About this mod
Various changes to names of characters, skills and transformations.
- Requirements
- Permissions and credits
- Changelogs
I have created multiple versions of the mod, so players can pick and choose what they'd prefer to have.
- A MAIN version which includes everything, changed skill names, character names, and my new original names for super saiyan forms which I will go into detail about.
- A LITE version that includes my changes and fixes to skill names and character names, but only changes the names of the Saiyan God forms leaving Super Saiyan 1, 2, 3, and 4 as they are. For those who may like my new names for the god forms but not the others.
- and a ANIME ACCURATE version(s), that includes my changes and fixes to the skills, and character names like the others but names of forms are made to be accurate to recent media and in some cases fan popularity so those that enjoy my other changes and fixes but not my custom names of forms can enjoy this mod as well.

SKILLS
Here is the list of various Skill, and Blast changes. For these changes I borrowed names used by other media such as the mobile game Dragon Ball Legends, the famous Tenkaichi 3 fan mod Budokai Tenkaichi 4 by TeamBT4, and for some I came up with completely original names based on other techniques in the franchise.
- Kakarottt! -> Kakarooott!
I believe the ending of "Kakarot" is emphasized rather than the "ot" due to the way Kakarot is spelled and pronounced in Japan "Kakarotto" with Broly in Japanese shouting "KAKAROTTOOO!" compared to the english dub which says it differently, saying "KAKAROOOOTT!" so I changed the skill to reflect that.
- Evil Barrier -> Devil Barrier
Name used in Tenkaichi 4 by TeamBT4, I believe the term "Evil" in Evil Barrier was a odd translation. With the correct term being "Demon" or "Devil" considering Gohan trained under Piccolo who taught him "Demon" style techniques hence the name felt appropriate for use in Sparking! Zero.
- I'll Get You For This... -> How Dare Youuu!
Custom name made by me, inspired by the iconic and much better interpretation of the "That's my Bulma!" scene from Dragon Ball Z Battle of Gods.
- Limits?! I Break Them! -> Divine Evolution
Changed the skill name to better communicate what the skill does to the player, informing them this skill works similarly to Super Saiyan Blue Goku's Kaioken skill which unlocks his Blue Kaioken form (temporarily) transforming Vegeta into his Super Saiyan Blue Evolved state rather than the name appearing like a generic buff skill.
- Wild Move -> Swift Fury
My own creation, "Wild Move" felt boring and generic so I opted for a more stylistic and thematic name for Broly's teleport skill.
- Untamed Instinct -> Roar of Awakening
I thought the name didn't convey what the skill was and didn't really match the theme of Broly's character besides the "Untamed" part. Instinct invoking how someone may react to something or Ultra Instinct. So I borrowed the altered name from a skill Broly has in Dragon Ball Legends.
- Hakai Aura -> Hakai Aura Barrier
Made to better convey the technique as a protective barrier rather than a buff skill like many people initially believed.
BLASTS
- Instant Transmission Kamehameha -> Warp Kamehameha
Used the name used in past games from the "Budokai" series, as the inclusion of "Instant Transmission" felt to long. The original translation for the move being "Teleportation Kamehameha Wave" hence the name change being appropriate. This change also applies the the Ultimate Attack version used by Super Saiyan Goku (Z - End).
- Dragon Blast -> Twin Meteor Bash
My own custom creation, inspired by Gokus moves having the "Meteor" term, "Gravity Bash" and "Super Dragon Twin Fists". I needed to change this moves name due to my name change for "Sonic Blast", and given this moves similarity to gravity bash and Super Saiyan 3 Gokus rush attack I feel the name is appropriate.
- "No Hard Feelings" Hit (Goku) -> God Impact (Temp. All-Out Impact)
Initially I wanted to replace the moves name with the original name for "Gravity Bash". However despite Golden Frieza having a separate slot for the same skill name he does not use it and instead shares the skill name with Super Saiyan Blue Goku. So I opted for a better sounding name that works for both fighters.
- "No Hard Feelings" Hit (Frieza) -> Emperor's Fury (Temp. All-Out Impact)
The name meant for Golden Frieza's version of the move, an original name suggested by a fellow discord user I won't state the name for their privacy obviously but you know who you are and thanks :).
- Flash -Sign- -> Unpolished Instinct
Replacement is the name the technique typically has in other forms of media such as Dragon Ball Legends and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, this also removes the odd and very boring name "Flash -Sign-" which I don't think is a very good name in general, it'd be like calling his Kamehameha "Beam -Sign-".
- God Impact (God Goku Originally) -> Gravity Bash
Simply using the name the technique has been given in other forms of media such as Dragon Ball Legends.
- Commencing Counterattack! -> Rock! Scissors! Paper!
For this move I opted for what TeamBT4 called the move, as Commencing Counterattack! felt kinda generic even if its in reference to something Goku said in Dragon Ball, the new name clearly communicates what this move does much better in my opinion and is much more stylized.
- Fierce Combination (Ultimate Gohan) -> Explosive Dance
Changed to avoid overlap with Future Gohan's Ultimate attack of the same name, and as this attack is MUCH more lacklustre than the Ultimate I felt it was appropriate.
- Divine Steel Blast -> Divine Katchintite
Inspired by Supreme Kai (AKA Shin)'s move from Dragon Ball Legends "Devastating Katchintite" where he similarly throws a block of "Katchin" at the opponent. Given the "Steel Blast" part of the name I assume that was meant to allude to the fictional metal but was lost in translation or was strangely made vague and generic.
- Full-Power Energy Wave -> Crush Stream
Name taken from the technique used in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. I was a bit surprised Caulifla was given the generic title for her beam attack given her larger presence in Super, popularity, and established naming conventions with Kale receive said treatment for her moveset. So I gave her beam attack the name "Crush Stream" to make it more unique and stylized to her character.
- Energy Blast -> Crush Burst
This name is one of my own creation. This time I felt like this move deserved a unique name even more so than her base forms beam attack, due to the unique animation pulled from the anime (despite it being created in her Super Saiyan form not Super Saiyan 2 but that's another conversation) so I combined her naming convention with what her attack is typically called "Burst of Energy / Energy Blast" and created this new name.
BREATH SUPER ATTACKS
I always took issue with the fact that attacks like "Chou Makouhou or Chou Makousen" were just left untranslated, they aren't like series staples or named attacks they essentially translate to "Mouth Energy Wave" and in Hirudegarns case "Demons Super Mouth Flash". So I took the liberty of giving these attacks new unique names fitting for each character.
- Chou Makouhou (Ape Vegeta) -> Galick Blaster
Name taken from Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle, where it is used to name the very same attack.
- Chou Makouhou Barrage -> Galick Blaster Barrage
Simply adopted for the Barrage variant of the move.
- Chou Makouhou (Dodoria) -> Brutal Launcher
Created by me, inspired by Dodoria's theme of being a large and violent brute. Using this technique to kill Dende's sibling on Namek.
- Chou Makouhou (Giant Janemba) -> Demonic Cannon
Created by me, acting as a precursor to Super Janemba's "Evil Cannon" matching the characters theme as being a corrupted demon from Hell.
- Chou Makousen (Hirudegarn) -> Demon Explosive Flash
Created by me, inspired by the translation. I wanted the name to be similar to techniques used by Gohan and Piccolo (Z - Early) so the player has an idea of what to expect when using the technique, it being a short range breath attack.
ULTIMATES
- Instant Transmission Kamehameha -> Warp Kamehameha
See Blast Super version for change reasons.
- Sonic Blast -> Super Dragon Strike
Name partly from Dragon Ball Legends attack used by Super Saiyan God Goku from the Battle of Gods movie "Super Divine Crimson Dragon Strike" the attack being very similar to Sparking! Zeros attack with both being referencing the same moment during the film where Goku hits Beerus with a Kamehameha after using Instant Transmission. I did not like the name "Sonic Blast" as it felt very generic, not connected to how Goku's moves are typically named, and did not represent the move very well at all.
- Point blank kamehameha -> Instantaneous Assault
Name borrowed from Dragon Ball Legends and other media where this technique is referred to by this name. The move involves a lot more than JUST the Kamehameha, while it is a highlight I believe having a name that encapsulates the move in its entirety was the better choice and also more accurate given this is what it's been called historically.
- Spirit Bomb (GT Goku) -> Super Ultra Spirit Bomb
Name changed to the name typically used in other media like Dragon Ball Z Dokkan Battle and Dragon Ball Legends. I felt this change was necessary due to the narrative influence on this attack and the unique animation in game inspired by the events from GT, whereas in previous titles despite the narrative influence it didn't do anything special and was just a large spirit bomb like others before it.
- Keep Going! -> Break Through!
A name created by me inspired previously established iterations of the move from BT3, and Dragon Ball Legends. The name suppose to be representative of Goku shouting his determination to win against King Piccolo in the iconic moment. Previously being called "Penetrate" in older Sparking! titles opting for a name inspired by Dragon Ball Legends' version of it called "Blast Through!".
- Final God Explosion -> God Final Explosion
A simple rewrite done by myself, following the trend of other moves like "God Final Flash" and following that format. I felt this was much better and represented the move better as a godly version of Final Explosion.
- I'm the One Who'll Kill You! -> You Must Die By My Hand!
Simply using what Frieza says in the english dub for the move which sounds a lot more like what Frieza would say, being very proper but very aggressive and entitled.
- Unforgivable! -> Self-Destruct
Name borrowed from Tenkaichi 4 that better conveys the moves function, and done to avoid overlap with Gohan's skill of the same name.
- Gigantic Ball -> Planet Crusher
Name taken from Dragon Ball Legends where Broly uses the same technique. I felt the name "Gigantic Ball" was VERY lazy and uninspired, the "Gigantic" being a theme for Broly and Kale's moves but that combination makes the move just "Beeg Ball". So I opted for the much cooler and already pre-estabilished name for the move "Planet Crusher".
- Power of Darkness -> Darkness Assault
I created this moves name, as "Power of Darkness" sounded very very generic and doesn't match what Slug does during his attack.
- Supernova (Cooler) -> Death Flash (Not functional currently)
I wanted to rename Final Form Coolers ultimate name to "Death Flash" the same name the technique has in Dokkan Battle, as he does not fire a Supernova until after his beam lands a hit which maybe confuse players who expect the move to work like it does for Mecha Frieza who just throws the Supernova. Unfortunately Cooler shares the name for his Ultimate with Mecha Frieza so the changes I wanted to make can't be done.
- Godly Black Kamehameha -> Requiem Black Kamehameha
Just a simple change to match Goku Blacks superior and arrogant attitude, adopting the name from his move in Dragon Ball Legends where he does a similar action.
- Super Large Sphere of Destruction -> Massive Sphere of Destruction
A simple change as "Super Large" felt unnecessarily long and inefficient.
CHARACTER NAMES
- All characters that were indicated to be from Dragon Ball Super with "(Super)" will now have the series logo/kanji for Super rather than the english word appearing as such "Goku (超)".
Having the entire word "Super" next to a characters name felt weird as the other indication of "____ (Z)" is much shorter and taking up less space while quickly denoting series. The logo for Dragon Ball Super being the Kanji character for the same word works perfectly as the indication a character is from that series much like how "Z" does for those characters.
- Characters from the "GT" series and solely appear in that series such as Baby Vegeta and Syn Shenron have had the "(GT)" stripped from their name
It is unnecessary to denote the series when it is the only one they appear in, the same has been done to Pan and Uub however changes will be made should DLC release Dragon Ball Super and Z versions of the characters.
- Borrowing from 3azi, I have changed "Vegeta (Z - Scouter)" to "Vegeta (Z - Early)" and the original "Vegeta (Z - Early)" to "Vegeta (Z - Mid)"
I strongly agree the characters should be named in that way. Credit to them for the name, which they used in their Best Character Names mod.
- Goku (Teen) as been changed to "Kid Goku"
In a similar fashion Gohan (Kid), and Trunks (Kid) have been changed to "Kid Gohan" and "Kid Trunks" respectively as this was how the characters were named in past games.
- Gohan (Teen) has been changed to "Gohan (Youth)" in the MAIN and LITE versions, while ANIME ACCURATE has two different versions. One having Gohan (Teen) as "Gohan (Youth)" and another "Teen Gohan" like past Sparking! titles.
- Gohan (Adult) has been changed to simply "Gohan" due to that version of Gohan representing Gohan in Z, Super and GT.
- "Piccolo" has been changed to "Piccolo (Z - Early)" and "Piccolo (Fused with Kami)" has been changed to "Piccolo"
The reason for the change is same reason "Gohan (Adult)" was altered to "Gohan". Originally I was going to call him Piccolo (Z - End) but I realized this version of Piccolo like Gohan is also representing Piccolo in Z, Super and GT.
- Trunks (Sword) and Trunks (Melee) have been changed to "Future Trunks (Z - Sword)" and "Future Trunks (Z - Melee)" respectively.
- Gohan (Future) has been changed to "Future Gohan" like past titles.
- Majin Buu (Evil) has been changed to "Majin Buu (Pure Evil)" as that is what they are referred to in other media.
- Kid Buu has been changed to "Majin Buu (Origin)"
I never hated the name "Kid Buu" it just didn't really make sense to me, if any of the forms is like a child its the "Innocent" AKA "Fat" form. Considering this is Majin Buu's ORIGINAL form his name should reflect that, I like to think of it like Girantina (Origin forme) from Pokemon, just a small change I personally like. Not to mention I don't think there's a single time they refer to this form as "Kid Buu" in the anime, it was just a odd or mistranslation that stuck. This will be for MAIN and LITE versions, with the ANIME ACCURATE versions having "Kid Buu" left unchanged.
- Cell, Cell 2nd Form and Perfect Cell have been changed to "Cell, Imperfect Form", "Cell, Semi-Perfect Form", and "Super Perfect Cell".
- Fusion Android 13 had been changed to "Super Android 13".
SUPER SAIYAN FORMS
Now for the Super Saiyan forms, here are the names and there altered versions:
- Super Saiyan God -> Divine Saiyan (In the MAIN and LITE versions). Unchanged in the ANIME ACCURATE versions.
- Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan -> Divine Super Saiyan (In the MAIN and LITE versions) and "Super Saiyan Blue" in the ANIME ACCURATE versions.
- Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Evolved -> Awakened Divine Super Saiyan (In the MAIN and LITE versions) and "Super Saiyan Blue Evolved" in the ANIME ACCURATE versions.
- Super Saiyan 2 -> Ascendant Super Saiyan (In the MAIN version). Unchanged in the LITE and ANIME ACCURATE versions.
- Super Saiyan 3 -> Ultimate Super Saiyan (In the MAIN version). Unchanged in the LITE and ANIME ACCURATE versions.
- Super Saiyan 4 -> Primal Super Saiyan (In the MAIN version). Unchanged in the LITE and ANIME ACCURATE versions.
- Super Saiyan Full-Power and Kale's Super Saiyan (Berserk) -> Super Saiyan Berserk (In the MAIN and LITE versions). Unchanged in the ANIME ACCURATE versions.
*A document can be found in the download for those curious about why I named these forms as they are, they would have made an already VERY long read into an even longer one.*
and that's it I hope someone else likes these names like I do, If you don't that's cool, that's why I made the anime accurate versions for freedom of choice.
