For you guys out there who downloaded the Core Mod required NOT as a .DAZIP file but as a .ZIP file instead. I'm sorry but I think if you are using Chrome, you can only get a .ZIP version. To install it correctly, simply change the .ZIP file by renaming it into .DAZIP file.. And you can install the mod as intended. Or download using Edge or Firefox, that should work too.
In other words, make sure you install using DAUpdater and nothing else. Because DAUpdater doesn't just slap in the files in there, it also builds a registry of items in the correct ID codes and names to refer to. Without it, the mod won't work.
For anyone experiencing naked Duncan or invisible/missing limbs. There's definitely a mod conflict somewhere. I've made this mod all those years ago, and in all that years, the modding community keeps growing, with new mods, and massive overhauls everywhere. When it comes to overhaul mods, there's always a risk of conflict with another mod, just like this one.
This mod is designed to be used best when playing in a new game, not for loading a saved game no matter how early in the game the save is. If you're having issues, my suggestion is to test things out first:
1. Uninstall everything, your game, your save file, everything in the documents folder.. 2. Reinstall the game, make sure every settings all reset to default. 3. Install this mod. Remember, always install the CORE mod first, then the MAIN file. 4. Start a new game, and play around for a while. Try out using the console command to spawn the file, and make sure that Duncan appears properly. 5. If everything looks okay. Then one by one, install the other mods you have/want. 6. Everytime you install a mod, start a new game, and do Step 4. again. Make sure Duncan and your item spawn and looks properly. 7. Chances are, you're gonna come across one or two mod, that after installing it, makes Duncan naked or wear the yellow spandex. Then you'll know which mod conflicts it.
FINAL UPDATE (I hope) OF THE LIGHT GREY WARDEN ARMOUR LOOKING LIKE MEDIUM GREY WARDEN ARMOUR
To those who are also having this problem, I've found the solution! Thanks to lemoncanary631 for putting me in the right direction by pointing out that there's something in the Ferelden pack mod that doesn't like this mod.
Now, to make this mod work with Ferelden pack, you're going to have to delete only two files that can be found here:
Could you please advise, what file name should I look for to fix a conflict with the scout hood? It makes half of its wearer's head (where the hood should be) invisible (for NPCs, main character and companions alike), while every other equipment works perfectly. I uploaded a screenshot here.
I'd like to delete the conflicting file from the responsible mod, but I have no idea what to look for.
The two big mods I use are 'Ferelden Elves - DA2 Style' and 'Unique Characters Overhaul'.
Any help is appreciated!
EDIT: I was able to fix this issue, but I will leave this comment here in case someone has it in the future.
The culprit was the qunari mage mask (gen_im_arm_hel_med_magb.uti) from the 'qunari update', it has the same item variation as the Grey Warden Scout Hood (gen_im_arm_hel_med_wlt.uti), both being 177.
How I fixed it:
1. Opened gen_im_arm_hel_med_magb.uti with Gff Editor 2. Simply changed the ModelVariation number from 177 to 178 (see screenshot) 3. Saved and closed the file.
After this 4. Opened helmet_medium_variation_mgb.gda with GDApp 5. Under 'int', I changed 177 to 178 (see screenshot) 6. Clicked 'File' then 'Save'
And that's it! Of course you can change the item variation to another number, but I found that 178 doesn't conflict with any big mod I use, and I use plenty.
Hey I'm having a problem when trying to upgrade the armor. I sell it to Bodahn and go to a different area. When I come back it's gone from the shop. Do you know what might have caused this or am I doing something wrong?
Did you sell to Bodahn on the first time you visited your camp (the one with the archdemon vision)? If so, it's technically a separate/different camp than the one you get to visit regularly at other times? You can't access that first camp anymore after that scene. So your items might be gone forever. But if you do the Soldier's peak DLC quest, you can buy the armors again at the shop.
Otherwise, you might need to reload an earlier save, go through the archdemon vision scene, then exit the camp and come back in. That should let you access the normal campsite where you can sell your gear to Bodahn, leave the camp again and visit back in.
Otherwise, there might be a mod conflict/incompatibility somewhere that also edits Bodahn's shop inventory.
I don't know if you're still active but last time I tried to play this game modded I couldn't finish the game bc the warden armor crashed the game during some cutscene. Is there a fix for that?
I'm still active on Nexus, but I'm no longer active with modding this game. The game crash is an unfortunate side effect of the mod during the first Archdemon dream cutscene. There's no known solution other than disabling the mod prior to the cutscene so that it doesn't crash the game. After you wake up in the camp the first time, you just need to exit the camp, go somewhere and come back to the campsite. Save your game, then enable the mod and load the game again. There's no known game-crashing cutscene with this mod on other than that first Archdemon dream/vision cutscene afterwards.
I can confirm, IA is a great idea. But there is too many mods that were not considered in its creation, so they are not compatible. Also this mod doesen't work with it.
I tried it, but sadly IA made Duncan wear a yellow Full Body Comdom for me (missing texures). :D Also my Mabari became invisible if i used other texure mods for him. On Top the game got stuck each time i entered the first Mabari Dialogue.
Ergo, i uninstalled everything and skipped IA. It's a big shame that IA doesn't play nice with so many Mods i like. But i rather wanted this mod instead. It also helps the rest of your party with items that the base game is a bit too stingy with in the beginning.^^
Regarding OP, that is not true in my eyes. It starts at level 1 and yes, if it is too strong, don't level it any further. If you want to level it, i noticed that it is compatible with the Leveling Altar, that comes with MerAnne's Storage Mod. Just cklick the Altar in camp and it will upgrade your Warden items, too. ;)
My question is how do i see which Texture Pack is which in the screenshots? I am a bit confused, bceause i didn't recognize all of them. Can anyone help me sort it out?
I think you can do a google image search for each of the texture packs. Hopefully there's some images out there in the internet that can show you what they look like.
wait but the description says --------------------- COMPATIBILITY: --------------------- This mod is now compatible with Improved Atmosphere mod by SpaceAlex. Simply download and install the Core Mod DAZIP file first, then Download and Install the Improved Atmosphere Compatibility Pack. Simply extract it into your Override folder and overwrite everything when asked.
On the 'Images' tab for the mod, scroll down to the user-submitted images area. I uploaded clearly labeled images of each of the various texture packs. (It was fairly recently, so they might even still be on page 1.)
It was true.... 12 years ago.. with the version of IA that was released before the latest update date of this mod. IA has changed a lot since then while this mod's pretty much stays as is. So whatever changes they made since then, I'm not sure if it's compatible anymore.
I think there's another mod in Nexus with an updated IA-GWF compatibility mod somewhere, but I don't know what keyword to use.
The mods great I absolutely love the armor Weirdly enough I only had problems with the cutscene in Redcliff after killing the desire demon had no other problems with any other cutscene. But to be fair it was my first time ever modding the game and I did it very weirdly so hopeful this time goes way better so far its going very smooth.
Not sure if anyone still updates or check the comments here but I was wondering if there's a fix for the wrong model on Duncans Sword and Dagger. I am using IA and the armors all work and I managed to make the weapons models work too by deleting the IA model files (if I remember correctly) but now Duncans weapons are the wrong model and was wondering if anyone knows what I need to adjust/delete to make them work. Thanks in advance
I mean...I kinda like IA and managed to make everything else work, armor and weapons, only thing I can't find a way to fix is Duncans weapons, everything else works
Then there must be something that IA modifies in regards to Duncan's weapons, try to look for any files in IA that relates to Duncan and delete it. I'm sorry I can't be of help. It's a 12-year old mod and I don't even remember what I did in this mod. So you'll have to investigate it yourself I'm afraid.
It's okay, thanks a lot for the suggestion and trying :) Sadly nothing worked, but it's fine I don't mind using a slightly "weaker" weapon, since everything melts anyhow, even on nightmare :D
I just wanted to first thank you for this mod! It is amazing and I use it on every run. The only thing I am wondering about is how to get alistair to appear with his templar shield like in the pictures? He always shows up with his grey warden shield.
Well, I mean he's a Grey Warden when you meet him the first time, so it actually makes more sense that he would be using his Grey Warden shield at that point. The one in the photo was submitted by another user and they equip Alistair with the templar shield from another mod. It's not part of this mod's design by default. So you'll have to manually give him the templar shield to use if that's what you want.
This mod makes every other piece of armor obsolete. This mod takes away the feeling of progression when you never need to equip anything else. Is there a way to make this less overpowered? Are there any armor mods on the nexus that are balanced?
I mean, the armor starts at tier 1. So I dunno how much more balanced it could be?
I mean that's the idea of an armor mod. You like an armor and you wear it until you finish the game. It's a uniform. It's no longer a uniform if you keep changing the armor as you progress.
The armors in this mod starts at tier 1. After a few level ups it would be too weak for you. So the progression in this modded armor is to sell them to Bodahn, leave the camp to go somewhere else then return to camp again to rebuy the armor from him. He'll upgrade the tier as you progress to level up.
If yoh feel it's too overpowered, maybe you're just too good playing this game. And I'm sure there's an extreme difficulty mod somewhere here that can privide you with more challenge.
I don't know if someone has already asked, but is there a place where I can see the texture pack differences? The links on the mod page are quite broken now.
I just added labeled images of the texture packs downloadable from the GWoF files tab; the 'Trailer Warden' retexture can be seen (and downloaded) from that mod's page: Warden Armor Textures.
Additional images of Rak72's Blight Buster textures can be found on the page for the standalone version of that mod: Rak DAO Blight Buster Recolors. Additional images of the BloodWarden textures can be found on the DA2 mod's page: BloodWarden. Additional images of the Dragon Knight textures can be found on the DA2 mod's page: Dragon Knight Armour Pack. Additional image of LapisLazzuli's Grey Warden B textures can be found on the DA2 mod's page: Grey Warden Armor Pack. And Aremeta's original DA2 retextures are no longer available for download.
Nexus pro-tip: if you encounter a broken mod link within the site, check the format of the URL, as the site changed the way URLs are formatted quite a few years ago: 'http://dragonage.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=3304' is the deprecated style for URLs. It's simple to find the current page for a mod, though, as long as it hasn't been removed in the interim. Make note of the ID number of the mod - in this case, 3304. Then open the page for another mod for the same game , such as GWoF: https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/3258. Replace the ID number at the end of the URL with the ID for the other mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/3304, and you will have a working link in the current format.
Note that at one time, DAO and DA2 mods were both under the same section of the game, so you might have to try both the DAO and DA2 areas for a current link.
@theskymoves - I was looking through old posts and there is another person who asked about the Blue and Silver texture for the recruit armor. You answered, but for some reason the answer the reply post is blank except for a single . in the box. Any chance you could tell me what was used to get that coloring for the recruit armor? I had it for my original playthroughs as evidenced in my screenshots, so I'm assuming I have the file somewhere in my folders. I just need a reminder of what it's called. Thanks.
Playing DAO after many years away and everything seemed to be working fine, except my recruit armor isn't the blue and silver it used to be (and like the screenshots on this mod), but it's a brassy color with green. Not sure if I'm missing a texture file? Everyone else wearing the GW armor looks perfect. It's only the recruit armor. I'm using the file from his mod.
If anyone could point me in the right direction, I appreciate it. Thanks in advance.
So this isn't compatible with Natural Bodies? I have been getting major textures issues with bodies and clothes in the game, this is the only other texture mod I have on a brand new install of the game so It ain't the other one. I guess this edits or replaces files that other one uses. I am new to DA:O modding though, so far it seems so jury rigged in comparison to other games. Reminds me of Dragons Dogma, need to have a compatibility file that contains both the mods in the code for them to work. Though with that you only have one mod line of code, and it needs to contain ALL of your mods, so you end up with people making compilation mods with like "Xbox controller support, nude body, Specific armour textures and one characters dialog fix" and you can't have one you have to have all.
If I remember correctly, I also used natural bodies back then and I remember it works fine. Do you want to try removing Natural bodies mod to see if the texture issue still happening?
Damn, he's still active and responds the same day. I have done everything, If you can think of it I have done it. I uninstalled, reinstalled, verified and sacrificed a goat. Not sure if the issue is with this mod, natural bodies, DAMM or my game version (Steam, Ultimate Edition). Your mod actually works A OK, shows up and looks great. But then I read on the Natural bodies page that other mods that mess with armour or clothes textures can give it trouble. So I though as this was the only mod I had installed that changed the textures bar Natural Bodies all in one itself, Id remove this and see. So I did that and it worked, sort of. It all works for about a minutes, I run around, change armours, go into a cutscene and then at some point, it all breaks again and the textures for the bodies are wrong, the textures for all the "servant" outfits are messed up and blood on the floor is now a big red flickering square. I have tried every variation of troubleshoot or "With this mod then that mod and without this and with this" that I can think of, all giving me the same results. The issue is, even with removing all texture mods, it is still an issue, the body is no longer an issue, just normal textures there, but the clothes are still messed up and I still got red squares for like 50% of blood on the floor textures, even after making a new save with no texture mods, and verifying the game files and reloading.
Only other mods I have is Better Sex Scenes cus it is a classic and Equal Love cus Morrigan is my MVP and I play a female paladin. An neither of those edits textures.
EDIT: Heck even tried using the original Natural Bodies too and that makes no difference. Might even be an issue with DAMM
EDIT2: Yeah I removed all mods and everything in the Overrides file and the texture issues are still there. I am thinking it is an issue with the base game. But the issues with the Nature bodies are still there even if it is the only mod installed so I don't have any idea what the issue there is. Installed the game literally last night. But your mods is working great when I use it at the very least.
I'm playing another game with mods and Nexus is the one stop shop for all game mods anyway, so whenever I want to explore them, notifications for this mod still goes through to my feed. So yeah, I'm still active. Although I'm no longer actively modding this GWOF mod. It may have been a DAMM issue. I'm not sure. I don't think DAMM existed when I made this mod back then. A lot of the process involves using DAUpdater to install the CORE Mod file. While the main mod was done by manually extracting it to the game folder (or mod folder?). It was never designed with DAMM in mind since it doesn't exist back then. So I can't guarantee if it works well with it or not. And I don't think I can check it anymore since I'm no longer supporting this mod with further updates. I only answer whenever I can when I get notified.
Heck, when I made this mod, I was still playing this game using DVD. So it was a completely offline game without Steam structure.
I got it working in the end, sorry about that. It took a 4gb patch and a few other bits. Game wasn't loading in the right files as it couldn't keep up with the memory leak.
How did you get yours working? Mine is giving me the square glitching things as well. I installed the 4gb patch but I am still having issues. At least I am not getting booted everytime I zone again now!! grrr I got a new harddrive as my 1TB was not enough for the games I have but now I can't remember everything I had to go through to get my mods and Origins working smoothly!!
While the warrior armor set looks extremely nice, I don't like the armor set designed for rogue at all. When you compare these two armor sets, the rogue set starts to look even more mediocre.
Thanks for the feedback, I'll be sure to let Bioware know about it since they're the one who designed the armor set in Dragon Age 2. I merely made them available for use to the NPC here in Origins.

Ferelden pack -> Ferelden armor -> Light armor -> Ferelden scout
The files that you specifically need to delete, or remove if you want to keep the files, are these:
armor_light_variation_wrb.gda
gloves_light_variation_wrb.gda
You would also need to delete the file named 'Grey Warden', it also turns the light armour back to medium.
I hope this helps others who had the same problem as me with this mod!
Could you please advise, what file name should I look for to fix a conflict with the scout hood?
It makes half of its wearer's head (where the hood should be) invisible (for NPCs, main character and companions alike), while every other equipment works perfectly.

1. Opened gen_im_arm_hel_med_magb.uti with Gff Editor
2. Simply changed the ModelVariation number from 177 to 178 (see screenshot)
3. Saved and closed the file.
After this
4. Opened helmet_medium_variation_mgb.gda with GDApp
5. Under 'int', I changed 177 to 178 (see screenshot)
