Ok for anyone who thinks the mod does not work - I'm doing the city elf origin and I'm in the castle, tried it on locked doors and it did not work. I checked everything in the installation process, nothing. Then I randomly got back to a locked chest earlier on the map and I could bash it. So make sure you're not testing it on something that can be locked for plot reasons.
This doesnt work, i started a new warrior human and the first chest in the castle i came across wasnt able to be bashed, i followed all tutorial instructions. Just get the Inneficient skill promt
Hey, just making sure that I'm doing everything right. So I followed all of the tutorials to install bash mod, and during my initial session it worked. After I saved and came back, it does not open chests anymore at all. Some people say it's specific chests, but I'm talking about all of Redcliffe, no matter what chest it is, whenever I press on the chest, it just says Insufficient skill, and then nothing happens. Please Help?
EDIT: for new users, if you want to bash everything, make sure that BASHCHECK=1
Yep, it works. Started with a rogue who had lvl 1 lockpicking, was a while before she came around a lock which wasn't 'impossible' due to plot reasons and was above her lockpicking level simultaneously. Don't worry if you come around doors and chests which are 'impossible' and your character doesn't bash them, the mod is likely working as intended.
Hello, nice to meet you guys I have a problem with the mod, every time I close the game I need to reinstall the mod, because if I don't, before loading the game it tells me that the two mod files are missing. Any solution? Thank you very much in advance
one chest on 2nd floor of mage's tower (senior enchanters' quarters) that won't be bashed no matter what settings I use. unclear if this is quest related. it does NOT say "key required" or anything like that. just says insufficient skill even when skill requirements set to none and no break chance.
This mod works. Instructions are simple. New mage character, running about the Tower, & locked doors weren't 'bashable'. Never ran into a lock chest. Once sequestered by Duncan and taken to Ostagar, I found first locked chest. Unarmed, I started flailing about and it busted open... Sooo, if just starting out and aren't able to beat down the lock doors of the Tower...just play on until the mage leaves the tower. THANKS for your sharing of your work!
It works like 95% of the time. Don't get me wrong, it's great to have, but also annoying when you run into doors and chests that still won't open. Obviously it shouldn't open key-required locks, but everything else ought to be fair game.
I've also noticed the ini settings don't work well if changed from their default values. Setting it to always succeed does not work at all, and lowering the requirements seems to actually increase them instead.
Just like BeanAcolyte said, it seems to work most of the time. I copy and pasted the lines that the description had, changed BashBreakChance to 0, and even though I am breaking chests open, I get a popup saying that I lost items. Once, in the Tower of Ishal, it said I bashed the chest open, I saw that there were arrows, but then when the item menu went away, it popped up that I lost arrows. Even used Alistair to bash a chest (better damage than my mage), and it said I lost what was inside.
