*** INFORMATION ***
Name: Wesley's Ring
Type: Item / Equipment
Description: 'Wesley's Ring' is an item that was included with the Dragon Age 2 game files, but ended up being an entirely inaccessible and unused item with no stats. I've always liked the idea of having it as a wearable accessory for Aveline, so I've turned it into one.
Effect: Introduces a unique accessory for Aveline.
Its base stats with Aveline at Level 2 are:
+1 constitution
+9 mana/stamina
+9 mana/stamina regen
+8% damage resistance
+8% magic resistance
+3 fortitude
immunity to flanking
improves with level-up
For those who do not want to start a new game to receive and use this item, I have included alternative acquisition methods.

*** REQUIREMENTS ***
There are no other required files, unless you want to use the VADDI method for adding the item to your game. In that case, you'll need that mod, which can be found here:
http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage2/mods/2798/?

*** INSTALLATION ***
Open the .zip file and place 'Wesley's Ring.erf' into your 'Dragon Age 2\packages\core\override' folder.

*** ACQUISITION ***
There are three methods for obtaining this item in-game. Use whichever is most convenient for you.
* METHOD 1: [ NEW GAME VERSION ]
Start a new game. Aveline will join you already equipped with the item.
* METHOD 2: [ ADD VIA CONSOLE VERSION ]
At any point during gameplay, activate the developer console.
If you are already using VADDI, then typing 'runscript vaddi wes' will bring up a container with the item for you to take.
If you do not use VADDI, type 'runscript wesring' to have the item spawn in your inventory.
* METHOD 3: [ QUEST 'REWARD' VERSION ]
ONLY WORKS IF YOU HAVE ALREADY STARTED A GAME BUT HAVE NOT YET REACHED KIRKWALL.
Download the optional 'rewards_wesring.gda' file. Place it in the same file as the main 'Wesley's Ring.erf' file.
You should remove this file from your overrides folder after obtaining the item to avoid receiving duplicate copies when starting subsequent new games.

*** CONFLICTS ***
If you use acquisition method 1 or 2, there should be no conflicts whatsoever. I don't know of any other mods that edit the same files. It should even be compatible with mods like Diversified Follower Armors.
If you utilize method 3, the 'reward' version, then there is the potential for conflict. This method modifies the game's 'rewards.gda' file. Multiple modifications to this file are completely compatible, as long as they have different filenames and do not edit the same lines. If you are using any other mods that grant you rewards or spawn items in your inventory upon arrival at Kirkwall, then this method will likely conflict. If not, then you should be fine.
On the off chance you may need to troubleshoot any compatibility issues, here's a list of all files changed/modified by this mod:
- pro000ip_wesleys_ring.uti [Wesley's Ring item file]
- gen00fl_aveline.utc [Aveline's UTC template]
- rewards.gda (as rewards_wesring.gda) [Quest rewards list]

---------------------
*** REMOVAL / UNINSTALLATION ***
Delete 'Wesley's Ring.erf' and 'rewards_wesring.gda' (if used) from your 'overrides' folder.

*** BORING STUFF ***
Legal disclaimer: EA / BioWare own all the rights to the Dragon Age series. I'm just playing in their sandbox.
I would prefer this mod not be distributed outside of the Dragon Age Nexus, but if you're going to share it somewhere else anyway, please at least keep this readme intact and provide some kind of credit / linkback / etc to me and don't claim the work as your own.
