This mod recreates the styling of the classic Dragon Quest games, makes many UI elements darker, message boxes / menus opaque and easier to read, font changes (2D Mode), etc.

Originally part of the DW11 Throwback Mod Pack, the Retro UI package has been forked and ported to Definitive Edition as a standalone mod.
Included is a (zipped) .pak file -- copy this file into <steamapps>\common\DRAGON QUEST XI S\Game\Content\Paks
(where <steamapps> is typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\ depending on your installation )
Yes, installation is (now) that simple -- thanks to spiritovod's incredible work reverse-engineering the pak format
As a small note: as we now have cooking working, native texture mods are coming!
