This mod restores the OG version's environmental assets into the Definitive version. This is also fully compatible with the 4k Textures Pack- making the overall quality of the combined assets even higher than that of the original release.

Assets added so far (listed by internal designation / directory)

0.0.1: Statues and pillars

0.0.2: Countryside and In-Game props

0.0.3: Lights (torches, lanterns, lamps, candles, etc.)

0.0.4 & 0.0.5: Additional pillars // signboards // small fixes

0.0.6 & 0.0.7: Sea / Sky view elements

0.0.8 - 0.1.4: Small fixes and adjustments

Installation instructions

Copy the .pak file into <steamapps>\common\DRAGON QUEST XI S\Game\Content\Paks

(where <steamapps> is typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\ depending on your installation )

Things to look out for / ongoing work:

-Collision: When adding the assets back in, the collision has to be re-done. This generally isn't too bad or time-consuming, but it's always possible for me to miss things when testing. (Most of the time this is done with convex collision generation, but sometimes box-collision is generated instead when importing, or sometimes completely missing)

If you happen to find yourself (1) suddenly able to walk through objects you shouldn't be able to (missing collision) or (2) not able to walk somewhere you're normally able to (collision bounds are too far / box-collision), please feel free to report this.

-Lightmap UVs: A few objects will sometimes appear with odd shading. My understanding is that this is due to the OG version's assets using different lightmap UVs. There may be a few ways to fix this- I've had some limited success with generating new lightmap UVs in Unreal Engine using the old ones as a base, but it's not perfect. This issue seems to be limited to a handful of static world objects so far. It may be that these UVs have to be completely redone in the future.
