Hi everyone - I had to replace my laptop (problems unrelated to DA2, thankfully). The modifications worked fine for me (and for others too, it seems).
@Wez - yes, the modifications were intended for my own use. I won't be putting it up as a separate mod (if that was your concern), but simply so that others could fully enjoy your mod.

I've stopped modding DA2 now and wont be making any edits/requests anymore, I've gone back to Modding/Playing Oblivion, I'll be checking back here less & less as time goes by.

@SirGrimbold - I don't mean to be rude but can you please either edit your posts or message the user you're talking to instead of starting a new post each time, Thanks.

Actually, that has to be it (the flag in the GDA for open face helmets) seeing as I wanna replace an open-faced helm (Champion) with Wez's closed-face Grey Warden helm (which is the same exact model as the 'Warden's Coif' helm, btw).

Yup, that makes sense when you look at what happens - face and beard (sideburns) are fine, head is bald. Which means it's still using the visual code for the default Warriors Champ helmet model (which is open-faced).

So now I just need to figure out how to adjust that line of code. Sadly, it is not in Wez's GDA here and I have no idea where to find it otherwise.

Any suggestions on how to proceed?

Adonnay, for those of us who do know much about editing (and more specifically creating) gda files, are you saying it's possible to created a gda that will replace the Champion armor with Wez's Grey Warden armor, including the helmet, without error?

I tried editing Wez's file here the way John117XL mentioned and all it did was make my party invisible except for their heads.

For the sake of compatibility with other mods that edit the item_variations.gda I recommend you pick up John117XL's approach. Append a suffix to item_variations.gda and remove all lines but the ones you edit.

Btw, I haven't followed the whole discussion so I don't know if this has been brought up already. There's an additional flag in the GDA, 1 for closed helmets and one for 0 for open helmets (column $EA1105EA).

Actually Wez, I think you may be right.

I just tested Sunnies DA2 Champion Starting Gear (here)

    http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2516

Started a fresh game, got the default Champ gear right away, saved it, put your Champ-GW file in and reloaded and it had the same prob w/ the helmet.

Which means there's something in the gamer preventing us from reskinning the default Champ helmet (warrior at least) to your GW skin. Which is very odd since the arm, glvs, and boots convert fine.

    Strange innit...

Yea, I see what you mean, I tried a bunch of diff things last night to tweak/alter that line in the editor. Nothing worked.

I'm sure it's gotta be some simple contradiction between that gda and your BDA swap.

EDIT: read above. Was gonna ask you to do a new gda, but it seems it wouldn't matter. Problem looks like something other than your file.

@SirGrimbold - It seems that every time I change any part of the champions helmet, doesn't matter wether it's for mage, rogue or warrior it makes you appear bald. even if I was to turn one of the champion helmets into example: templar helm, you'd still appear bald, there must be some way bioware has written the game that causes a conflict for reasons unknown.

Nnnng.. If I could just figure this out.

Im using the GDApp (thanks John) to look at Wez's "WCA to GW skin" gda file and trying to find out why the helm skin is wrong, whats diff about it. The other 3 parts of the retex'd champ set convert fine. I just don't know what/where else to look in the editor.

Cheeze's Evo Champ set calls the right files without Wez's gda in there. I can get a vanilla evo champ set at the Gallows (and I want that 1 cuz it evolves). But when I insert the WCA-GW conversion to make it look like the Warden set, the helm gets gonked.

The thing is that 2nd GDA (^^) is obviously conflicting with his 1st one. (They are named the same thing afterall) When I remove the WCA-GW gda from my override folder, the Blood Dragon Armor is correctly converted to his Grey Warden skinned set. However, when I put that gda back in (the 1 that converts the champ set to the Warden set), the BDA conversion no longer works at all (all 4 parts remain default BDA skin).

So there's clearly a contradiction somewhere in the 2nd gda (WCA-GW). I just have no experience at all messing w these files, so I have no idea if it's a simple fix (what I was hoping John's fix was below) or something not worth it.

    Any help wld be appreciated.
