Thanks to everyone who has downloaded and tried DDCM. I hope some have found it useful and I appreciate those who have chosen to endorse it. Alas it has been a while since my adventuring days ended in the world of DD2, but I am committed to supporting this project for the time being. I don’t have any big plans for DDCM, so if there is any QoL improvements, bugs, or issues please let me know. I’d also like to hear about your experiences using DDCM or if you have any concerns about using this mod. All perspectives are welcome. Thanks!
Version 0.3.6 is now available. -(hot fix) Remove campaign should not delete campaigns without confirmation. -(new feature) Deleted campaigns are now moved into the recycle bin and can be recovered if needed.
I hope some of you are enjoying DDCM and finding it useful..I want to thank everyone who has downloaded and tried DDCM, provided feedback and/or reported a bug. Special thanks for the endorsements, and I hope DDCM continues to serve you well. I wrote this utility for my own benefit and enjoyment of DD2, and it has fulfilled that purpose for me. My plans for this project going forward are mostly addressing bugs and ensuring there is adequate test coverage of its existing features. If there is anything you think would add value to your experience with this mod, now is the time to speak up. Your feedback is appreciated!
Hello, I would like to ask you about the module execution issue I downloaded the module, unzipped it and executed ddcm.exe. A disclaimer screen appeared, but I couldn't close it and couldn't select the relevant archive through ddcm. Is there something wrong with my execution?
hi. I have the game of elamigos's website and this mod dont work. its did the posibility that you update the version for use the save data for any folder?
Appreciate the question, but currently this mod only supports the steam distribution. I don't plan to support additional distribution channels at this point.
Version 0.3.5 has been uploaded and is now available.
IMPORTANT NOTE FOR LAUNCHING DDCM FROM STEAM: -You will now need to specify the '--steam' option when configuring the command-line for DD2 launch options. (See readme.txt for further details).
UI updates: -Many of the buttons were replaced by icon-based buttons. -You should now use the "Add campaign" button to create campaigns. The "New campaign..." item has been removed from the dropdown.
Bug fixes: -DDCM should prompt you to create campaigns for save files it doesn't recognize. This should include your existing save game when you run DDCM for the first time. -DDCM should do a better job of recovering from lost or deleted settings files.
I'm having an issue. When I run the exe and pull up the settings menu, it's pointing to the folder containing my saves correctly. But when I hit apply, and then try to name the campaign of my original save file, it deletes the files from that folder, & creates the archive folder but leaves it empty. Is there a step that I'm missing?
I'm not 100% sure I understand the issue you are describing but let me explain what you should expect to see.
There are two folders to note: the DD2 folder contains the save files written by Dragon's Dogma 2. This folder will be in your Steam user data folder. The other folder is the DDCM archive folder, which is where DDCM will manage the save files for each of your campaigns. If DDCM detects that you have an existing save file in the DD2 save folder, but you don't have any campaigns yet, it should prompt you to create a campaign. When you create that campaign, the save files should move from the DD2 folder to the campaign folder. This will leave the DD2 folder empty, but those saves should be there. These files will be restored to the DD2 folder when you launch the campaign from DDCM, so don't be alarmed if you find that the DD2 folder is empty at this point. However, if you don't see your files in either the DD2 folder or the campaign folder, then that's definitely a bug worth fixing.
I hope this information is helpful. If you are experiencing a bug, please do let me know. If I can reproduce the problem on my end then I can fix it. Thanks!
Ahh sorry for the confusion and late reply. After trying it again just now. I name the first campaign, and then It looks like it's not restoring my save files to the DD2 folder. When I launch the game from DDCM my only option to play on the main menu is to ""Start game". I managed to get it working by manually putting my save files into the campaign folder. I can't figure out why it would delete my initial save though.
It sounds like the DD2 folder is empty after you create your first campaign, and that's fine. The concerning thing is whether or not your save files made it into the new campaign folder in the archive. It sounds like they didn't. If that's the case I'd be interested in seeing your log files if you don't mind sending them to me. If not, could you tell me anything that could be unique about your setup? (via PM) I'd be happy to take a look and see if I can get to the bottom of what happened in your case. It could be as trivial as the folder path to your archive or campaign causing issues with file operations.
Please check to make sure your save files are getting updated in the archive after you quit DD2 and return to DDCM. You should see the date/time your campaign was last saved. Take note of it to be sure.
Many times now. When Ive finished and closed out game. Ive noticed it does not update with the new save, and still retains the last save file from when I first started playing for that session.
Fortunate I make backups after every session. But I've had to copy and paste backup for my latest session everytime I start playing using DDCM.
DDCM monitors the DD2 process and should propagate your save to it's archive when it terminates (typically when you exit DD2). If you aren't seeing the files being propagated to the archive when you exit DD2, then either DDCM is not recognizing that the process terminated, there's an issue copying the files, or there is an error that is preventing the sync from taking place. I have not experienced many problems with this, but it could be a bug specific to your system or settings. You might be able to find some useful information in the DDCM log files. If you feel so inclined, feel free to file a bug. However, know that version 0.3.0 is about to drop soon, and hopefully you will see some big improvements in it's reliability on this front.
The new version has several new features and improvements including improved reliability for saving/loading campaigns, ability to configure default in-game settings for new campaigns, archive management utilities to better help you protect/backup/restore your campaign save files.
This will probably be the largest feature update for DDCM heading toward 1.0. Going forward the focus will be on improving existing features, fixing bugs, and improved testing/validation.
Ive accidentally set my origin save as a character save. I have my origin save backed up. How would I replace my origin save with the backup save file?
Exit DDCM, locate the save archive and copy/paste backup save files into whatever campaign folder you wish, then run DDCM again. DDCM will always try to reflect the state of the archive, so whatever manual changes you make there should be picked up. As always, it's a good idea to back things up in case something goes awry.
The next version will include a backup feature. DDCM originally had this feature implemented but I had to pull it out due to issues I was seeing with DD2 invalidating older saves. I think I have a better handle on that now. New version incoming soon.
Something weird is going on. I was just playing earlier on a particular character file. I rested at an inn, multiple times. I come back later in the day, and its loading my save from the first point I ever rested at an Inn. (the first encampment) I had rested at an Inn in Vernmoth, and several points in Rest Point Town.
I dont know why this happened. I have this character saved as a new campaign too. I beleive I backed up the save file before I left, and trying to load it up. but this is wierd this happened in the first place.
Edit: The backup worked. But its wierd this happened. Does DDCM have to close to update the save files? thats the only thing i can think of. I hadnt closed it once I was finished between sessions.
That sounds odd. You may want to check to make sure your save files are being pushed into the archive when you exit DD2. If that's not happening there is likely a bug. Also make sure that cloud saves are disabled in Steam as this could introduce some unexpected behavior.
Whenever you quit DD2, check to make sure the campaign you just played shows recent modification dates. If you see older files than you would expect in there, check to see if your steam save folder has your latest save files and copy them to the archive manually if you have to. It's worth being vigilant until DDCM is more proven.
>Edit: The backup worked. But its wierd this happened. >Does DDCM have to close to update the save files? thats the only thing i can think of. I hadnt closed it once I was finished between >sessions.
No DDCM should push the save into the archive after DD2 closes. If it's not behaving that way it is likely a bug. The new version (0.3.1) is now available, let me now if you experience any other issues like this. Thanks!
Make sure that both paths exist. DDCM should locate your DD2 Save Folder. If that isn’t set it would mean that it can’t find a DD2 user settings file in your steam directory. This could happen if you haven’t run DD2 on your system yet. If you run DD2, setup your config options, save and exit, then run DDCM, it should resolve the path for you. If you have to set it manually, you can locate your DD2 save folder using the file browser. You’ll need to point it to where the save files are actually written (I.e.-<YourSteamInstallFolder>/userdata/<YourSteamUserId>/254970/remote/win64_save). You may also need to double check the path to the archive folder. If DDCM isn’t creating that folder for you it could be a bug. But you should be able to point this at any folder you desire. Hope that helps! Let me know if you need any further assistance.
Nice! Already using a save manager but having it as a launcher with a nice UI design is certainly better. Just curious, since I have a bunch of mods, if I launch the game from your launcher instead of fluffy, will the mods still be applied? Also, can your launcher be used to bypass Steam's forced updates as they could/will break mods?
Can't speak to your second question but as to your first: You don't need to launch the game directly from Fluffy for your mods to take effect. Once they're enabled you're free to close Fluffy and launch the game through Steam or a shortcut.
I've never used Fluffy myself so I don't know if DDCM will cause any problems for you. It depends on how these different mods are integrated. In the case of DDCM, it's designed to be a launch portal for DD2 that provides the option to add/change campaigns on a per-game-session basis. It doesn't provide a way to modify/extend/redirect it's own launch capability at the present, so if you have other mods that need to inject themselves into the launch sequence, DDCM might not be compatible (for now).
