I haven't found a solution in the comments yet from what I've seen so any advice is appreciated!

I'm playing the Dragon Age : Origins - Ultimate Edition on Steam. I've downloaded a couple other mods that I've had success with (Unofficial Remaster and Gifts) but I am a beginner at modding so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I also have Apathetic Morrigan and Equal Love downloaded but haven't tested these out yet.

When I go to download the files it says it's a dazip file, which I've used before with success, but when it downloads it's a .rar file, I read below that you have to extract the dazip out of that but it doesn't give me the option to extract and DAUpdater doesn't recognize it so I have it in my override folder currently. What am I doing wrong?

just extract the file from the folder or simply open the downloaded .rar folder and move the file from it directly into DAUpdater

Great mod. Using this with Dain's Fixpack and a small number of other mods and works without issues (DA:O). Installed with the DAUpdater and on next game start and resuming my last save, book was in inventory and helmets showed in character and inventory screens, but were hidden in game world.
I've seen a comment stating that there is a conflict with the Respec mod, but both work fine for me together.

So I kept having the same issue happen to me, just like many others, and this mod is not the cause for helmets getting unequipped the moment you try to wear them. What causes this is a .gda file which is part of the 'Dragon Age Rules Fixpack' mod. To fix this simply delete a folder named 'Tweak - No Helmet' inside the 'GT Core Rules Fixpack - BETA' folder which should be located at "...Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\packages\core\override".

Just one more note to other reading this: "Dragon Age Rules Fixpack" is redundant in terms of bug fixes as all its fixes are included in Dain's Fixes - if you're using both, keep only Dain's Fixes. If you're using only Dragon Age Rules - use Dain's instead.

If anyone needs help making this work in Golems of Amgarrak & Witch Hunt:

    Go to: Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Settings

Edit addins.xml, find No Helmet Hack AW and change ExtendedModuleUID from DAO_PRC_GIB to:

When playing Golems of Amgarrak: DAO_PRC_GIB
    When playing Witch Hunt: DAO_PRC_STR

just do it before each campaign.

you can also use this method for every other mod, just tested this with golden egg mod and others.

An excellent find Esh! It helped me to take it a step further. *Also awakening's original extended UID is: DAO_PRC_EP_1*

If you don't want to manually change them over and over, you can copy and paste the whole section of the No Awakening Helmet Hack in Addins four more times (or 3 if you don't use tale of orzammar) (Make sure to include there is 1 </AddInItem> before and after each section). Then, once you do that copy paste thing, change the extended UID of the first one to DAO_PRC_GIB, the second one to DAO_PRC_STR,  the third DAO_PRC_LEL, and the fourth (if you use tale of orz) to PC_GAMER_TALE.

And voila! No more need to keep going back in and changing. Just tested again to be safe and each one works perfectly independently.

      Yup, works just fine.
Use DAUpdater.exe from game to install files. Unpack them first ofc.
Install first file 1.6 for origins
Install second file 1.5a for awakening.

      Profit
No need to touch anything else. Helmet is hidden automatically when equiped

It doesnt recognize specializations like arcane warrior, it simply pputs the heavy helmet back to inventory, same for the other specializations that change or modify skill properties. Uninstalled, worthless untill fixed v0v

It downloaded as a RAR file which the DAmodmanager didn't like, so I used the 7-Zip File Manager, extracted the file which converted it to a DAZIP file, and now it works. bit weird that it previews as a DAZIP file but downloaded as RAR

It download as a RAR archive because it IS a RAR archive. (RAR is a compression format, like ZIP or 7-Zip.)

The RAR contains the DAzip, so it must be extracted to be installed.
