Also I should ask about your workflow post the October update, which I'm told gives some sort of poblem.
You basically >Got blender >imported the mesh you wanted. >edited the mesh you wanted >replicated the same file/folder structure path to be replaced >used fluffy to upload mod >done?
The October update only changed the mesh format from example.mesh.231011879 to example.mesh.240423143. To update the mesh format you just need to import the 231011879 mesh and export it as 240423143 mesh with RE Mesh Editor. Besides that nothing much has changed and yeah what

That's pretty much it, though I have never used Fluffy to upload a mod.
yo, when you port over a custom mesh how do you fix the "checkerboard" texture? I'm trying to make an edit to an armor in the game, mainly just removing stuff like this mod.
Checkerboard texture means that there is a problem with the .mdf material file. The amount of materials that the mesh has needs to match the mdf file. It can also happen if the names of the materials don't match. For example, if you were to edit a mesh and remove all parts that use "am_538_Leather_mat" you would need to remove it from the mdf file too. My DD2 modding notes delve a bit deeper into custom armor mods.
For material editing you need to use MDF Manager. You just need to open the mdf file and right click on a material and "Delete Selected Material". The tools I use for modding are listed in the description of my mods and also in the modding notes.
right, i compared what I needed to delete, saved that mdf file, and placed it into the folder structure I wanted to replace. I edited tops_009_wb_f.mesh in blender so, I took those texture files (named wb) and also placed them in the same folder structure.
I will double check but last time I still got the chess texture.

All I did(for context) was
>remove some parts from the mesh in blender
>cut a shape into a mesh in blender
