Hello, how do you change the appearance of armor like this? I would like to learn to make my own modifications

it will take quite long to explain, you can find tutorials here in nexusmods or Youtube.

Hi, stupid question, but I haven't yet used any armor or clothing mods for DDDA, so I was wondering do these mods (including yours) visually replace existing armour, or do they actually add entirely new ones? by that I mean if I downloaded your mod and placed it in the corresponding folders, would it replace armour already in the game or add these items to my inventory? If they do replace armour or clothing in the game, if say I had more than one item of the same kind this replaces, would it replace the appearance for all?

I've used mods for other games but I usually stayed away from mods that replace existing stuff unless I really disliked the default appearance. Mods that add new items instead of replacing any already there also had the advantage of not conflicting with others mods of the same type. Not sure but it seems like armour/clothing/weapon mods for DDDA are replacers which sucks if true because you just couldn't have them all.

most of the gears mods of dragon's dogma (including mine) they do Replace existing gears, so be sure to backup the original files in case you want to use them later on.
rare mods that add new items to the game, be sure to read the description well before using any mod.
feel free to ask me about my mods if you encounter any problem.

would it be possible to make the set for a male character? Like same appearance as the female version you made, but that can be used on males. Of course, the hood is female only, though im not to worried about that. i'm mostly just hoping for the other parts. Thanks in advance!

Ok, so i've actually managed to do it myself. Only running into one issue: there is a slight seam line between the shirt and the pants and the corset is slightly elevated off the torso, so you can see the inconsistency from particular angles, an issue that is naturally solved by the fact that female characters have breasts. everything else works just fine though.

All this being said though, i just texture swapped between the male and female textures, so the issue with the male shirt texture might need to be fixed from the ground up. will try doing a full manual swap, and report back, but that's where im at for now.

      So in short
      pants work,
      boots work,
      gloves work,
      cloak works,
      Skull belts work,
hood WIP due to sultry cowl being female exclusive,
Shirt has seam lines around top and bottom of corset, most notably causing a thin empty space around the waist.

the belts do do a good job of hiding the seam, I've noticed, but even so, worth noting.

So i don't know for sure, but i think the solution might be to put the corset and the bandages onto the same texture layer as from a direct forwards or rear view, the seams are invisible, though become visible when the camera is tilted down. That being said, I'm not entirely sure how to go about doing that as i have little experiencewith actually creating textures.

When i have the time, I'll attempt to recreate your texture on a shirt that only has one torso layer, if i can find one.

the seam line you mentioned, i can not fix it, of course you are welcome to try, but i think it is an issue in the game itself.
but i am sure their is no invisible line in the top of the brown corset. can you take a screenshot for it.
also i made "Black Hood" mod for male only.

there's no invisible seam line at the top, i meant that since the corset is slightly elevated off the body, it results in a visible space between the corset and shirt, due to male characters lacking breasts. it's a minor thing and can only be seen from certain angles though. sorry if i worded it weird.

otherwise, as far as the waist seam line goes, like i said, the belt covers it, so it's not terrible.

Anyways, if you'd like, i can send over the files from the male variant of the female armor, since it is your design after all and i'd rather not post it on my mod page.

Oh, i just recalled i had a question. How do you go about putting the parts of on texture into another's file? For example, you have parts of the trophy gloves in the champion bangles file

it is easy once you get used to it, let's say you have gloves A & want to replace it with gloves B,

1- extract the gloves B files using ARCtool [you will find it here in Nexusmods]
2- extract the gloves A files
3- put the folder that contains all the B textures [NUKI, NM_HQ, CMM] & the files ending with 56 & A8 beside the original A folder
      like f_arm_600_a & f_arm_600_b
4- replace the two files [56,A8] of A's with B's & rename them with A's names
5- copy the lines that contains [NUKI, NM_HQ, CMM] from the text file of B [f_arm_600_b.arc.txt]
6- overwrite the A's same lines with B's
7- repack the textures & put them in the game files

NOTE : Always backup the original files.
I hope i make it simple.

Which tool in ARCTool are you using? I've done a lot of texture work, but i've never seen the 56 or A8 files that you're talking about. that being said though, i mostly use tex-conversion since i like to work on textures a lot, rather than just swap them. That being said, i've done the renaming process and replacement and all, but it just deletes the "inccorect" files when i try to repack it.

To specify though, im talking about how, in your files for the gloves, you have a part of the trophy gloves texture inserted into the champion's bangles file, but it's retaining the original trophy gloves file name:

      f_a_arm2306 > model > pl > f > f_arm_a > f_arm_a203_c
                                                                         > f_arm_a701

if i try to structure a folder like that, while making sure that the contents of both f_arm_a*** are built the same way as what you've done, it will erase the folder that doesn't match. so for me, "f_arm_a701" would get erased from the folder contents if i tried to build that folder myself and repack it.

i replace the whole Champion's Bangles with Trophy Gloves & removed some of the trophy parts, that is all.
You do not structure a folder, you just have to copy it & past it as a said.
the ARCtool is one program for unpack & repack arc files of the game, if you have any other program to do so, so be it.
do not forget to copy the lines in the text file that i mentioned before.
      like ,
      model\pl\f\f_arm_a\f_arm_a600_a\f_arm_a600_a_NM_HQ.241F5DEB
      model\pl\f\f_arm_a\f_arm_a600_a\f_arm_a600_a_NUKI.241F5DEB
      model\pl\f\f_arm_a\f_arm_a600_a\f_arm_a600_a_CMM.241F5DEB

can you take screenshot of the files you found. there must be a file ending with ***.58A15856

Hello, I would like to know how to edit armor parts like you and other modders do? I really wanted to learn how to make my own changes to some armor and even weapons that have a look that I don't like.

I myself can't change the shape of the weapons, only recolor it or swap models, but it is easy to change the armors. all you have to do is use the ARC tool to extract the texture files and repack it once you finish. you can use any program  you want to edit the files, but i myself use Paint.net.
you will find the ARC tool & tutorials here in Nexusmods.
      good luck.
