I am trying to increase the font size to play on my 4k TV, but I only managed to get to the .gfx files. I don't know how to open them or how to package a font in that format. What is a .gfx file, and how do I edit or create one?
just downloaded this mod for something new, the old typefaces were definitely A Choice but didnt bother me much. However... the status effect/combat info annoyed me to no end i had to shut it off i couldnt stand looking at it, imagine my absolute DELIGHT when i found out this mod changed it :') i really like it as a whole too, it's now one of those "i cant believe i played without it for so long" type of mods for me. regarding the font size im on the opposite side of the spectrum where i wish it was a teensy bit smaller. i still really like it and it looks so much better than before, thank you for your work!!
Finally! This will make a world of difference in my next playthrough and become an indespensable mod. The original, modern fonts always looked really jarring to me, to a certain degree taking me out of the rpg experience. I can just imagine they were meant as placeholders, but in the end weren't replaced with something more suitable for some unfathomable reason.
You'll need to extract "fonts_en-us.gfx" file from "originsfont.erf" archive. Download: pyGFF editor + DA2 DLC filenames for pyGFF > To install, extract "gff4editor-1.0" to any non-game installation folder > open "editor.exe" (+make shortcut to the desktop);
- extract "originsfont.erf" from mod archive; - open pyGFF > File > Export all > select "originsfont.erf" > select folder to extract files > ok > overwrite? > yes > ok; - open folder that contain extracted files > make a copy of "fonts_en-us.gfx" and rename it to "fonts_ru-ru.gfx" (or to any your language - I can confirm that russian (ru-ru) is working perfectly). - place: "fonts_en-us.gfx" and "fonts_ru-ru.gfx" files to "override" folder (C:\Users\%YOUR_USER_NAME%\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age 2\packages\core\override).

So, kudos for this!
Turns out I've had this installed for over a year, and deadass forgot that the vanilla game doesn't look like that. XD
