Copy game_main.arc file from the game directory.
      Paste into ARCtool folder.
      Drag game_main.arc file onto pc-dd.bat

I know how to use this now: extract your .arc files from mod rar/zip files into the arctools floder, then drag it to bat files.

So I've finally figured out how to make the thing work to mod maps and whatnot, now I have a new question for anyone. Does anyone know how to mod enemy data? (attack/defense/burnable wings/etc)

Like many other people the bat file does not work at all. unable to use the program, I followed every direction even saw a YT video, to make sure, but the bat file does nothing when I try to drag and drop to run. I see that another user used a command file to make it run , can some one please explain how to do so? this seems like a useful tool, but so little instructions on how to use

You'll look to be getting a bat file from the ARCtool-PC-batch download, which should have a bunch of bat files. After that drag that to the ARCtools directory so you have both Arctool and the bat in the same folder, than drag arc files into the bat. If that doesn't work, just watch the youtube guide again I guess.

Using this tool, I have a few things down pat for extracting now, figured out formatting to avoid turning the files into .7e0012lk1whatever files, but extracting and modding stages via the LOT files, I'm having difficulty compressing the stxxx.spn file, which causes the game to crash when I try to run the modded map, which says I cannot access the camera. I've tried on two different stages so far, and on both st600.spn and st320.spn don't seem to want to compress once I've uncompressed them. Forcing them to compress via -alwayscomp does not help the issue either.

Does anyone have any experience modding stages and know how to fix that issue? Everything else compresses except for the .spn file, which instead lists as copied.

Edit: Nevermind, figured it out. Just gotta use the Batch version. The answer is on the youtube guide. (insert facepalm here)

This all seems really great, but I'm confused by one thing: Does this convert .DDS back to .TEX? I've tried dropping my edited .DDS files (properly saved, with the proper DXT1 or DTX5 compression, and all that), and nothing happens. Is there something I'm missing here?

Yeah, it supports that. If I recall, the old TEX file you're replacing needs to be in the same directory as it uses it as template.

Oh, that makes sense! I did some testing, and it's not just the TEX that's necessary, the TXT needs to be in there, too. Thanks, FluffyQuack! This is an amazing tool! I only wish that it opened even more file formats, like RTEX, ARCS, and MFX.

    Hi,
Your tools convert dds to tex or it just add original preserved tex header to dds\raw?
How about converting new dds with new size to re6 tex?

This is a very late reply, but if I recall, the TEX conversion works by copying over the TEX header and updating parts of it and then replacing the image data.

I'm pretty sure you always need a TEX header to use as "base" when converting DDS->TEX.

The latest version is always available from this link: https://fluffyquack.com/tools/ARCtool.rar

That said, it's extremely rare I work on this tool anymore. I've pretty much retired from MT Framework modding.
