For those still playing, I used this mod for quite some time, but the pawns dying when near cliffs or the brine has finally gone too far in BBI where there are a lot of these places. it was only tolerable in Gransys with the odd cliff/chest in soulflayer canyon where the pawn would jump to their death. I opened the file with arctool but I couldn't tell which of the modification were for the pc and which for the pawns, my goal being that only the pc would have the modified values.
So finally I used dinput8 to modify the jump params, which only modify the pc jump and I copied the values from this mod because I do like them, they feel natural. Here are the values :
I tried it, as a result it turned out to combine 2 mods into one: this one and No Carry Limit AND_OR Sprint Stamina adjustments. But I had to think a little and dig around, since the description of adding this mod to my game_main.arc is a little unclear and incomplete. Thank you for specifying which specific file needs to be changed.
UPDATE ***DO NOT USE THE GUI TOOL I SHOW BELOW. IT HAS MALWARE!!!***
"Arc Extractor and Repacker and Image Viewer by FluffyQuack and chrisco"
I just discovered it this morning when I got up and on my computer, my browser started periodically redirecting me to ads and ominous messages of legal ramifications.
Checked all of the files I downloaded for this jump mod using Virus Total website. That gui tool was the only one detected with malware, and it got only one hit. So, clearly that programmer was testing his malware up against the engines on the website. So, if you want to verify it has malware, simply use a computer you don't mind if it gets infected and isn't connected to your home network, yeah like mine is now.
Sigh, this is so annoying. Can't people use their skills for something productive? If I could program malware like that, I'd be making lots of money on an app or something, not trying to infect random innocent people with a virus to steal their money.
Now I have to spend ridiculous amounts of time backing up, wiping, and reinstalling because I have no backup image, nor did I even enable system restore. And Windows Defender certainly isn't detecting anything.
It was a nice tool too. It worked great, no errors, unpacked and repacked the arc file without a problem. But the jerk who created it decided to put adware and who knows what else. There could be spyware too. Clearly keeps his program and malware up to date too. I'm using the latest Windows 10, and his malware infected me like a charm.
** Back to the original message: I got it working simply by replacing the paramjump file mentioned in the instructions. Arc files are like zip files. It's a file that contains a bunch of other files.
I used the GUI tool extractor tool here: (I removed the link) "Arc Extractor and Repacker and Image Viewer by FluffyQuack and chrisco"
I used it because it because I couldn't get the command line tool to work according to the instructions provided for this mod.
So, I extracted both arc files, the one from this mod and the one in my steamapps\common game folder. Of course you need to use a copy of the one in the game folder because you don't want to ruin your original arc file by accident.
When you extract both arc files, the one given in this mod and the one copied from your game folder, you can find the PlJumpParam file mentioned in the instructions. The extension will be a number if you use this gui extractor tool and choose the "extract all arc" button. For me, it was "PlJumpParam.12688D38"
You simply copy the PlJumpParam file from the mod's game_main.arc extraction and replace it in the game_main.arc extraction that you copied from your steamapps game folder. Then you tell the GUI to repack the file.
Then that copied arc file should now contain the new PlJumpParam file from the mod.
Then if you haven't already, you change the name of the original game_main.arc file that is in the steamapps game folder so that it isn't overwritten. Then you simply place that copied game_main.arc file that now contains the mod's PlJumpParam file into the game folder. Of course you then change the name of that copied arc file to the original name, game_main.arc, so that the game will use it and the modded PlJumpParam file it contains.
This worked for me so far, so maybe it will work for you too.
Thanks for making this mod. I'm with what's his name down further. I would also like to make the jump 2x rather than just 1.6x I am going to try to play this game largely solo, so having companions jump to their deaths is fine for me. If I ever find it's not, I can always simply rename my game_main.arc files to use the original without the increased jump, and then rename them again once I'm finished with whatever it is.
Late response from a future user, but if you see this, thank you. Hopefully other people check the comments too. Virustotal + others came back with adware from the one up on nexus (by lukasz or something), which may have been an unauthorized upload of the original? Someone in those comments said the same results and recommended downloading the original extractor from fluffyquack
Hi @SnowyOmen. Your mod is very useful but I don't think I can use it. It replaces a file that other mods use. Any advice on that? I'm bad at modding and english.
Don't know if it's just me, but my pawns keep suiciding whenever there is a waist-high obstacle and water near each other. It is kinda bothersome, since I like this modification.
It happens very rare only on high places like caves where huge HARPY is.
It is possible lack of count lending by pawns. It works well for main character but pawns suicide or jump 3% of times during gameplay if u r lucky u will have none bugs.
I got only 4 suicide in that area prior HARPY fight. But other than that they only fell once from mountain fighting vs cyclops.

Its 1 of most beautiful and oldest .
Just read description before u report bugs.
U CANT USE 2 DIFFERENT MODS WITH THIS FOR GOD SAKE. U NEED TO MERGE FILES WITH 1 MOD !!

OTHER THAN THAT RARE OCCASION , THIS MOD IS 1 OF THE BEST !!
