It isn't supposed to, since I've made the red variant after releasing the original mod, but I think I have an idea of what's happening. DD model modding has a kink that I'm pretty sure all model swap mods share, due to the way it's done. Basically,  if you have both the modded item and the item it's based on in your inventory, or two modded items that share a model, the textures and model may not apply properly. You can't really fix it, but you can circumvent it by first storing away the items in question or giving them to your pawns(basically they shouldn't be in your personal inventory). Then you exit the inventory screen to "reset" things, followed by going into wherever you've put the items and taking the specific item you want to wear. Done right, the item should display the correct model and textures. After that, as long as you don't unequip the item, it should be working as intended.

Sorry if it's a bit confusing, and I hope it helps!

EDIT for future reference: It could also potentially be caused by having pawns of the same gender wear one of the armor variants. In which case the solution would be to unequip the armor from both yourself and pawns, exit the inventory screen and then equip back the one with the appearance you want to see when playing, first. It's rather finnicky and convoluted, but if there's a solution to this, I do not know it.

    Hey Chief,

I greatly appreciate the mod. Looking into the files and doing a bit of experimenting, I noticed that outright removing textures is how you would "de-horn" gear, like the chimeric helmet or the Immortal helmet. For reference, this is the texture for your Sin variation. This is the Immortal helmet using your Sin color variation, and here we can see what the difference looks like in-game. The only file I touched was the NUKI texture, no meshes or models were touched. I've never seen this kind of behavior before so I was absolutely dumbfounded when I had a "hunch" on how this may work. I saw a comment asking about removing horns earlier so I figured I'd leave this here for you and anyone else that is looking to adjust gear in such a way.

Thanks again for the mod! It's fantastic.

Hey, thanks for teaching me something today! Somehow I didn't expect it to be this simple, lol. Guess I was overthinking it. I'll sticky your comment for anyone who stumbles upon this in the future.

      And you're welcome!

Haha, I appreaciate it! Was never much of a fan of the vanilla Bitterblack sets, either(except Immortal's, that one is sick).

      Have fun with the mod!

Absolutely LOVE this mod! Just curious though, is there a way for you to make an alternative helmet to this set? I was trying to find mods that replaced the Chimeric Armet texture to be a bit darker so it could match with this set but couldn't find anything. Like preferably the hornless Chimeric Armet with hints of red or similarly textured for the Sin set would look great.

I wouldn't have the slightest clue as to how to de-horn the helmet, since I only know enough about DD modding to do basic model swaps and retextures.

I did find this mod, which seems like something that might fit what you want. There's also this, but it's brighter. With ARCtool and a program that can open and edit DDS texture files like paint.net or GIMP with a DDS plugin, you could easily modify textures from those mods to your liking, as long as you keep them for personal use and don't post them without the mod authors' permission, of course.
While swapping models and textures is a little more involved, editing textures of an already existing mod is as simple as drag-and-dropping the .arc file onto pc-dd file, making your changes, and then doing the same drag-and-drop dance to pc-dd with the folder that pc-dd created the first time.

I might make additions to the mod at some point in the future, but for now I'd rather leave it to rest, since I've basically done all I wanted with it.

Thanks for the advice on the texture file modifying! I've been able to edit some textures to get them darker but I couldn't do any model swaps with the Chimeric Helm and Sin/Hellfire helmets but the texture modifying worked really well.

Glad the texture modifying worked out! Since you already know how to do that, I'd like to recommend this video that teaches you how to swap models for Dragon's Dogma. Out of all the guides for ARCtool I've seen I thought this one to be the most easy to understand. With this, you'll basically be able to make your own model swaps for whatever gear you want in the game(for finding which files gear pieces in the game are attached to, refer to this sheet).

One word of caution though is that if for some reason you need to change the DDS file type to jpg or png(shouldn't be necessary, but I had done so while I still didn't really understand what I was doing) and then back to DDS again, make sure to set the DDS format to DXT1 and click the checkmark to Generate Mipmaps, or else you'll see some real funny textures in-game. :p

      Happy modding!

Looking good, if I could make a small suggestion though, is it possible to add some hints of red to the hellfire set? It would be nice to have some difference between the two, like the eyes of the helmet or the cross in the chest piece... But I'm no fashion designer so I don't really know where the red would be nice.

EDIT: Nevermind I just saw that the work this is based from does exactly that, so I can just use yours and Rizky mods to achieve perfection.
    Thank you!

You're welcome, and yeah, be sure to use Rizky's mod for a more Bitterblack appropriate look, I really made this one for personal use more than anything, since I wanted something more subdued and not obviously evil, lol.

Anyway, have fun with the mods!

Hey, in case you're still interested, I figured I might as well do a little extra work and made a Hellfire variant with red highlights as an optional file, to be a little more in spirit of it, I guess.

It's gorgeous! Thank you for the Hellfire variant.

EDIT: If I may add one small suggestion
Since you have the "Download with Manager" button enabled, it would be best to remove the backup folder from the package. I don't know how Vortex decides which folder to install, but by default it seems to be picking up the backup folder instead so we end up with the vanilla armor; might be better to push the backup files as a miscellaneous download.

Glad it turned out well, have a good one!
Edit: Tbh I'm not really sure how Vortex works, and I'd rather keep both the backup and the Sin and Hellfire variants separated so that people can pick and choose. Might be for the best to just remove the Manager option.

It's totally cool, I do appreciate the advice. I might take a crack at it at some point, but I figure I'll leave it as is for now.

And you're welcome, if someone else ends up liking this armor, I wager that's mission accomplished, lol.
