Okay, it's an essential mod but can be buggy indeed.
Make sure to quicksave every so often since, for example, there is a locked room in Redcliffe Castle which you cannot access until progressing the quest in that area but your team will get stuck in animation of trying to get into that room if you press autoloot nearby before having the right key.
Another point, autoloot can mess up some quests being checked as completed. Return to Ostagar will not complete if you picked up parts of Cailan's armor using autoloot. You will need to complete the dlc for Warden's Keep since it provides access to a chest which you can not only take from, but put into as well, and you'll have to put all parts of Cailan's armor there, then take them out again for the quest to complete.
You may and likely will aggro half the dungeon in dungeons since you can press autoloot in one room but the game will find something in another room behind the wall, and make your character run there even though they have to circle around half the dungeon to get to that other room.
It is indeed annoying how you lose control of your character and have to watch them run forth and back and forth again without being able to stop them manually. I found a workaround: have a mod which allows you to have your dog as the 5th team member https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/664 and use autoloot as that dog. You will keep control of the dog while other team members are running around collecting loot for you.
upd: if your team is indeed stuck in the attempt to loot a locked room, but you are able to control at least one character, go exit the location. Thankfully, you don't need to 'gather all your allies' to do that. Your team will go back to normal. And I don't mean a different point on the map, I mean a different part of the dungeon you are in, different floor in the Tower, etc.
This can cause a softlock because of how it steals control from the player. You can't take back control until the loot has finished, meaning if there's something that can't be looted but the script thinks it can, it ends up in an infinite loop of walking back and forth trying to reach the loot and failing... I've softlocked in Redcliffe castle because there's a weapon rack behind a locked door, and I don't have any other lockpicking characters...
Also, there's seemingly an issue where loot vanishes? I've clicked auto loot near lootable bodies only for the loot to disappear without me getting anything.
1.Look for your addins.xml file in Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Settings 2.Open it with any notepad or something 3. Look for line: <AddInItem UID="mod_auto_loot" Name="Auto Loot" ExtendedModuleUID="Single Player" Priority="100" Enabled="1" State="2" Format="1"> And change it to <AddInItem UID="mod_auto_loot" Name="Auto Loot" ExtendedModuleUID="dao_prc_ep_1" Priority="100" Enabled="1" State="2" Format="1">

How do you install this for Awakening? It doesn't seem to work. I am playing the Steam build and not on Ultimate edition even though I have it. I am just playing it on the "Dragon Age: Origins" version with Awakening installed that can be accessed inside "Dragon Age: Origins". Auto Loot worked fine when I was in Origins, but not in Awakening.
Sorry new to this. how do you uninstall? tried reading all the files and searched comments but couldn't find a way to do it. looked in override folder and dont see anything
edit: i see it in the addins folder. but is it safe to simply delete? edit2: found an entry on reddit that said easiest to just disable in in the game main menu rather than uninstall. will try this and hope it doesn't interfere with another known conflict mod I'm getting ready to install.
I guess it's a bit late to comment, but it'd be nice if the mod autoloots enemies after death, so we don't have to loot them manually, I know, I'm getting lazy.
I was unable to finish that quest too with this mod installed, then I tried to use the chest on Soldier's Peak to store the King Cailan's Gears and take those gears back to my inventroy. Finally the quest completed
Just tried, had the same problem, just sell all the set, and rebuy it without exiting the menu, so it'll cost 0 to rebuy it, as soon as you close the buying/selling menu, the quest will be complete.

Oddly it only shows up when I DISABLE autoloot using the Skill from quickbar.
