Can we get a Krystalinda version for Serena? I know this is almost a necro post but I figured I would ask anyway.

Edit: Found that the skeleton cannot be changed apparently. Sad. Deleted the part about Veronica.

No worries- I come back to the OG section and check here once in awhile (I usually won't see it as immediately as I do posts in the DE section, to be fair).

You can do this trick to see how Krystalinda would look on Serena:

      • For each mesh under Jade and Serena, right click the 'Value' field, select 'Set/Change dropdown selection options' and uncheck the 3 boxes.

      • Under each mesh for Jade double-click the 'Value' field, hit the dropdown and select Krystalinda, copy the mesh path/name before the colon (it will be something like '/Game/Characters/Human/N106/Wear/Mesh/N106_Wear_E001.N106_Wear_E001' (idk offhand what it will exactly be without checking so don't take that as gospel))
      • Click the corresponding mesh under Serena, and paste that path into the box and hit enter.
      • Profit

A note on the skeletons: while I think that they technically can be changed, it's not really worth the effort. As not only do you have to worry about skeletons, but then moving all the animations over, etc.

It's generally better to just heavily mod Serena by adding all the spells, skills, etc to her character.

Okay, so in order to help you, I need you to answer a few questions:

      1. Are you trying to use the cheat table on the ORIGINAL (OG) version? Or are you playing Definitive Edition? -- If it is Definitive Edition, you need to use the table located in the Definitive Edition section: https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonquestxisdefinitiveedition/mods/2
      2. If you are playing on OG, are you trying to use the table on a pirated copy?
      3. Anything else you can elaborate on this?

      Your feedback is appreciated :)

I'm using a pirate version of the original, i think the S definitive editon hasnt been pirated yet and from what i've read the definitive and original dont have that many differences anyway

The only version that's working somehow for me its the DQXI Costume Swap (Modded.exe)
tho the female character clothes and hair dont move when im using them on the hero and jade's high heels feet twist weirdly

Does the new mod fix those things or its just the same but with more models to swap?

Pirated copies will always have issues. The 'B' version of this table is based on the "Modded exe" version (by Popyall) and uses the exact same offsets from that table. I am aware of a number of issues that have been reported with that table as well, including an issue regarding the pointers for Erik's hair and body mesh. Unfortunately, all I can do is backport the values and make sure they're correct as written -- I can't fix issues with pirated copies because they run different address offsets entirely and I don't have any way of testing for them because I run a legitimate copy (with normal offsets).

The Definitive Edition table works with the FREE demo that's out now (and who's going to pirate a free demo?), and will add a number of new costumes available only in that version. It is "fixed" in the sense that it will work normally because it's not a pirated copy (i.e. it is the same version I can develop and test on).

My suggestion to you is this:
1- Use the 'B' version of this table (which is functionally the same as the 'Modded exe' table, with more options)
2- Play the free demo for Definitive Edition (and use the DE table, linked above)
3- Consider purchasing a legitimate copy at some point (this will ensure you're able to run other mods down the line)

2 & 3 are the only options that will actually fix the issues you are having

I've been seeing this a lot with people who are running 'modded exe' versions, specifically Erik's hair mesh -- this looks like an issue to do with the values backported from Popyall's table ( https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonquestxi/mods/43?tab=posts ), as others have reported the same issue there when using that version -- which, unfortunately, I don't have a way to correct (as I don't have a way to develop or test on the 'modded exe' version).

The best solution I can suggest is to use the vanilla Steam version, and make sure it's up-to-date (e.g. "verify game files"), which would allow you to use the regular version of the table. Better yet, it might be worthwhile to wait to purchase Definitive Edition, which is coming out December 4th (and won't be region locked).

I plan to port the mod to DE when it comes out, along with adding the new costumes and features available in that version.

Thanks so much for playing and supporting the mod!! <3

Great mod! Thanks for all your hard work. I have a question you can hopefully answer. This mod works very well for me, the only part I'm unsure of is how to re-import the costumes I chose from my last play session. I see the option to create a DQXI NPC Costume Swap.add file, but then when I start a new session I don't know how to actually use those previously saved selections. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, sorry it's taken a couple days to get back to you -- the saved costumes should load from the default location (generally the same as where it automatically saves) as soon as the Lua script is run when you load the table (as long as you click "yes" to run it). See the screenshot here: https://i.imgur.com/BaVXIet.jpg

There are a couple possibilities as to why it wouldn't:
      1. The process needs to be attached before loading the table. If it's done the other way around, the costumes will be read from the file, but won't be applied as there are no active addresses. You can always re-run the script when the game is attached by going to Table -> Show Cheat Table Lua Script -> Execute Script
      2. It isn't able to find/read the file. This could happen as the table only expects the file to be in one location (inside the Cheat Engine directory, as it's most likely to have write access there). So, it might be worth checking to see that the application is able to access the file and that the file isn't blank

Hopefully that should give you an idea of what's going wrong. At one point I had thought about expanding on the save/load functionality of the script (being able to manually save/load anywhere), but that'd be awhile off if i'm able to get to it.

Thanks for using NPC Costume Swap!

Good day. Your mod in general is great and it made me pick un interest in playing this game again. However, I have an issue an a question; first, I have to mention I use version 0.8.1-b since regular one won't work for me:

    1) Is there any chance you could add the save feature to version version 0.8.1-b, please?

    2) I get a lot of errors when trying to select the additional characters in the "value" tabs. Most of the time, when I try to select a character (it may be in the base mesh, in the current costume, the hair, etc.) it selects another. I noticed it first when i tried to set Red as the base mesh for Erick and it listed Serena instead. Thing is, some parts of characters are in other's slots and some are unavailable. I hope I explained the issue correctly. Is there any chance you could take a look at it? I don't think it's a particular issue for me, since the tabler as a whole works and I've been using the original version of mike9k1 without issues.

    Thanks and cheers!

      1. Absolutely! I will work on getting 0.8.2-b ready. It will be listed in the 'Miscellaneous' or 'Old Files' section, as the alternate versions are mostly meant for non-vanilla versions of the game.

(It should be noted that I don't actually have any way of testing the alternate versions, so I can only backport the values from Popyall's Modded exe table and make sure they're accurate as written)

      2. It's briefly noted in the description, but some characters share the same meshes: so, what ends up happening is that the table will show the first label in the list when a matching mesh value is selected. In the case of 'Red', they actually share the same face / base mesh with 'Mia', so (because 'Mia' comes before 'Red' in the list) it ends up displaying 'Mia' even when 'Red' was selected. It should look like this -- https://i.imgur.com/CF5HfMA.jpg

As far as anything else -- if you'd be able to provide a screenshot, i'd be happy to take a look.

Hi, thank you for this great mod
So far it's running great for me but for some reason I couldnt get it to work with Erik. I tried to change Erik to Mia but for some reason only, the body mesh/face mesh/base mesh changed, the hair mesh didn't. I tried to change him to Serenica and the same thing happened.
I'm using version 0.8.1-b since 0.8.2 and 0.8.2-b didn't load the correct option in the drop down list.
If it isn't too much trouble for you, can you please take a look at it ?

      Thank you

First off I hope you've had a good day. This is my first time using Cheat Engine and I may have made an error. Whenever I attempt to change anyone's model, the game simply crashes. I have tried using both the normal version and the B version. Also, should I open your file alone or mesh it with the original costume changer? Also, I am just trying to change Veronica to Adult Veronica. Any help would be great, thank you!

Edit: I went back and tried the original file and it is semi-working now. Still unsure how to change veronica to adult veronica.

Adult Veronica is actually an option for Serena as the mesh is meant for her skeleton. Veronica's model will only work (well) for child meshes due to her height. You can try to put a taller mesh (like Adult Veronica's) on her, but the lower half of her body will be in the ground, for starters, not to mention other goofiness that can occur with having a mismatched base mesh applied.

However, there is now a way to give Serena some of her 'awakened' powers, such as her powerful offensive spells in Act 2. So at least she'll play more like a proper 'Adult Veronica': https://sites.google.com/view/dqxi-commands (See 'Restore Serena's Awakening' section at the bottom)

You should just be able to open the .CT file on its own. As far as this issue..it sounds fairly unique. Usually if things are just done out of order or the offsets are incorrect (i.e. your game isn't up-to-date in Steam), the table will just show odd (or blank) values and you won't be able to change it.

You might start by clicking "no" to running the Lua script when opening the table and checking the 'Save Cosumes' entry at the bottom to reset the saved costume values. I am aware of a possible issue that can occur if the cheat table is closed (/ the values are saved) at the exact same time the game closes - those values can get corrupted (which is why I always recommend closing the table *before* closing the game).

It could be helpful to note the timing of the crash if you're able to replicate it -- you're saying it occurred right after you selected a value in the dropdown?

Hi, I really like you mod, and this mod make me want to start playing dragon quest xi now, I just started the game and I couldn't make the mod work, I had tested the costume swap cheat, their modded.exe version works fine for me, but this mod nope, it shows Body mesh/hair mesh/base mesh/face mesh, instead of the body +head that you showed in screenshot, do you got any idea how to fix it? i already installed the OOM mod

Okay, so this sounds like it may be one (or both) of 2 different things, both of which are documented: https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonquestxi/mods/88?tab=bugs

      1. 'Cheat Table not showing values correctly (Picture 3B instead of 3A)' -> use version '0.8.1-b' (listed in the 'Files' section)
      2. 'Odd appearance when trying to swap Hero's body at the start of the game' -> Climb Tor. After going through the nighttime cutscene sequence with Gemma, Hero will wake up wearing the normal purple tunic and can be swapped in CE without issues.

There was a post about 2 months back about this, I'll just quote it for convenience:

"From what I can tell, it seems like the game is programmed to 'warp' the face mesh of the characters to match the cutscene animations -- I think this is mainly so that the character's mouth movements can match the dialogue more precisely, but with this mod you end up with some odd byproducts on occasion: teeth sticking out, lips jutting, eyes bulging / looking outright demonic, hilarious facial expressions, etc.

      One of my favorites: https://i.imgur.com/LpcKm2E.jpg

Interestingly, you might find that it doesn't happen with some other short cutscenes, where a more 'generic' mouth movement is applied. One example that I can think of off the top of my head is when you join King Carnelian on the balcony in Act 3. It's very brief, with just a few lines of dialogue, but I noticed the face meshes didn't contort, and the mouth movements were a very simple open/close - it wasn't as tightly synced either, which made me think they just didn't bother applying the more complex animations in a few cases like that, where the extra detail in the mouth movements likely wouldn't have been noticed anyway.

Just my speculation ¯\_(?)_/¯ -- Komodo-san might know quite a bit more on that end (his NexusMods profile and Discord is linked at the bottom of the 'Description' tab). He's admittedly much more adept on the modeling/animation side. "
  10. Is anyone else getting purple skin on some of the characters? The outfits are correct, but the skin is discolored. I am using OOM. Otherwise great mod!

Oh, now I see. Thank you for the screenshot! ( https://i.imgur.com/ttEWtkp.png )

It looks like the 'Jade - Bunny Suit' costume under 'Body Mesh' was taken from her 'Re-Vamped' form. Naturally, it doesn't fit the color of her face in this case

I went through my dump of the mesh files and checked: it appears that the normal Bunny Suit form (with the regular skin tone) is actually a palette swap of P006_E007. Unfortunately, this mod doesn't (yet?) have support for accessing these alternate palette swaps as it would require an additional flag for the textures used. Doing this for every mesh would be quite the undertaking.

I do have an alternative, however: you can use the 'Re-Vamped' face mesh so at least the skin tones will match. Under 'Jade -> Face Mesh', right click the 'Value' field, select 'Set/Change dropdown selection options' and uncheck the 3 boxes. Double click the 'Value' field and enter '/Game/Characters/Human/P006/Face/Mesh/SK_P006_Face001_E007.SK_P006_Face001_E007'

This way, it will at least look consistent (you might even like the look better this way haha )

In any event, I will add this to the 'Bugs' section so that it is documented for anyone else who comes across this.
