Thanks for this, it always bothered me that all your advisors suddenly get their specializations when you do, even though dialogue clearly refers to them already knowing those techniques/spells/whatever.  This is how the game should have been vanilla (isn't even that much of a balance issue).

Good job editing the armor percentage of mercenaries. Grace.

Does this affect what the companions wear at the Winter Palace?

I'm like 99% sure it shouldn't. I know from testing Trespasser saves that this mod is compatible in the Winter Palace during the DLC. But... I have not actually gone to the Winter Palace during the base game with this mod active yet. This mod doesn't touch formal wear at all, so hopefully the answer remains no.

What exactly this mod does is unlock one specialization tree for each companion from the start, or you can choose one of the three available for the class? As for PJ companions, do the shades in the game change over time to different ones? This mod brings those colors back?

All of your companions are already assigned a specialization from the start of the game, but they're flagged as "hidden" until after you reach Skyhold. This mod just unticks the "hidden" box, so those trees are available before Skyhold. Everyone's unique specializations are listed on the wiki: https://dragonage.fandom.com/wiki/Companions_and_advisors_(Inquisition). This means during the prologue, for example, you can access Cassandra's Templar tree, Solas' Rift Mage tree, and Varric's Artificer tree.

If you unequip your companions outside of Haven/Skyhold (or look at them while they're unequipped in the inventory menu), the PJs use a combination of cotton/nugskin for tinting. But if you go find your companions in Haven/Skyhold to talk to them, they're wearing PJs with unique tints. This mod just makes the inventory/out-of-base PJs use the same tints as the Haven/Skyhold versions. I hope that makes sense.

I really want to use this, but I have other mods that affect character skill trees; if you're still willing to separate them out, that would be awesome.

(I did try loading this in, but the game crashed once I tried to open my inventory.  I'm presuming it's due to the skill tree conflict, and would like to confirm).

No worries, sorry I was too lazy to post a separate tints-only file to begin with. I'll have it up in a few.

Unfortunately... my mod may still be incompatible with mods that affect companion skill trees. It depends on how that mod is making edits.

The way I accomplished the per-character tints is I just made new unequipped armor templates for everybody-- everyone used to use "equip_armor_unequipped," but now there's "equip_armor_unequipped_dorian," etc. To apply the new unequipped armors to individual characters, I had to edit everyone's CharacterBlueprints. These are big ol' honking files that affect tons of things, from placeholder equipment (i.e. unequipped armors/weapons), to which particular ability trees companions have.

So, a mod that reassigns which trees companions have (say, let's give Solas access to the Dual Weapon tree) will conflict with my tints mod, since they're editing the same file.

A mod that changes the content of those trees themselves (e.g. let's add rogue skills onto Solas' unique Rift Mage tree) should be compatible.

Let me know how it goes. Depending on what the other skill tree mod is, I might be able to patch my mod and that one or give you suggestions on how to do it.

This is fantastic! I want to especially thank you for the no-armour tint changes. That is such a pet peeve of mine, and I never thought I'd see a mod for it.

Glad you like it! It bothered me a lot as well. And then when I realized that changing the inquisitor's PJ tints also affected companions, something had to be done.
