I've finished all 3 modules and I think I can say without a doubt this is up there with Thirst and Shattered War for my favorite standalone modules. I'm commenting on Part 3 but I've played all 3 and love the overall story and outcome. This is an insanely ambitious project that I'm sort of surprised even got completed. There's definitely some bugs (My whole build got shafted because the arcane warrior spec didn't work and I had to use your command line in part 2 to get Zeke to the Hinterlands because he was missing). Even with all that it was still a remarkably solid story. Luna, Zeke, Flaydeaus, and the rest will enter my Dragon Age headcannon lore. The Elven Apostate class is definitely a highlight of the module and it's unique enough that I might go for a 2nd playthrough in a few months speccing a more offensive build. Hats off to you Kahsah wherever you are now, if you ever feel the urge to come back to Dragon Age modding I will be interested in whatever you do next

The only reason I lowered to 4.5 out of 5.0. I almost knocked Act III another half star for the embarrassing "Mersa" opening locked doors. I think that I clicked on her 200 times.

Very well done. I easily endorsed all of the mods and gave all of them 4.5 out of 5.0. The only thing I took a half star off for was the lack of voices, but all things considered, this is probably the greatest fan made mod (combined with the other Acts) I have played. I've played "The Shattered War", "Rose of Eternity" and "Thirst" and this one as for details, design and painstaking interaction (with dialogue) for characters is amazing. In a way, I almost can understand why there aren't voices. It would've been a great undertaking to do that, but still, it's the only thing that is lacking.

Yeah, it kinda took a lot longer complete than I originally thought it would...
Anyway, good luck and I hope you enjoy it.

Hello, so I'm at the backroom in the gatehouse and nothing happens when click the gate control. I've reload from older saves but it didn't work. I've enter uninstall and reinstall the mod and that didn't work either.

A few things you can try are.
Make sure every enemy is killed in side the gatehouse and if one wasn't, then after you kill them return to the gate control.
Also, make sure your character is right next to the gate control. I think sometimes it fails to recognize if you "clicked" it if the character has to walk to it.

Also, there are 2 gate controls. One for the inner gate and one for the outer gate. The inner gate control is on the lower level and the outer gate control is on the upper level. The outer gate control is more important to open.

I'm not sure which gate control you are talking about here. However, if you did the outer one, then there should have been a cutscene. I suppose it's possible you accidentally skipped it.
Thus, on the opposite side of the upper level from the gate control is a room that I think might have a "water gate" control. So you might need to use that and then just exit from the door right there. Unfortunately, I don't quite remember everything involved with this part of the quest but I think those are the main points to cover.

I was referring to the inner gate control on the lower level.

Have you tried the upstairs area of the gatehouse to just unlock the outer gate?
Unfortunately I don't have these files anymore, so I can't double check the logic, but I'm pretty sure the inner controls were just optional and not required to escape. With the inner gate still closed the main difference if any, would be that you have to escape from the upper level left side of the gatehouse after unlocking the outer gates from the controls on the upper right side.

I'm having a problem in the Denerim uprising in the city gate map with the guards. The initial guards in the spawn area and the gatehouse area are not hostile to my party but they ARE hostile to the other elves, and if I interact with them they will become hostile to us as well. They're also the only guards that spawn, which I imagine (with how the other areas have been going) is not right.

I cannot progress from here- there's nothing I can interact with besides looting and talking to the elves but there are no cutscenes or anything that would lead to continuing. The elves also rearrange to being clustered at the spawn area after defeating the initial guards and do not move after that no matter what I do. I figure that'd be because the additional guards need to trigger to progress.

I updated from 1.1.1 to 1.1.2, earlier and thought maybe the update was the problem and tried again by uninstalling and installing full 1.1.2. Then I tried uninstalling that and installing full 1.1.1 without the update. I've gone back several saves all the way back to leaving the tavern. Nothing has made a difference.

I do not have any additional campaign mods and the mods I do have are mostly clothing/weapon/other aesthetic stuff mods so I doubt they're the problem.

Besides that the only problem I have had with any of the acts was also in act 3 when getting the rumor of where the teryn was, and that was solved by the update. Other than the confusion from that and my current problem, I've really enjoyed this series. It has been fascinating to see how all these individually planned things and other problems are coming together at the end.

Also I find it hilarious how many times we're all captured (in a 'man my life was shitty but pretty normal for like 20+ years and now i'm in an out of holding cells all the time' way).

It certainly sounds like an odd issue. So in the city gates district when you first enter it are you (your party, not the denerim elves) able to kill the guards?
How it's supposed to go. You kill that first group of guards. Then Maldwyn says something like "we're right behind you." then after you walk past a few buildings more guards start to attack you. - I assume you tried getting all the way to the exit gates?

Someone else had a problem where scripts weren't firing. I'm not sure if that's what is happening with you or not though. For them I created the console command: ue3_uden_cg_maldwyn_talk
which can be run by opening the console and typing: runscript ue3_uden_cg_maldwyn_talk
      then press enter.

However, that will skip over several fights in the city gate district.

I can only kill the guards after I go up to them and try to initiate a conversation, which makes them hostile. I did go all the way to the city gates, as well as in every nook and cranny of the map, poking everything in the hopes I was just overlooking something.

The console command worked the second time I tried it; the first time I killed both groups of guards in the area (first group by spawn then second by gatehouse) and it didn't work, the second time I only killed the first group then tried it. The first time it basically did the equivalent of trying to talk to Maldwyn, giving me one of his floating text dialogues. I will say, I did notice before this when talking to Maldwyn that the first time I tried to click on him he would not show any text (I'm guessing this is where it's supposed to initiate the conversation) and then the second and subsequent clicks are just the floating text.

In the gatehouse, the cutscene for the gear in the back is not firing either. I can select it and my character will walk up to it but nothing will happen when they get there and I cannot go up the stairs either. I can't tell if it's just something going wrong with cutscenes or something else.

      Hello Kahsah,
I am at the the same point mentioned above, and I killed the guards where the elves and where the character starts and the second group going straight to the main exit, through the main gate. After killing the guards, I was not allowed to leave. I used the console command you provided, and said "No such script". I know that this message comes fairly late and I am not if you will receive this, but any help would be appreciated.
Thank you for your time and effort,
      Kyle

      Hey,
Wow, crazy to see the last major activity for this was in 2018...

Anyway, I looked at the download file and it certainly has that script. Maybe it's possible you misspelled it? It should just be:
      "runscript ue3_uden_cg_maldwyn_talk" without the quotes.

If you can't see what you're typing into the console, and thus it's easy to misspell the command, then you can download the Make CONSOLE commands visible?
      mod to enable that.
Then you can try typing it again.

Also, it looks like you downloaded both the full version and the update. Since both of those are the same version number, you don't need the updated file. It was just for people who downloaded an older full versions so they wouldn't need to download the huge file all over again. I don't think applying the update should mess anything up, but if your still not finding the script, then maybe try uninstalling the mod and then just reinstalling the full version of the mod only. Ignore the update file.

Thanks Kahsah for your reply. All I needed to do was restart from the autosave before reaching the city gates a few times before Maldwyn says his phrase. It is by chance the script will work without having to do runscipt. Since I have a chance, I am starting from act I again and got to the point where the main character leaves the vault for the first time, with gram, Alki, Luna and Zeke. I love the story provided and how us (the player) has to get emotionally involved into the story, in addition to picking the number fights, from a few fights here and there to fighting almost everything in the story. It is too bad we can not get voiceovers

One more question, I apologize for the amount of time taken. Does coercion play any role in any of the acts? Thanks for your time. I love the time you put in creating this wonderful mod.

No problem. As far as I remember,, neither coercion nor persuasion play much of a part talent wise.  I think there are a few conversations here and there, but nothing that will lock you out of much as I believe your companions will sometimes jump in to help you.

So unfortunately I can't really fix issues that require new updates to the mod, without a huge investment of time. Somehow my source files got out of sync (and some missing) with what's released and updates are producing new bugs that aren't on release :(. Since it's a minor issue, I'm just gonna leave it. I don't want to risk breaking something more major in the mod.

I thought I would bring it up. I do not use it often enough for it to be an issue as I play nightmare all the time. Thanks for the response. :) It has been the only Dragon Age I have been doing for the last few times I have played.

First of all great Series! I enjoyed playing it, i wish the modding scene for DAO would be bigger especially with total conversions. While playing through this, i got somewhat inspired. I want to build something small, creating a little level and some atmosphere. I already worked with the toolset before but only for custum cutscenes, but i wondered, how did you teach yourself the toolset? Like from doing quests and scripts to creating ambient behaviour for npcs?

Thanks, good to hear you enjoyed it and I agree, I wish the modding scene with DAO was bigger. Though still some really amazing work.

When it came to scripting and understanding things like 2das and such, I found http://www.datoolset.net/wiki/Main_Page to be invaluable.
However, for me, the easiest way to learn is to look at a quest that bioware already created and you know how it plays through. That way you know that you need to look for how they created like that ambush with genlocks deep in the wilds for instance or you can see how they made you able to play as morrigan and leliana to rescue the player and such. I feel, knowing how something plays out and that it's possible to play out because you actually did it in the game, means you know what to look for and thus have a goal instead of just reading a textbook on all of the script rules and logic. Once you kinda see how the pieces start to work together, then it because easier. Though it's still pretty intimidating at first no doubt.

Hi. I don't think there is anything specific about that area that would cause this. At least this is the first I've heard about something like this.
Normally most issues that happen during the fast travel are related to mod conflicts. Given how far you are, I don't think that would be it, but if you have any other mods that add new areas to the game, you probably want to disable them until you're finished this mod.

Also, this issue seems like one that might just resolve itself if you exit the game completely and then restart and reload and try again to go to the Hinterlands. If it fails again, then maybe try to go to somewhere else other than the hinterlands first and then to the Hinterlands.

I think there was a conflict with other mods. I one save a deactivated Skip the Fade and in another save a deactivated all mod except for the Uprising series and I got the normal map screen on both saves.

After dealing with Zanji and heading back to the Dalish camp, who is Alektsay supposed to be sitting with when you talk to him in the morning? Someone else says a few lines during that conversation but they're completely invisible to me.

Zhanna. It looks like the player option "And they'll just let you move your clan there?" does not properly account for her not being in the area like it should. I don't see any alternative lines for that situation, so probably that option wasn't supposed to be available if Zhanna is not in the area.
