If reporting a texture you know that glitches, please tell me the texture name and or/path and I will add it to my To do list
Tested in Alpha 5 on my laptop RTX 2060 I can now load all the fixes
Alpha 5 sometimes has an issue where you get `Object reference not set to an instance of an object.`
As this issue also happens with no mods installed, the current fix is to reinstall Alpha 5 and let it rescan the games without copying and pasting the profile from the last versions.
As of Frosty Mod Manager 1.0.6.2 Alpha 2 (minimum) this mod may no longer be needed. I have done some testing after they said they fixed some texture bugs and the kaleidoscope like bug that some companion armours get now sorts itself out and have not caused me infinite load yet
For previous version of Frosty this mod is still sadly a requirement to fix these bugs. So until that fix is in the latest stable of Frosty this mod page will remain up.
This post is pinned so will remain at the top if more people would like to test Alpha 2 with older mods that use to cause infinite loads or the kaleidoscope like bug please do test it and tell me your findings as a reply to this comment.
Hey there, i have some textures in my game that still glitch out (kaleidoscope-y), from the mod Resplendent Inquisition, while using Frosty 1.0.6.2 Alpha 2. This mod is the only one touching these files out of my list.
So far (not in Skyhold yet) the effected ones are rugs and beds, but with my limited knowledge i really don't know which files they are exactly. The bed is the one you wake up in in Haven (prp_orl_rusticbed_d or prp_bed_d ? i really don't know). The rugs are the half circle inquisition rug as well as the carpet in the main hall in redcliffe castle/redcliffe chantry. I bet i will come across more when i reach Skyhold, as others have reported in that mod's comment section. I don't even know if you even cover those textures as they are somewhat different than the ones you fixed up. Honorknight26, the mod author of Resplendent Inquisition, was referencing your mod in her troubleshooting guide for fixes for the kaleidoscope glitch, so... here I am.
Thank you for your time, i hope you can find a solution for this.
Hi thanks I will take a look into this and also pass this information on to the frosty team when I do as well. As the texture glitches is something one of them were looking into.
Seconded as of July 2024, this mod is absolutely necessary for retextures of the Inquisitor's formal wear. Without it, I was unable to enter the servants' quarters in the Winter Palace while using Resplendent Formal Wear. I got an infinite load. As soon as I installed this mod, I no longer had that problem and was able to complete Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts with no further glitches.
Can this be used instead of “Modded Hair in DLC”? Not sure of the full scope of your mod and would rather use less mods if possible. Specifically I’m curious if your mod prevents all the DLC issues with facial textures.
Thank you for this. Doing a full rerun in 2025 and these mods are lifesaver. I'm probably doing something wrong but I still get infinite loads with Yennefer complexion
Thank you so much for this mod!!! It saved Dorian's amazing black and gold outfit (found in this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/2775) from the kaleidoscope bug! I am using Frosty 1.0.6.3, for anyone wondering if these fixes are still needed; they are needed in certain occasions, still!
Keep up the good work, Padme, you are a literal lifesaver and this community would definitely be poorer without you!
Cheers!
Edit (27/02/2025): I went through WEWH flawlessly wearing this retex: https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonageinquisition/mods/4331 with DAI Formal WEWH Frosty Texture Glitch Fix.Thank you again! :D
I find the different versions of frosty confusing. I’m using the lastest one - 1.0.3. I get bugs with most texture mods effecting companions, for example Cass armor retextures, Vivienne armor etc. I use these fixes but even with them I get infinite load. I wonder if I should downgrade the mod manager version? Thanks for this mod.
Amazing work as always, and thank you for your work on this!
Would it be possible to extend the texture fixes to environmental textures? For example, Caffeine Painter’s Spring retexture frequently causes the rainbow grid on my PC despite it being run on all ultra settings on an SSD.
What is Texture DAIMM and how do I not load it with frosty? I have an issue with my inquisitor (glitched face) and I'm using the "DAI Inquisitor and NPCs Frosty Texture Glitch Fixes" but every time I have it crashes on load I changed the texture to use the updated Frosty version and that doesnt help with the glitch but it does load
Mods made for DAIMM, will be this format "ModName.DAIMod" files but that might not matter anymore, because Frosty v1.0.6.3 now converts them to FMM automatically now, "ModName.FBMod" files. Older FMM mods still require both the "ModName_01.archive" & "ModName.FBMod" files, or converting to the new single file format.
I was having Infinite loading screen, but before reaching the Menu Screen (this was new to me). Not the once common issue, when loading a save (was caused by older early mods, after updates changed stuff). I'm using Frosty v1.0.6.3 (MM & Editor), with 250+ mods installed some very old, some new, some personal mods (mostly remakes of simple DAIMM Mods that needed updating to Frosty).
Last time I modded the game was with Frosty v1.0.5.9 & it took some manual editing of the FMM config files to transfer my Load Order from the old per game .Ini configs (stored in Frosty install location), to the new Local App Data AIO JSON configs. At least the actual LO section's content block could be moved without needing to edit it for each FBMod individually. The new system is better once setup correctly.
Turned out it was just these "Glitch" mods causing the infinite loading & coming here suggested the mods were no longer needed. On getting my game loaded, I then found just my character Skin (Not companions/Armour) was exhibiting the kaleidoscope bug. It was a personal mod, made with v1.0.5.9, so I had project files & remade it with 1.0.6.3, as suggested, but issue remained.
However, I continued playing on that old save, to see if everything else was OK. That save was in the interior Coravacus section of The Western Approach. I was pleasantly surprised when on leaving Coravacus (which required loading a new area) the kaleidoscope skin was gone. My Dark Elven skin was no longer tripping on LSD.
Never needed an in game transition being required before & I have been heavily modding this game since release, though it was over two years of Bioware DLC + patching & required DAIMM modding to mature before I considered it worth actually playing the game beyond starting area.
So be aware that you may need to have an in-game area transition loading screen to actually see full the effects of your changes.
Spoke to soon, seems like The skintone Glitch is only related to specific Interior locations needing loading screens. It came back when I entered Valammar, in the Hinterlands (Deep Trouble quest).
While the full "DAI Inquisitor and NPCs Frosty Texture Glitch Fixes" File Gives Infinite loading Screen bug, Note: I had the glitch even with Vanilla armour equipped, so not an armour issue. There's a Seperated version. DAI Separate Inquisitor and NPC Frosty Texture Glitch Fixes-3439-1-0-1621523995
This contains these three Skin Tints Fixes, So I installed just the one I needed (In bold), a Qunari one also exists. DAI Companion and Advisor Skin Tints Frosty Texture Glitch Fixes.fbmod DAI Elf, Dwarf and Human Skin Tints Frosty Texture Glitch Fixes.fbmod DAI Qunari Skin Tints Frosty Texture Glitch Fixes.fbmod
My game loaded just fine with just that skintone mod & more importantly it fixed my skintone as well. So use just the one you need for your Inquisitor.
Sadly the way these fixes work is that they are unpredictable which your computer might work with. Some computers can handle the main file without issues, but others run into issues.
Well it use to auto convert them, quicker looting and such mods may work in frosty now with these, but texture mods I am not too sure about. But apparently it converts them better than previously.
Trying to use the hf_hed_inq file to fix infinite loading just before character creation caused by femshepping's 4k face textures, but it doesn't fix it, and it also causes infinite loading on its own even without the face texture. Could it be conflicting with DAImod textures even though I installed them with DAIMM and not Frosty? Using the dual mod manager method.
+1. Same issue here. I am making an EF and trying to use Femshepping BloodDrunk complexion, which works until I finish character customization. After that it is infinite loading. I have tried both downloading the chargen bundle, and this mod glitch fix. Neither work. :/
So finally got FMM working again for me, and sadly I can't replicate the issues.
Not sure why Chargen Bundle wouldn't work unless a frosty update broke bundle editing for DAI even further. I just tested with my fixes + 4k femshepping BloodDrunk complexion and had no infinite loading. I also had no issue with the non 4k one too.
I would make sure the chargen bundle mod is at the bottom of your list if you have load order drop down set to list. This means it will override other mods that edit bundles too. Sadly means those mods will stop working but sadly it is how it is with bundle mods.

Thank u so much for everything u have done!
Your DAI Formal WEWH Frosty Texture Glitch Fix is still necessary to play using, e.g. Halamshiral Finery Remake in 8k and 4k
Using 1.0.6.2 MM
