If you have already created your character and would like to completely silence your PC you can remove the associated voice files for your particular sound set. It works for me.
The files are stored in C:GamesDragon Age Originspackagescoreaudiovoen-usvo Not in My Documents...
I removed the: "ss_pc_fhuman_violent.fev" and "ss_pc_fhuman_violent.fsb" and now I have a silent PC that is using the violent sound set.
You should back these files up somewhere safe because you may want to unmute this sound set in the future.
If anyone is still reading this at such a late date, I exited the game, deleted the two ss_pc_mhuman_violent files, as suggested here, then restarted the game, but my violent human male is still making all the comments he did before. I don't see how he can be, but then I took the extreme step of removing every single ss_pc fev and fsb file, both male and female, for all sound sets, and for all races, and he STILL makes the same comments. I really do not want to restart the game with a new character, but the comments are driving me absolutely foolish. Don't know how I ever put up with them in all my previous runs through the game. Wish I had found this mod before I got 75% of the way through the game (I was already using the mod that eliminates the "Ladder" comment), but as I said, I don't want to lose all that progress; so I guess I will have to put up with the comments. I'll know better the next time. This seemed like the ideal solution.
I don't currently have the game installed, but the files must be compressed or packed somewhere and overwriting the loose audio. Are you playing some later edition of the game like a legendary edition or something? Not sure where but the audio files have moved.
@a_jack_1988: Any gda file that starts with the name of an existing gda file will expand the original one.
So if you use GDApp to open the original playersoundsets.gda, you could try to pick the voices you want, change their race and ID number, delete all other lines and save as something like playersoundsets_voice_swapper.gda
The original playersoundsets.gda can be found in 2da.erf, which is in Program Files/Dragon Age/packages/core/data and can be opened with the toolset.
How exactly did you do this? is there a way to change lets say a DF voice to a HF voice?
I dont like any of the HF voices but I like most of the DF voices so I was wondering if it was possible to 'add' one of the DF voices to to the Human Female's list?
