Hey so, I have been trying all three of the mods, Better Asala upgradabel, Silverite, and tier 8.
Silverite works fine, so no issues there.
Upgradeable though keeps giving me a Steel Asala despite that I am lvl 12 ( so is Sten) and have been getting mostly Veridium and Red Steel and sometimes Silverite loot. Any idea why that is? Or do I just have to level more? I'd love to hear from you!
The upgradeable version uses the game's built-in tiering system, so it may just be random chance that you're getting steel every time. Have you tried using a mod like the Magic Box (which I definitely endorse) or the selling and buying back method to see if it upgrades properly?
I have not tried that yet, but I will do so! And I have not used the Magic Box yet I am afraid! Will get back to you when I have tried!
Edit: Selling the sword to Bodahn, saving the game, then reloading to buy it back worked, it upgraded to Silverite. So I guess I will just have to level up a bit more to be able to get a dragonbone version out of it. Thank you!
I'm so glad you like it! Yeah, it's such a big part of his character and yet the actual item is so underwhelming, it really feels much more canon to have him use it as much of the game as possible.
if you get it earlyish before the dragon bone maul and meteor sword become available it's actually really good. armor pen is really good into the mobs that can actually live more than 2 seconds, and the 12 attack is absolutely huge. I can only assume that most players underestimate how good attack rating is, I know I did but attack is the most important stat in the game. if you miss half your attacks because you have no hit chance all those damage stats don't mean shit. especially with a 2 hander who has very slow swing timers, attack is all the more important when 2 swings can be an entire mob's health bar.
Runeweaver has a mod for the Cousland sword and shield to make them upgradeable (https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/454), but if you have a request for a specific fixed material just let me know!

Starmetal isn't really tier 8 btw, it's a separate unnumered class
