Thanks. Does it crash the game or does the game freeze on load? I had the freeze-on-load problem, but if I immediately start the game again and load the same savegame, it works.
Anyway, I've cobbled together a simple no-code version (Hakkon DAIMOD) and I'll upload it shortly. Good luck and please report problems if you have any.
Thank you so much for this mod!! I hated how the elven cowl shrank the ears and I did not use headwear on elves because of it. I've looked for a mod to fix that before, but this time besides looking for "elven cowl" I searched "ears" and by pure luck clicked on this despite the title and saw the example images. I tried to keep low expectations because the description of the image says "Sera and Solas", but it works on the player character. I'm so happy. Thank you again. I've also used your staff upgrade appearance switcher and your switch appearance tutorial got me started on using frosty and now I use it for a lot of more stuff. Thanks to you I got a lot of more fun out of this game.
Hi, the .daimod version is conflicting with the Magister Birthright's mod for some reason; the amulet doesn't show up unless I remove Dorian's cowl. Is there a way around this?
That mod states on it's page; "Sometimes if you have helmet equipped the amulet won't show up. You may need to un-equip the helmet and make sure helmet settings is set to hidden"
Is there any point hiding protruding ears if you have to also hide the whole hat?
When I downloaded the Frosty version for JoH, Frosty wouldn't let me apply it (stating there was an archive missing?). Would I be fine to use the Frosty version without JoH fixes instead? Not the end of the world, but I would love to fewer ears poking through helmets.
As of this writing, I believe Frosty is only able to install Frosty mods from zips/rars but not 7zips. Unzip the 7z, and then install it through Frosty. On that note, Frosty can import daimods too, but not through archived formats.
This mod takes advantage of an option that Bioware put into the system which allows an asset to flick an on-off switch in the game.
In the files this option is called "AlternateHeadMorph_NoEars". With the word "morph" in there, I think it's to do with the shape of the head, it's "skeleton" if you will.
I don't have any idea how to change those morphs, or whether it's possible, but it might be something a Frosty model editor could do.
Each character has 2 different heads. One with normal ears and one with little stubs instead of ears. They are called "HeadMorphs". This mod tells the game to use the stubby eared head, known in the game files as, "AlternateHeadMorph_NoEars".
Each hat has it's own setting for which head to use, and in the original game, the setting was wrong on many hats - this mod just changes the hats' EquipTemplate file so they tell the game to use the correct HeadMorph - for the hats shown in the screenshots.
Sadly, as mentioned elsewhere, occasionally even the stubby ears poke through a little bit, and to fix that you would need someone who can edit meshes.
[edit: 25/5/18] We had a go at this on Discord today (Leviathan, YueKyo etc), and found that the alternate head morph no ears file for Sera (called something like ef_sera_noears) contained a link to Sera's normal headmorph and some values (along with a link to her hair and values for her hair) - these values looked like references to another bunch of files which probably control the morphing amounts - sadly, hashes really put a dampener on modding as we don't know where they point to. So "The Let's Mod Sera's Stupidly Pointy Alternate Head Earstubs Project" is on hiatus until something magical happens.

Absolutely, will do. Thank you for responding so quickly!

Aaaah you're taking the piss. Funny guy. gg
This affects the equip_template file for each hat.
