It is not enough to say "1.0.7.0" as there are many versions out there that do not have support for Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
We previously used the "alpha" versions which were from Wavebends branch, however as described on the mod page - Joel's version is preferred because Wavebend has not been online for some time (which is fair) but Joel has been updating for us - hence Wavebend's version is outdated.
Please use the latest version from Joel's branch: Link to Github Please only download via github and do not download the mod manager from any other website.
Test with one mod active!
This is because 99% of issues are conflicts! This will test if it's a conflict with another mod or if its the mod itself causing issues. This will help a great deal to narrow down the issue. Please do not comment "mod has issues" and be using 50+ mods as you will likely encounter conflicts if you are not careful. Conflicts can mess with your save, it can create issues - so narrowing it down to a conflict is a good start.

Floating head? Invisible bodies?
Those are usually caused by Mesh Swapping mods! These are mods that edit a certain file called "root level description". This is not only reserved for "outfit" mods for Rook but also include:
Hair (including for NPC's)
Inquisitor/Solas outfit swaps
Character Swaps - NPC's and companions
Outfit swaps/start gear
Piercings/helmet swaps
Weapons Overhaul (if they haven't imported the mesh directly into the weapon)
If you are unsure if a mod is a Mesh Swapping mod, please do this:
Load the Mod into FMM
Highlight/click once on the mod in the left side
In the right side, click on the "description" tab
Check the affected files for this line: levels/root/rootlevel/rootlevel/description
If it has that line - it is a mesh swapping mod.
ALL mods that edit the description file are incompatible with each other! To make them compatible with each other you will need a Library Mod! Please do NOT use The Swap Library. It has TONS of issues which is not limited to:
Crashing in Dock Town
Crashing at Start Up
Invisible Bodies/Floating head
Graphical errors
Game not starting
Generally unstable and taking a lot of resources
We love TSL and what it stands for, and are grateful for it, however the mod itself is problematic as described above.
Please read this guide, that teaches you how to make your own Library Mod.
If you refuse to make your own Library Mod and you have mesh swapping mods, we cannot and will not help you because modding is at your own risk! We cannot make it more easy than it is. Thank you for understanding.
Deleting the ModData folder is a normal troubleshooting step! It clears what mods were used last time you opened the game via Frosty. It will not delete your modlist as your modlist is stored elsewhere. (AppData)
You can typically find your game installation here (it can vary depending on where you bought DAV from/where you installed it): C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Dragon Age The Veilguard C:\Program Files\EA Games\Dragon Age The Veilguard
For steam, if you have no idea where you installed DAV, you can do this:
Go to steam library
Find DAV - right click on DAV
Hover over manage
Choose "browse local files"
The folder should now open up.
Where is your game installed? What is your harddisk?
This is essential to know as system requirements for the game says the game should be on a SSD. This is because an HDD is slower than an SSD. If you have it on an HDD, you are bound to have issues we cannot help with!
Similarly: Please read mod descriptions!
I cannot stress how important this is. A lot of the issues we encounter daily could have been prevented if people read through mod descriptions. All the information you need is all there. What it conflicts with, what it does, potential issues. This goes for ALL mods! Even beyond DAV!
If you do not understand English, fair - but use google translate, ask in the post section if someone could elaborate on certain information due to language barrier. We will help, but it is very discouraging for us modders when we see a person who clearly has not read the mod descriptions or we have to state the same information described in the description - again.
Elaborate on your issues!
Do not just comment "won't work" or "doesn't work" or "mod doesn't work" or "please fix issues".
We cannot help without information. We need to know what we are dealing with. Include as much information as possible:
Version of Frosty (note BOTH if you're using Joels or Wavebends, version number like 1.0.7.0, and if you use the latest from Joel or the Alpha versions! Saying 1.0.7.0 is not enough!)
Screenshot your modload order from Frosty so we can see potential conflicts/what mods you are using! It helps a great deal, more than you think. What mods you use matters.
Screenshot the issue or at the very least describe your issue in depth! The more information we have about the specific issue, the more we can narrow it down to possible culprits which can then help us help you!
Computer Specs. This is because we need to exclude if it's your PC that cannot handle mods or the game. Mods like personal libraries take a great deal of resources, so if your PC is below the minimum system requirements for DAV, we will have a harder time helping you. Unfortunately, we cannot help with issues that start like that.
Further issues
If you have further issues, please check the troubleshooting forum in DAV Modding Discord server. Reason for doing it over discord compared to the comment section here, is because there are lots of people who can help there compared to a comment section + we have an easier time helping as we will need screenshots, in depth explanation issues and we will send screenshots back etc. It is very hard to troubleshoot in a comment section on Nexus!
This is wonderful, thank you! I know a lot of modders don't appreciate requests so totally no worries if this isn't something you wanna do, but would it be possible to get an alt version where he just has the skull with no crown/ hair/ stache?
The "illusion" head on his otherwise very lich body always bugged me. and while I plan to use the main version I absolutely love the dapper Alternate version. The mustache alone is perfection.
