For those having problems with this mod, make sure the readme you've added to your addins.xml isn't last one. Just install one more dazip mod after that and it works. For me this fixed things.
Finally figured out the correct installation procedure:
1. copy the content from inside the readme into Documents/Bioware/Dragon Age/Settings/addins.xml document
2. copy the entire abm folder into "Your Games Folder"/Dragon Age/addins
Now you should see the descriptions ingame and everything working correct. Works for me at least now
To the uploader of this great mod: thank you so much, this still is pretty much the only mod improving blood magic beyond cooldown times etc., love it! But please put a more detailed installation instruction to it next time, not everybody has the required knowledge with the game files.
Well i did the copy contents of the readme to the addins.xml document and guess what? IT GOT RID OF ALL OF MY MODS AND CAMPAIGNS! I have to reinstall my entire game and hopefully if i save my mod files and characters save files ill be able to salvage this mess up. THANKS ALOT!
You probably posed the thing from the readme in the wrong section, if you scroll down to the bottom of the addins file you should see something that looks like this:
</AddInItem> </AddInsList>
Press enter after </AddInItem> and paste the thing from the readme in that area, also i feel like this is common sense but make a backup file if you mess it up lol, if you do it correctly the game should now tell you what the spells does.
After sifting through this mod's innards, I think I can safely label this one as 'Use-At-Your-Own-Risk' as a caution to my fellow Dragon Age lovers out there on the interwebs. This is because:
A.) The mod is incomplete and, as a result, it still has a few sharp edges that haven't been smoothed out by further development (meaning, even without any other mods installed, it can still mess with your installation and really bug out).
B.) It seems to conflict with a number of very popular mods on the Nexus with conflict severity ranging from mild inconveniences to serious complications. Ex.) The Class and Specialization Pack seems to screw with the second Blood Magic power included with this mod as I've found that the damage it deals seems to fluctuate wildly while the Class and Specialization Pack is installed. Ex.) The Blood Magic powers added in The Bloodworks quest mod seem to screw with the hit detection of this mod's Blood Magic powers. I'm not sure how or if that's even the case but my own test seem to indicate that something fishy is going on between these two mods.
C.) This mod can be very difficult to remove/uninstall.
Thus, I must restate that, in my opinion, I definately classify this mod as USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
Glad that it is just your opinion and not an actual fact, been using it for a while and i had no problems at all, but if you mix it with 300 other magic mods and then call this "problematic" it comes as no surprise to me or anyone else that you are having /.....ahem...problems and feel compelled to share them with us.
Besides, the author clearly stated that this mod was NEVER finished and should be treated as a NON FINISHED MOD, or rather a showcase of what could have been.
I've got a question , I see everything with txt and can use it fine, but is there somehow an animation like jowan is doing? because that I ain't see. or do I have to unlock something else for that matter. I so love jowan his action in dragon age 1
I'm a DA fan, iv recently started using mods and iv always been obsessed with blood magic so i found this mod, but installing this mod i made a new game and used cheat console to test if the mod worked, and i got SOME of the icons, but none of the text shown, i have installed this mod many times but no luck, could i get a guide on how to install this mod?
Guys I did it, I just made the description working 2 minutes ago, and I used to have every weird scenario that you guys experienced which are caused by adding the text the wrong way. roehrich is right, I do everything as he suggested in the comment below, and slightly more. I install abm folder in addins as he mentioned [and I put it into the override to, I'm no modder just a guy who like gaming.] the hard part is the addins.xml in setting folder, you have to put it right. you can find the addins.xml in dragonage/setting, it must be "addins.xml" I repeat, not systeminformation.xml.
this xml file contains the text and detail of those mods we used. you must open it which notepad++ or xml editor or whatever you like [notepad works too.] then scroll down to the bottom, you'll see something like this and the end. </Publisher> <PrereqList /> </AddInItem> </AddInsList>
you'll have to copy and paste the content in the readme in the position I mark ********************* </Publisher> <PrereqList /> </AddInItem> ***************************************************PUT IT HERE*************************************************** </AddInsList>
tried checking by opening DAmodder, if you put it right, things will go normally no warning messages.
I did everything to the letter & I still got no descriptions. So I decided to turn off the mod to see if that might work but trying to turn it off crashes Mod Manager.
