Here's a little FAQ post just to answer some of the kinds of questions I have been getting a lot...
QUESTION #1: "I downloaded the mod but some characters don't have hair, are missing parts of their body, or have black/white skin or hair. What do I do, why is this happening?" ANSWER: If the head morph seems to be showing up but there are parts of it missing, this is due to the game not being able to find the asset that the .mor states that it needs. This could be a missing a skin texture, hair mod, tint file, or anything. How this shows up in the game is different based on the mod missing. For example, a missing skin or tint mod might make the character look completely black or a missing hair mod might make the character look bald. If one or more of your NPCs have this issue then a mod that is required has not been installed correctly. To fix this, please go through the list of required mods again and make sure you have all the necessary files in your override.
QUESTION #2: "When downloading the mods that are required, I get a bunch of chargenmorphcfg.xml files. What do I do?" ANSWER: Chargenmorphcfg.xml files are used for the purpose of adding new assets to the character creator when you start a new game. While this is nice to have, please understand that anything to do with these files will not break this mod or the NPC faces - they don't affect existing anything in the actual game. So you can just not install them if you decide to not make a warden using those mods or if you want to use them, you can use the chargenmorph compiler to make all of them work together. So the answer is, if you want assets from the mod in the character creator menu, use the compiler, if not, just ignore them.
QUESTION #3: "When I go to download some of the required mod files, a list pops up of other requirements. Do I also install these? ANSWER: With some of mods I require, this mod uses specific assets that are sometimes a part of a large mod that has .mors (head morphs). When going to download the files I require, that mod is going to show list of other mods needed to make their .mors work. They are NOT needed since we only want the assets, not the head morphs. So the answer is to ignore that message if you are not installing that mod's .mors, which you aren't in this guide.
QUESTION #4: "My game crashes when I load up Dragon Age AND it only does this when I use this mod! Help?" ANSWER: Right so this is something I discovered because of the helpful people in this mod's comment section. I stickied a comment about this a while ago but I though this should belong in the FAQ. Basically the answer: download the 4GB Patch online. Link is here: https://ntcore.com/?page_id=371 Basically this allows your game to utilize more RAM on your computer like most games nowdays. This is a problem with a few old games, so this fix could work with any old game that uses a x86 executable and keep crashing because of a heavy processing load.
I hope this answers some questions you might have, if there is still a question you have that is not listed above, please don't hesitate to ask! Thank you and I hope you enjoy the mod!
Thanks so much for the great mod! Such a huge upgrade from vanilla. I've run into a couple issues so far that I've managed to fix, so I wanted to share what I did just in case it could help someone else. :)
Jowan/Vaughan hair not showing up: They use the Chain Reaction HM hairstyle. If you downloaded a newer/different version than the one linked (from here or here, for example), change the name of the file "hm_har_NewSeaChain_0.mmh" to "hm_har_barnet_05_0.mmh" (without quotes, of course).
Pol/Gethon hair not showing up: They use the "Cullen Hair for Elves" from Inquisition inspired morphs. I think you need to have both the human and elves version installed for the hair to show up. (In my case, I only had the HM version installed. Whoops! But the HM version does have a .phy file that might be needed?)
Braden/Fenarel/Cailan hair not showing up: I had a different version of the KaniHime hairs installed (from the "KH_Creations" mod). Installing the ones from the link in the mod description (KH's DA:O Hairs) fixed the issue.
Ilen grey face/eyes: Apparently his skin, eye, and eyelash textures were missing. I added some with the pyGFF Editor. Here are some good tutorials on using it: 1, 2
Oh my gosh this is so helpful!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this, I think this will help a lot of people with the various issues they may be having. I'm going to sticky this comment, so it doesn't get lost and others can see it. Obviously there are a lot of mistakes I made with this mod, so I apologize for that and for anyone having to do a billion extra steps to have the characters be consistent. This is quite a lot of fixes that I couldn't figure out though, so thanks once again for taking the time to do this!
Hi! Does anybody know what’s specifically needed for Anora and Jowan? I don’t want to install any other morph, just those two. Any help would be appreciated!
I wish there were separate downloads for characters (not each of them, of course), cause this Anora is drop dead gorgeous but I have no idea what the heck do I download to not mess up everyone else :(
this Mod is amazing! all the faces are amazing and beautiful! one quick question if i may? there are 2 anora files, am i to use both? or just one? i only see the one style for Anora so i am not sure exactly ........ thank you!
If they are sort of dark, blue, and shiny then that's a sign that a facial texture mod that they need is missing from the override. I'm just sort of assuming that the problem is not just a regular shine on the face, because that's probably not an issue lol
But yeah I would double check that you have all the skin texture mods installed correctly and maybe redownload them just to be sure. Hope this helps!
Most likely the Inquisition Morph one. Get the Alistair Original Color, get the skin files, make an new folder in your override and throw them in there.
Does anybody know what hairstyle Ser Jory uses? His is the only one I have come across so far that isn't showing. Do any other characters use the same hairstyle? If it is just Sadly-irrelevant-to-the-larger -scheme-of-things-Jory then I am not bothered.
