This mod bugs the shield defence skill, removing the "+100% threat generated" portion of the ability
EDIT: It also screws up "disorienting criticals" lowering the 50% crit damage bonus to 25%, removes the 100% attack bonus from Pinpoint Strikes, but buffs warrior "Cleave" damage bonus and stagger %. Several cross-class combo damage calculations are also altered.
These are too weirdly specific to be unintentional, and there are probably alot more abilities affected by the author's arbitrary changes.

    Avoid this altogether.

EDIT#2: Ok, it seems the file in the mod uses the 1.00v skills template as a base and reverts all ability values to that game version. But it does indeed fix haste.

Still say its best to avoid this.

A pity indeed. Judging by that you can tell the difference perkyguy, do you know how to import haste fix code into the latest patch skill template?

Well, it seems the fix is very simple and the steps needed can be found here
Talk:Haste (Dragon Age II) | Dragon Age Wiki | Fandom

It's indeed the difference I've found when compared two abi_base files.
I fixed Haste and Barrier using 1.04 abi_base file, uploaded it here (google drive)
      Haste and Barrier Fix
Now the game treats these spells like abilities and thus magic resistance is not checked (why it was needed in the first place, it's a friendly buff spell). Fixing a bug using another game mechanic is brilliant. Bravo, Bioware.

The original creator of this fix can use my file to update the mod, it's crucial, because old version templates can wreak havoc in the game, leaving the player clueless when something does break. I don't want to create "another fix" page, fixing the same thing and stating "now it's fixed for good!" there.

The steps from the Wiki page you posted are exactly the ones I followed to make this mod, as stated in my description. Can you explain how mine somehow doesn't work as intended?

Edit: I've played around a bit and were the steps on the Wik outdated, and instead was I supposed to extract the abi_patch file instead of the base?

Edit2: Okay now I think I get it, step 7 was a bit unclear and I was meant to delete the entries for all the other untouched abilities, leaving them in reverted them to their 1.00 version, overwriting the patches. I've made a new file which should work. Will upload it soon.

Eagerly waiting for perkyguy's reply on the new version haha
Currently don't have the time to test this mod myself, but I do want something like this for my future playthrough. So hopefully the new version works as intended.

Well, both Shifroval and the newly uploaded version still have haste's duration impacted by MR, even though both have Haste properly flagged as a buff...

I just tested my new version and haste and barrier worked for me. Did it at least fix the mess up for all the other abilities for you?

Near as I can tell, either file has absolutely no effect on my game, which is weird as I havent added or removed anything since the previous download.

You use only one fix at a time, right?

Its almost insulting you would ask. And even if i did (and they worked), the end result would be anything else other than "no effect"

The old, faulty 1.00 version of the mod still works as it used to. The two new ones do nothing at all for me.

Sorry for the late reply, I've read the discussion above and I've really just changed the base exctracted abi_base file, but now I've stripped it of all but two rows in the section, leaving only Haste and Barrier spells, their corresponding upgrades are left intact. Not sure we need to change them at all.
Anyway, here's the file, check if it works for you.
      Haste and Barrier Fix v2
And just in case, if you have Haste and Barrier already learned, Maker's Sigh them for that character, the game may store the old values somewhere.

I just installed the game from scratch. Used only a font change mod to see that the mods are getting loaded.
Downloaded someone else's end game save with a mage.
Tried all the files uploaded here and none of them work for me.

So I sat down and tried to make my own by following that guide Shifroval posted.
First of all that person said MAGE_CREATION_FORCEFIELD is for Barriers. It is not. MAGE_ARCANE_FORCE_FIELD is for Barriers.
Secondly, this is my first time editing a DA2 file so it took me some time to work it out. But after I edited G2DA_COLUMN_30 for both MAGE_CREATION_HASTE and MAGE_ARCANE_FORCE_FIELD by setting them to 1, deleted everything else from G2DA_ROW_LIST (took a while cause I can't select multiple rows), haven't touched anything in G2DA_COLUMN_LIST (cause if I did, talent skills would vanish in game), I saved the modified file and noticed that my exported file is 537kb unlike the files I downloaded here which were all ~5kb. Not sure why.

I put my file in the correct place, loaded the game up. Tested Barrier, and for me now it lasts 20 seconds on everyone (the mage character has above 90% magic resistance). Tested Barrier, visually the bubble effect vanishes after ~3 seconds. Previously it vanished instantly with that high magic resistance. Barrier tooltip says it should last for 6 seconds but that's not the case. At least not from the visual effect cause the skill itself doesn't have an icon in the toolbar.

Lastly I checked All the abilities that perkyguy said in the OP and none of them, from my observation, lost what they had with the unmodded game.
Quit the game, removed my mod, booted it up again and Haste and Barrier instantly vanished from the mage. Put the mod back and they went back to working properly. Didn't even use Maker's Sigh.

Here's the link to my mod
      Haste and Barrier fix

      Please test it.

That's exactly what i did, modified 2 spells in question, then removed all other lines in G2DA_ROW_LIST, everything else is untouched. Beats me why the size differs. What program did you use to edit gdas? I use GFF Editor. It can easily delete selected rows in batches.

      Edit.
Repeated all the steps again on a unmodified abi_base and I too have a size of 537kb. Weird. Have I accidentally edited a wrong file from my previous experiments? It still lists 115 entries in G2DA_COLUMN_LIST though.
It seems it indeed is the way to fix the issue.

I used the tool uploaded here
      https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/4512/?tab=files
From what I've seen this tool doesn't have an option to delete multiple rows at once so I had to manually hold Delete key until everything but those two were gone. I did open your uploaded file and it looked identical to mine but the file size was only 5kb for some reason while mine was 537kb.

So my file works for you?

Ok, tested the two new introductions and here are my results:
Shifroval's second file is identical to the first in that nothing changes for me.

Urosh, however, seems to have nailed it, as it indeed fixes the durations of both spells, without borking anything i could notice at a cursory glance.
