during the battle, not at the beginning of the game where one character, but a little later, when you already have a whole party and the battle is with a large number of enemies. It feels like because of the large number of sounds part of the sound is cut out / swallowed, and that with EAX/DSOAL, that with standard game sound. Is there any solution to this problem? Your mod has no effect on this unfortunately.
All you have to do is drop .dsres into the resources folder. This can be found in documents/my games/Dungeon Siege 1 (or legends of Aranna), or at the location the game was installed. If you choose to the documents, and there isn't a resource folder, you'll have to create a new folder and name it such.
Past that point, it just automatically is selected. Dungeon Siege has a mechanism where every resource that changes or adds something outside of the ones that it installs (Logic, Objects, Terrain, etc etc) it automatically overwrites the data.
I looked at the original file , and for whatever reason, it's actually about the same size as the latest version. But there are a few very, very oddities about it. I can't open it in the dsres extractor, and for whatever reason, it seems to have somehow been uploaded incorrectly. Assuming you see this before it's updated, I'll be working on a patch ASAP. Sorry for the inconveniences!
