This is a mod that will not appeal to most modern players. But, it is a request i've heard every so often from older RPG players who grew up with games on the NES/GBC/etc.
This mod captures the nostalgic experience of random battle encounters while remaining true to the game's balance. The encounter rate is relaxed so you can explore without worries.
If you want a more engaging experience while keeping on-field encounters: I strongly recommend Better Monsters AI

Installation Instructions:
Copy the .pak file into <steamapps>\common\DRAGON QUEST XI S\Game\Content\Paks
(where <steamapps> is typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\ depending on your installation )
