I just felt reasonably badass during the duel! Some running and screaming, and he drank one potion (I'll take it) on hard. I fell into a comfortable dodge-attack-dodge rhythm, and I actually felt like when I got impaled it was my own damn fault for messing up the dodge instead of the boss fight being cheap as hell. Loved it.
I just fought the Arishok with this mod installed and he still chained knocked me down to death and healed himself. Wasn't a very fun fight at all even with the mod installed. I still had to do plenty of running and screaming like a little girl.
Thank you, I thought I was the only one who felt this way yearrrs ago. I didn't even think of a mod being made but here we are! No more playing ring around the rosey with the Arishok lol
"Ah, the Arishok fight. Does anybody not hate it? He knocks you down, then knocks you down again, then knocks you down again, and finally, just as you think it's over, he impales you, drops you on the floor... and knocks you down again. Cue a lot of running and screaming. It's not epic, it's not fun to play, and it can take upwards of ten minutes."
So true! I must have laughed for 5 minutes reading this!! Can't wait to try it! I hate this guy!!!!
Same here (can't wait to try it!), but Vortex does not seem to be enabling it? Anyone have experience with opening it via Vortex? I can totally see the files in my override folder; however, Vortex is giving an error message.... I guess I shall see. And I will let you know xo
Thank you so very much. Combined with 'reach lvl 59'and 'more xp' I finally looked like a mage capable of fighting the Arishok properly instead of being chased around in circles and looking like an idiot.
Ahahahhaha omg same lol. Especially with my mage hawke, i hated chasing around and then waiting for the right opportunity to strike, it was damn tedious as hell.
Hello. To be honest, I never seriously tried to do the Arishok duel until now, given I was already quite annoyed by those oh so "'onorable" duels in DAO - Landry and Loghain, the Proving for Harrowmont also qualifies - were you are getting knocked around like a pinball by a large melee oaf and the whole affair can become one-sided rather quickly - either in your favour for properly specced controller mages, two-handed warriors and arcane warriors or in the enemies' - for Archers, support mages and perhaps dual wielders. I'm right in the middle of a DA2 playthrough (mage Hawke) now and I guess I'll try that duel, both with and without your mod.
On another note: I would like to ask you If you can help me with my own personal mod project. I want to nerf those enemy Assassins down to a level comfortable for me to make the game feel less like gambling and more enjoyable. I tried to edit the respective ablilities in abi_base.gda with gff editor (GDApp confuses me) to reduce their damage modifer form a (ridiculous) 5.0 down to 1.0 but it seems that it does't really work, as one of my characters using level-appropriate evolving armor still got stabbed for around 50 health in one hit - in the 1st Act, when I did not remember Assassins to be that much of an issue. Did I messed something up or are there other entries/files governing the backstab abilities?
Works as stated. I always got bored with the running around and this time around I was playing a 2-handed warrior and it seems like a fight that took a bit but was better than that running around like a chicken with its' head chopped off. Thanks
