Just want to say THANK YOU, i was scared but followed instructions to use arctool to merge this with Reduced Stat Bloat (also use No Menu Healing), and voila, works like a charm! This was the final piece to turning my ddda truly hardcore. Thank God for geniuses like you for finding ways to mod difficult-to-mod games... You're awesome, ENDORSED.

Hey man, If you haven't tried it yet, I suggest pairing this with 'World Difficulty', which has just been brought back to nexus and is a complete overhaul of enemy encounters! Even better, it works just fine with this mod.

I suggest pairing this with 'World Difficulty', which has just been brought back to nexus and is a complete overhaul of enemy encounters! Even better, it works just fine with this mod, and it's 'far' easier to do that than using the arc tool to merge the exp gain mod designed to be used with it.

Hey Vagrant0, hope you're doing well.

Thank you so much for this mod. The Plateau experience on hard mode gave me joy and I was very content with it, I eventually removed it after Grigori but was fun to do all side quests and finish at 60 instead of feeling overpowered at 200. Recommended to a few friends and it's revived Dragon's Dogma in my friend circle and more. Hype for DD2!

I wanted to ask, what do you need to do to edit your mod? I'm also part of a challenge run community who are looking into doing level 1 or even level 10 runs (other vocations). So I'm wondering how do I make the jump from level 1 to 2, or 10 to 11, say, 999,999,999 million or the highest possible number without breaking anything?

Sorry for being late getting back to you. The table was done by extracting the arc files with ARCtool:
      https://residentevilmodding.boards.net/thread/481/arc-unpacker-repacker-v0-428

Finding the table that handles exp (I included just the table file in the mod iirc), opening it in a text editor, and changing the exp values. Saving the changes. Then repacking it. Wish I could remember more, but it's been a few years. But fortunately past me wrote out a txt file explaining the process (included with the mod).

Just be mindful that the way the game handles damage puts a fairly high dependence on not only having upgraded equipment, but the first dozen or so levels of gains. Equipment also depends on level in some cases, so using too steep of a leveling table can lead to simply being unable to deal damage to basic enemies. Normally this would not be a problem as you ding level 20-30 by the time you get to Gran Soren unless you sprint there, but lots of stuff can't be used properly below level 21.

This is a good idea. I've been using Plateau, am now level 33, but I like exploring and so have lots of skill points. Both the Arisen and the pawns feel completely overpowered in the main game. It should not be easy to kill a chimera with just your main pawn for company at level 33, but it is. Perhaps this mod should be combined with Reduced Stats Bloat (https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma/mods/519) type of thing.

+1 to combine with reduced stat bloat, did anyone ever make a patch to combine?

Great mod, thanks. Using "Slight" for the near double required exp and it feels good. Without it, not even halfway through the main quests and doing side-quests the Character is already basically a God and just pummels nearly everything in the game. This allows exploration, questing and such without becoming a God so early in the game.

The instructions were fine as well. I merged the main file I had already Arc'd from the "Great mod compilation. No game-breaking" Mod with this mod and it turned out perfectly.

Ah, man. Wish I had found this mod before. Leaving this game forgotten, although it being very good, was because I turned into a god way too early. The combats had no difficulty at all, even on hard, and what kind of joke is that to make the player get the double XP and gold? I want to make the game harder and not to get more free stuff making it easy again. And so I left the game alone for more than one year and got back now. I had my fun, still, the game feels too easy...

Now, I've found this and read this comment. It gave me hope. I will try this at home after work today. Hope it goes well.

Just wanted to say for the maker, and anyone looking at trying this mod later:

I played my first playthrough on the "steep" version and I thought it was fantastic. Post-Grigori, the isle is giving me some troublesome moments on specific boss fights, so I'm considering stepping it down to slight. It's either that or cheese some bossfights with gratuitous use of items. But the main part is freaking perfect.

Edit: Actually, one more conqueror's precept (2 total) and a bottle of vim made all the difference. Game on!

Is the xml file what we need just to edit a specific bit in the final .arc file for mod merging? If not, could you include the specific loose files so that this mod can be merged safely please?

The included .xml files are the only changed bit from whatever .arc you are probably using. The readme file included describes some of the steps that can be used to; take your current .arc file, export all the .xml files contained as they are from your other mods, convert them to a readable format, allow you to edit them (or replace with the tables provided), then pack them back up in a .arc file. It's all there in the readme.

This is the method I followed, which worked for me, even with a previously modded .arc file, and have no idea how it could possibly be more user friendly given the substantial lack of information out there. If this is not good enough for you, I do not know what to say. It is assumed that if you are editing the table for your own uses that you already have some familiarity with the tools and file formats being used.

If setting up your own table however I would suggest keeping the rate such that you are not crossing the 1m exp threshold. This is because when your pawn is rented from someone else it can lead to that pawn ending up several levels higher than what is in the rift (see bug reports).

Yeah, this mod's installation is pretty poorly worded and the mod is so poorly packaged that I can't believe the author considered releasing it in this stat (so much unneeded waste of pointless files and folders). I don't recommend using the manual archive packer/repacker from fluffy quack. It was good when that was all we needed but there's better. Just use the Arc Extractor and Repacker and Image Viewer ( http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonsdogma/mods/25/? ). It doesn't require any of these extra steps and does the job perfectly.

You also don't run the risk of overwriting your already installed mods if you know where to look in the mod's own game_main.arc's. Just copy and past all the files in the desired level curve folder from it's game_main.arc and make sure they are from .......\game_main\param\pl\level. Everything in there is all you need. Just copy and past it over into your active game's unpacked game_main.arc and repack it with the better tool.

There really wasn't much information out there for packing mods, so I did with that I could find. There's a lack of documentation all around. If I knew what people wanted and what was easiest to use, I would have done that.

I have the tool you linked, but the tool is for image files, not xml files. It is just a GUI for Fluffyquack's Arctool. If it handles .xml files, it is not documented or indicated anywhere. As Arctool needs the command line modifier to even extract/repack .xml files, I didn't care to experiment and screw something up in the process or use a method that would be more confusing. Instead I described the method that I personally used and knew to be working. The method you describe is not much different from the method I stated, just using a GUI interface instead of editing a .bat file.

If you have specific instructions, you are welcome to share. If you have suggestions as to how I can re-package this for easier use, you are also welcome to share.

I want to merge the "Slight" version (sta+carry+exp) with other mods. You said its only one file, but I found exp.plexp and exp.plexp.xml files. The .xml needed to merge too? AND... is that mean the other mod files are not included from (sta+carry)? Can I only found in the modded .arc file? (I'm not so good in english and modding this game, for now! )

Thank you for this mod. I cannot express how vital mods like these are for improving the progression of the game, especially in the wake of Dark Arisen. My gratitude extends also to the reality that the game becomes trivial very quickly after you drudge even slightly through the Everfall in Vanilla; and even further, that Dark Arisen also acts as a means of trivializing the main game and itself with the speed of leveling and acquisition of gear.

I check this Nexus periodically in the hopes that a new modification that affects gameplay trickles down the line. I understand people want their visual adjustments, but a gem like this truly shines when surrounded by scantily clad mods. I'm still silently holding vigil for when the ultimate modification arises that allows enemies to progress with the player. Despite the perceived impossibility of such a modification I have faith that some kind soul will undergo the labor. So any time a mod like this one drops I feel that little gleam in my eye that says "Yes! One step closer to a perfected DDDA!"
