Hi there! I'm Komodo (or Lloyd if you prefer). I'm a modder and twitter personality that's been helping develop the Dragon Quest modding community for just under 4 years now, mostly behind the scenes ;)

What is Yggdrasil?
-So I run a discord server called Yggdrasil with mike9k1 and others. That's currently the best place to learn about modding and engage with the community so I highly recommend you join us! Even as a regular user, you could see what myself and other modders are working on before it gets posted! It's not made specifically with XI in mind, we have small sub-communities for other games in the franchise and we will add more if users have projects to share. Aside from that it's a great place to hang out and talk about Dragon Quest and other video games if you are so inclined.

Your mods are formatted differently than others. How do I install your mods?
- For DE, there are now 2 install methods. One is to create a pak file in the game's pak directory. This is great for users as they can be renamed to create a custom load order and cannot physically overwrite each other - if you have 2 mods that affect the same character and you remove the one at the bottom the one on the top will load instead. The other method, requires DQXIS-SDK, which is capable of loading loose files. This doesn't really seem to work well with remodels, but it has its advantages as specific parts can be altered or removed without needing a separate pak file - for example, you can remove the hair and face textures from a reskin mod if you only want the clothes to be affected. I will always try to include both versions wherever applicable.

Do all of your DE mods require Project Rebuild?
- Firstly, I recommend dropping reading this and downloading that mod ASAP. It replaces the Switch version model assets found in DE with edited versions of the models from the OG version. These are roughly 3x the detail as the vanilla models, and fortunately/unfortunately (depending on your standpoint) they use the same UV maps (think of it as a texture template - the data of which part of the texture goes where) as the original game. That means the vast majority of my old mods and others can be easily ported to DE this way. Without Project Rebuild, we would have to remake the textures from scratch, more or less. As for new mods, my personal preference would be to always use the highest quality models available so I will generally stick to PR for character mods... but I could be persuaded to make vanilla versions if enough people requested them.
In conclusion, ]yes... usually. If a mod does or doesn't require PR, I will let you know!

What do these names mean? "Alabast", "Obsidian", "Citrine"
- This is just clever colour-coding. It's a way for me to categorise my mods but also a way to make the mod page itself stand out. No one's gonna remember a mod named Red Outfit for Serena, but "Serena - Ruby Raiment" is more memorable and more searchable. As a general guide, if you don't know anything about minerals and their colours, just google the word or look through the captions on the images of the mod page and all should be clear.

Alabast - White
Obsidian - Black
Ruby - Red
Emerald - Green
Sapphire - Blue
etc.

How do even you take screenshots like THAT?
- So if you have an NVIDIA GTX/RTX card with up-to-date drivers, pressing ALT+F2 in-game should bring up a new menu called Photo Mode or Ansel. This is a PC exclusive feature of a lot of supported games that doesn't get enough credit. It gives you a somewhat limited freecam, the ability to render or upscale screenshots to ridiculously high resolutions, and add camera filters and effects. I try to keep my screenshots simple but there's a lot more you can do with this tool than what I've shown. I use this in addition to the game's built-in photo mode for poses, and a range of console commands to achieve screenshots that really shouldn't be possible in the game. Also, there's a cheat table in my tools page that lets you use this feature in restricted scenes and pep powers :)

Do you take requests?
- I'm happy to hear your ideas if you want to leave me a message on discord but I can't make promises. If I like an idea I'll do it!
However, I am not open to taking requests for unique personal mods. You might have seen some that I've made out there, but they were made for my friends and its up to them what they want to do with it, I hope you understand :)
