As this is still an early version of the mod and I haven't had the time to test it thoroughly, I strongly recommend backing up your saves using one of the many tools available here on the Nexus, or manually by copying the "Steam\userdata\[SteamID]\2054970\remote\win64_save" folder somewhere before using the mod.

Things I'd like to do, but haven't yet figured out:
    -Add a quick load option.
-Add a dedicated third saving slot.

This is a great idea, I was just thinking about this yesterday. What would be amazing is if it could create an alternate save file, and or back up a previous save as well.

If you haven't check out CharacterManager's UI. It has a drop down list and spot to save a file in a custom folder. If you could have your own custom save that is placed externally of the normal save files that would be awesome. Although, I am assuming all your mod does is trigger the save functions the game already has in place, which may limit what the mod is capable of.

Either way, this is an excellent mod, just as is because you could certainly use the "Inn Save" as your quick save file.

There's definitely a way to have more save slots. I believe we can go up to 999 at least.

You just need to change the first argument in the app.SaveDataManager.requestSaveManual() method.
Using 100 for example will create a data100Slot.bin file in the game saves folder.

Unfortunately, since I haven't yet figured out how to initiate a load, I can't actually load saves made in different save slots.

that makes sense and swapping files around is a bit sketchy for a mod to do

FYI I tested your mod and it seems to work spectacularly, I had a few ideas for indication that a file is saved.

Again, I don't know if these methods are possible, but I've seen other mods do similar things.
Maybe use the rearmament special effect (except don't swap any weapons).
Maybe have custom text appear on the screen and then fade out after a second.
Or, maybe, you could trigger some kind of sound effect, rather than a visual effect.

For others: I use the Inn Save as my "quick save" as it won't be overwritten by normal and autosaves. It works flawlessly (as far as I can tell) and will load you in the exact spot you "quick saved".

I've uploaded a new optional file which allows you to choose between 20 different slots for your inn save.

It's not the prettiest tool and I'll look into making something more usable, but it's usable in the meantime. Set the slider to whichever slot you want your inn saves to use (for both loading and saving). The tooltip shows you when the save was made.

This can be used standalone for people who are not interested in the main mod.

So I'm in need of a mod that turns off auto saves. making manual menu (and inn) saves the only ones. I Really enjoy making clips in DD2, but it's way more tedious with the game auto saving all the time under weird conditions. Curious if you or anyone else could help me out!

Hi, I've uploaded a file in the "optional" category which should hopefully disable the game's autosaves. I don't have the time to test it however, so please make backups of your save files before using it.

If you (or anyone else) wants to have a look at modding saves yourself, my findings were that when the game saves it calls "app.SaveDataManager.requestSaveManual", with the first argument being the "save slot". Autosaves seem to use slot 0, while inn saves use slot 1.

Many thanks! I'll let you know how it goes!

Update: Sadly auto saves still trigger but they fail to finish. So the little circle just keeps spinning forever haha. Same result from manual saving. I also tried your quick save mod too but those quick saves seem to be disabled as well, I tried loading those saves from main menu, but I just kept loading the same save I made before installing the mod(s). I didn't try using the inn rest save though, so I can only guess that's not effected. Not gonna bother with that for now though. Really appreciate your quick response and upload time with this! Absolutely no rush on getting it worked out. I'll dive in myself like you suggested if I have to!

Hello, the experience was unfortunately not very good for me.
The mod worked well to make quick backups. However I wanted to reload at my last inn and the game went back to 0 by deleting all my backups.

I followed the warning and copied my steam data before using the mod so I was able to recover my game before installing the mod so I lost only 4 hours instead of my 110h. * - *

Thank you for the work but I will settle for a return menu to save I prefer to lose 10s rather than 4h :p

      Bonjour,

got me wondering if the inn save on this mod resets your pawn quest if its been fullfilled already. ill test it later when im ready to reset it.
maybe other ppl werent thinking about this.
aslo, im guessing this is the same as some mod i had in DDDA. could save anywhere, like in the middle of a fight.

It's the saves you make when sleeping at an Inn, the ones you can load by choosing "Load from last Inn Rest".
