Beside subjective of personal taste/preference, I knew that so many type and models of Monitors/TVs out there. LCD/LED/OLED/QLED ; IPS/TN/VA... etc. And they have their own characteristic (from neutral colors to vibrant colors, high to low gamma/black levels/white point, etc).
Therefore I made a simple adjustment UI for this mod. You can adjust Dark Level, Light Intensity, Color Saturation***, Sharpness etc.by press END keyboard button to show-up Reshade UI. Adjust the value to matching with your current screen (Monitor/TV) profile or fit with your taste/liking.
*** for some certain screen with HDR mode, some illuminated light colors may feel too strong (e.g blue in the daylight~ from sky; or orange in the night ~ from fire/torch), you may try to lowering the "Color Saturation" value from +0.250 (my default value) to zero or even minus (e.g -0.200) to avoid this issue.
I've uploaded a patch for those who are running this mod in HDR mode but end-up with too much Blue color in Daylight (come from sky) or too much Orange in Night scene (come from fire/torch/lantern). You can download it under "Optional files" section. Just extract it into the same folder that already mention on Description, and override my old files from my previous installation. (for new users, you will need to install the main files before apply this patch).
Hi, Thanks for already post workaround regarding to latest REF Nightly (Credit to you, and LarryT).
I'm sorry now I have been away from home for a long trip, so I'm away from my PC gaming too ;) Therefore, your post is the best temporary solution to solve it.
** That workaround is only for those who updated their REFramework to the latest Nightly build to get some additional mod functions. BUT if you ONLY need to using my custom shader without any additional mod function (e.g VR function), you don't need to update the REFramework to the latest build. Just extract all my original files into the installation folder that already mention in the description section on this mod page.I have already tested with the latest DD2 update and all works so fine here (in my PC).
*** Update: with the newer RE Framework (Nightly 878), you don't need to copy shader files into \Dragons Dogma 2\_storage_folder. It seems already automatically duplicate the current reshade runtime (dxgi.dll) into that folder, and everything run so fine without any changes. Thanks PrayDogs for your great work! :)
sometimes, new patch can cause incompatible with your current REFramework.
You can do these steps to solve the problem, if you face a problem occurred after update game with a new patch from Capcom: - Download the newest Praydog's REFramework from here : https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma2/mods/8 - Replace my original dinput8.dll file with the newer one that come with Praydog's newest REFramework zipped file. - Delete folder named : _storage_ - Run the game, waiting for a moment until you reach out game's main menu (on the background, REFramework will re-create a new _storage_ folder and its necessary files inside it) - Enjoy it.
If you found your game become got micro stuttering after apply new patch, you can do these steps: - Exit/Close your game. - Delete a file named shader.cache2 in your Dragon Dogma folder - Run your game again, and waiting until game engine finished "recompile shader" - Enjoy it! ;) Do every time you get a new patch from Capcom, and then you will fine. Not just for my mod, but also some other mods that need Praydog's REFramework.
Добрый день, прошу прощения за вопрос, возможно я что-то упустил, но после установки этого мода игра просто не запускается. черный экран с меню, и больше ничего не происходит, можно ли это решить? или удалить мод вручную?
holy now my game is crystal clear no blurry text this is crazy the difference is night and day amazing mod but how heavy is it on performance? it seems like im losing 20+ fps in all areas with this
I can confirm that this causes the game to crash after the new update on 6/27. For people struggling to get their game up and running again:
You have to restore your original dinput8 file in \steamapps\common\Dragons Dogma 2. Simply verifying the game files with Steam won't work you have to delete the file first and then verify through Steam. To be on the safe side I'd also delete the dinput8 file in \steamapps\common\Dragons Dogma 2\_storage_ Along with any other files related to this mod before verifying.
Unsure if necessary but I also deleted shader.cache2
This is exactly what i needed for this game. The ability to adjust the settings without having to install Reshade is awesome. I can tweak all of them exactly how i want, not just a MOD with predefined shading like others on here.
Thank you so much for making this game playable! Its such a disgrace the state of AAA gaming. $70 for a "AAA" game that looks worse than something that came out 5 years ago, and runs so badly DLSS and FG are a necessity. But after turning them on, it looks terrible, so this helps bring some much needed sharpening and clarity. DLSS was intended for gamers to get a little more longevity from older hardware, not a crutch for developers so they can release terribly optimized games.
I had DaVinci's reshade before I saw yours, I Just gotta say, how was you able to do this withouth impacting performance? (I don't actually care about the technical reasons lol) Just wanted to say thank you. DaVinci's reshade looks as awesome as yours but that one takes 15 - 20 Fps straight up and doesn't have an HDR option and I needed it. Keep up bro!!
Hi, I’m sorry I have been busy recently, and during my spare time I only playing Fallout 4 Nextgen and made some simple mods for it. I didn’t much pay attention to Dragon Dogma 2. :)
UPDATE info #1 : I've tested with the newest DD2 update, but everything run fine here. I don't have other mods installed except this mod only. Is your problem occurs caused by some other mods?
what is your DD2.exe file version?
UPDATE info #2 : I've even try with the newest PrayDog's RE Framework (Github developer build d83a779 (Nightly 878)), everything run so fine. No need to change anything. But once again, I don't have other mod installed except mine.
It turns out that somewhere during the Ref update it seems like you don't need to put the Shaders files in the Storage folder anymore, that was my problem. After deleting that folder and installing this mod like usual, everything went fine again.
How you installed it? I believe there is something wrong or missing step within your installation process. Read the description and sticky post above, how to install it properly.
You may try it :) I’m still stuck in the middle state of game. I didn’t reach that level yet (to test it).
but I doubt it. Since in that level, all light source also in Red color. All you have to do (maybe) is turn down the color saturation to reduced reddish effects. Red and blue color are become stronger if you playing in HDR mode.
As you suggested, I had to desaturate the display and increase the colour temperature to reduce the reddish hue. It's still slightly red but it's more comfortable to my eyes now.

quick video preview:
Just extract it into the same folder that already mention on Description, and override my old files from my previous installation.
(for new users, you will need to install the main files before apply this patch).
No need to close or restart the game, just Go to "Shaders" folder:
\steamapps\common\Dragons Dogma 2\simple-realistic\Shaders
Copy all the files in it (Cinema3D.fx ; DragonDogma2.fx ; ReShade.fxh ; ReShadeUI.fxh)
Then paste them all in "_storage_" folder:
\steamapps\common\Dragons Dogma 2\_storage_
Now back to the game, press Home to open ReShade, hit Reload then enjoy the game!

And what about turning on performance mode in the reshade UI?
