It doesn't sound like you can do this, but just wondering if this has the ability to REDUCE the amount of autosaves the game performs. Every time my game saves it causes a noticeable time lag of a couple seconds and it's getting really obnoxious.
If this mod doesn't cover that, have you looked into the game's save mechanics enough to know if it's a simple lua code fix I can write a script for?
Running into trouble when trying to make a new character. I follow the instructions, but I still seem to be on the old character. Am I supposed to simply overwrite it by starting a New Game? To clarify, which path should be entered in the 'Save Location' field when trying to create a new save? The same as the old save or something else?
Yeah, that's the last step in the instructions - just open the game a start a new game. Whichever character you have marked as active in Scum Bag will watch the save file and make backups, while the other characters entries stay the same.
Then, if you want to go back the first character, just activate the other character and restore the latest save. Then just load your save in game and you'll be back on the first character.
You probably want to do most of this with the game closed, but I've had no issues restoring saves when I'm on the main menu.
I am having trouble with Scum Bag actually saving specific backups as being favorited, and that I have given a tag name. They are saved for that session, but after I close it, and come back next day for example, the favorite is unstarred, and the tag/name I had set was gone. I have reconfirmed I have it installed correctly, and its working mostly correctly except for this particular issue. It is just not saving certain backups being favorited and given a tag/name.
Strange, I haven't come across any issues like that so far in my testing. What version are you on? I just released v1.1.0 today, so maybe try that version and see if it fixes your issue.
I just made a bug report under your BUGS tab, because it just deleted my favorited saves and I had to restore them from my nightly Veeam for Microsoft Windows backups. Please see the bug report under BUGS for details. The title of the bug report says 1.03 but thats a typo I am using version 1.1.0 that you released yesterday.
Thanks for reporting the bug and providing steps to reproduce the issue, it was a huge help in finding the source of the issue. This should be fixed as of v1.1.1
Thank you very much for this mod, and the update! I use it for mostly backups and not for multiple saves, but knowing this is available is nice :) I wanted to ask, could you tell me the proper way of updating? I somehow muddled my way through and managed it, but I am not sure I did it correctly: I downloaded the update, placed it in a folder then extracted it (I date all downloaded mods, so I can keep track of how "old" they are within my files). I then opened the old version and the new version. The new version got the directory correct, and I then closed the old one, deleted all the extracted files of the old one, and kept the new version. Was that correct? Everything seems to work, though.
Thank you again for this save manager, and I hope you still have fun in DD2, or whatever you play now :)
Yeah if you want to update and keep things in one folder, just replace all the files with the newly downloaded ones. If you want things to be super simple, you can grab the single exe version from the github page (Scum_Bag_win-x64.exe.zip)
First of all, thank you so much for this very cool, sleek, and awesome save manager. I've been using it for a little while now, and it's my favorite manager so far. However, I do have a request, if I may. Would it be possible to auto-start the game when we opening the manager? Maybe like a toggle to automatically start the game of the active auto backed-up game? Or perhaps even a button to start the game of the current auto backup? I ask because I used another save backup that was a script that literally started the game just by activating the script. But the tradeoff was the script only backed-up the save when opening and closing the game. So, it was far more limited than yours, but better than no backup at all for sure.
Anyway, whether you can't or just don't want to, I appreciate your hard work and mod regardless, thanks again!
Yeah I can look into adding an auto-launch feature or maybe just a manual launch game button. Steam provides a way to do that, so it should be possible to add in
Sorry but running into a bit of a problem starting it. Im on windows 11 and when trying to open the .exe, it says i need to, "install or update .NET" Which is fine, but after installing it, it still says i need to install or update. So I go back and repair the install, but it still doesnt work. I have everything else installed and updated. This is also on the newest version of the mod. Any ideas?
This is a standalone application, so you can launch the game using any launcher you want - as long as you have Scum Bag running in the background, it will continue to listen for changes to the save file and make periodic backups.
